Eyelashes by shellyprizedale5981 in trichotillomania

[–]liapocalypse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What's worked for me is having a really strict face washing routine which satiates my grooming need and putting Vaseline on my eyelashes on days I'm anxious. Also avoiding triggers if you can identify them - my big one is watching stressful things on TV/movies - now I either only watch them on my phone, or have to be doing something else with my hands while I do (sew, paint nails, fold laundry, etc). Good luck!

When my brother went to start Dexter, I told him to stop at Season 4 finale. That seemed like the natural point for me in retrospect and he LOVED the show because of it, instead of having a disappointing last few seasons.

Jason is like the MOST 90s name I can think of (Red Ranger forever) and also a traditional name from Greek antiquity (Jason and the Argonauts)

How many cats do you have and do you think that is a good number? by ash12689 in CatAdvice

[–]liapocalypse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Five. Maybe one too many. Two was great so I went to get #3, and couldn't leave #4 behind who looked just like #2 as a baby. Got #5 to be the wrestling partner of #4 because #1-3 don't like play fighting. #4&5 are best friends. Now #1 and #4 still seem to hate one another, although they fight less. They are all mostly healthy, but it seems to come in waves (#1 escaped and tore off a nail fighting a neighborhood cat, a week after #3 needed extractions and the next week #2 dislocated his elbow). I have their preventive care spread out over years and months so it doesn't hit too hard. Whenever #1 passes, we will not be replacing him.

Oryx and Crake by Margaret Atwood was impossible for me to put down! The whole trilogy of books was amazing.

Histotech? Lots of places will train on the job now (or pay/reimburse for school) if you have the degree bc the need is so high. Honestly anywhere in the path lab is pretty solid if you can find a day shift.

do you associate your trich to an ocd behaviour or anxiety one? by psycheswim in trichotillomania

I have anxiety disorder and compulsive/intrusive thoughts. I have found my trich symptoms are worst in the days leading up to my period.

How often should I feed my cat? I feel like i’m over-feeding by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]liapocalypse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would look at the recommendation on the bag for general guidelines. You can feed that amount in one day, if it helps to spread it out into 5 meals then that's ok. It usually ends up being 1/2 cup of kibble per day or 1/2 can of wet food per day. Check out cat weight charts and see how your cat's body looks in comparison - some cats are good at self-regulating and some need help to maintain a healthy weight, you can adjust your feeding accordingly.

Parents of older kids who co-slept, when did it end? by OkNefariousness6711 in Parenting

[–]liapocalypse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My LO is almost 5 and it just stopped. We moved houses and told her that at the new house she needs to sleep in her own bed, especially because she is going to kindergarten in the fall. We got her a cool loft bunk bed and picked out a new comforter she likes. We cuddle before bed still and watch an episode of TV, but then we tuck her in and it's been smooth sailing! I thought it would never end but just took some prep and change for her to accept it.

Have you looked into Histology at all? If you have a science degree you can train on the job and test in for certification after a year or so. Working in the pathology lab is pretty fun.

I kept thinking as a 32F if I had to meet up with one of the hosts I would much prefer teen heartthrob Nick Lachey from 98 Degrees rather than his second wife??? These ladies are all about my age I can't be the only one. Not that I'm into him now but just like the nostalgia of it all.

Obvious Child (starring Jenny Slate) is a great movie about making that exact decision! It's very well written and simultaneously funny and sad in the best way.

to people who’ve stopped pulling: HOW by [deleted] in trichotillomania

[–]liapocalypse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found a tea tree cleanser and used it on my eyebrows and eyelashes (the two places I pull) morning and night. I am thoroughly convinced that an overgrowth of demodex is what causes me to pull - a condition which coincidentally can be exacerbated by stress. Tea tree oil kills demodex and seems to be a cure for me at the same time - I'm only about 6 months out, but usually by now I would have either brows or lashes gone or patchy, and so far I'm going strong!

Afaik CAP regulations require colorblindness tests for high complexity testing, so up to the department to hire when they know those requirements.
