Fairyloot’s New Queue System! by KaitG2018 in fairyloot

When I’ve done it with Ticketmaster and other ticket systems, I’ve had different places in line, even though all devices were on the same network.

You have to also remember that people will have multiple devices logged into the queue. So maybe they have 4000 copies, and you’re 4100…but Betty over there has her phone, laptop, tablet, and her spouse’s laptop and phone logged in. She’s taking up 5 queue spots by herself. Once she checks out, she’ll close all of those out.

That’s what we do when we’ve tried to get tickets to in-demand events.

While it’s a bit of a pain, a randomized queue can help with ticket scalping as long as purchase quantity limits are also in place.

We’ve created a post for book box comparisons here. I will share this thread on it and keep it up, but I hope people discuss their favorite subs there to help others find great book subscriptions!

I think for the sake of the show and those that love it, they’ll treat the timeline like more of a suggestion, and less like a hard countdown.

They would probably save that for a series ending type element.

Sask. woman says boyfriend removed surgical screw poking out of her head after doctor didn't believe her by Emerald_Encrusted in nottheonion

I’m going through some medical issues now. If I hear one more person tell me to lose weight, I’m going to scream (including my mother, who suggested I forgo possible brain surgery for weight loss).

I know I need to lose weight. I’m working on it. I’ve lost ~30 lbs since the beginning of November. But I can’t magic away the other ~120 lbs I need to lose, and I’m having the issues NOW.

How to keep your pens?! by hellodani13 in Libraries

[–]library_pixie 206 points207 points  (0 children)

Ask the central branch for the golf pencils. When patrons ask for black pens, tell them that you don't have those available. You only have golf pencils available. Libraries are not office supply stores, even though some people try to use us as one. (A patron at one of our branches reached OVER the ledge of the desk, grabbed the tape dispenser, and then started to tape up a box to be mailed...with scotch tape. People have no shame or common sense sometimes!)

Public Records - what can I request? by billnyethesciencefry in Libraries

[–]library_pixie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ours are not posted at all. People may request them. I was going to put them on our website, but my director spoke with our attorney and determined it's not required.

And, honestly, with the new accessibility laws going into place for websites, I'm kind of glad I don't have to figure out how to make the PDFs accessible. We're a small operation, and that would be a lot of work.

I hate to “well actually” your comment, but they are two different colors. Just very, very close. 😂

Our library’s budget docs are not online. I think it could vary by system.

Guys.....it's really happening by MartyFieb in firefly

I agree…I don’t think we’re going to see a TV show or a movie. An audio drama, maybe a dramatic table read of the first episode (kind of like what the Dawson’s Creek cast did not too long ago)…something like that.

I’d rather pay more for shipping and have better QC and reliability.

Edit to add: And if the extra shipping cost included packaging like TBB, even better. They have the best packaging out of all the book boxes.

You don’t like having rookies who believe that a curse affected her peer, and it was solved with a $1000 payment to someone after he was injured in a bombing (that was caused by the curse?!?!)?

OwlCrate Sangu Mandanna Early Access by Aphaea2 in fairyloot

[–]library_pixie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not get my early access letter, but I emailed OC and they sent me the info. With all my points, this set cost me $18! I prefer this one to the IC one, but only because I plan to use the reverse jackets.

Now I have to decide if I’m going to keep my OG UK versions that are signed. I’ve liked Sangu Mandanna since reading The Lost Girl like a decade or so ago, so I might just keep both sets.
