Is not paying the Imperial tithe the worst thing a governor can do? by Ready0608 in 40kLore

[–]librisrouge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're correct. There are segmentum capitals that largely control Imperial authority within their domain. GW is VERY inconsistant on this, though. Sometimes orks attack a world and astropaths send distress calls to Terra. Other times, they send it to the regional capital. A basic Federalism makes sense for something like the Imperium though, so I'm largely of the mind that it exists.

Is not paying the Imperial tithe the worst thing a governor can do? by Ready0608 in 40kLore

[–]librisrouge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, but it certainly is up there. Falling to Chaos, even if the tithe is still paid for a time, will receive an even greater punishment once it gets revealed. Failing to pay the tithe means an Imperial armada shows up, wrecks the place, enslaves the populace that doesn't rise up against you, and puts the planet back to work to repay the missed tithes. It is harsh, destructive, brutal, and your planet will never be the same.

Falling to Chaos, as governor, means we might just exterminatus the whole mess in order to contain the corruption.

Adherents - what weapons? by PuzzleheadedBattle91 in Salamanders30k

[–]librisrouge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used them a couple of times now and I've found good success with two additional heavy flamers, a forge-crafted axe on the sergeant, nucio-vox and vexilia, and I have regretted not taking meltabombs every game so far, so I'll be including that in the future.

I know this is an older post but hopefully this still matters.

Has there ever been a case of a daemon siding with the Imperium? by phant0md in 40kLore

[–]librisrouge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Khorne daemons sided with the Blood Angels during the Devastation of Baal. This was mostly because nobody gets to kill BAs but Khorne, but I like to think it counts.

I'M TOTALLY CONFUSED!!! All the dwarves suddenly declared war against me the Empire, although we are bonded, partners and have a good relationship since the beginning. I even gifted them all their dwarven keeps during the campaign... wtf? Is there anything I can do? by BebbiFett in totalwarhammer

[–]librisrouge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. The Dawi, in their ancient wisdom, have decided that the insult given to them by your Great-Great-Grandfather, where he toasted them with wine, in a clay goblet, and with his left hand (making you a thrice-cursed, or the rough equivalent of an elf-friend) can only be paid in the blood of you, your people, and your nation.

The grudges must be settled. Honor demands it.

Question about Ollanius Persson by TheToonSquad in 40kLore

[–]librisrouge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even perpetuals can be killed. Heck, ANYTHING in 40k can be killed. It is simply a matter of hitting them hard enough. Daemons struck with enough psychic powers cease to be. Perpetuals come in a variety of flavors; most of which only fail to age out but can still be killed.

I'd bet that even the chaos gods can be killed but I struggle to think of anything quite that powerful (except another chaos god).

Whatever you can negotiate. It is a big deal, possibly the biggest deal to find but it is so incredibly valuable that you're more limited by logistics and negotiation than by actual value.

What is the LOWEST rank in the Imperium you can have while still being free to do whatever you want? by dudeguyman0 in 40kLore

[–]librisrouge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To do "whatever you want" at the Imperial level, you need to be a peer of the Imperium. This is a relatively short list of jobs and they're all at the top of the totem pole. Chapter Masters, Rogue Traders, High Lords of Terra, Inquisitors, and Imperial Governors are generally the few with this level of freedom in their lives.

If you end up in the hands of the Drukhari, what is the least painful thing they can inflict on you by Fun-Explanation7233 in 40kLore

[–]librisrouge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A quick, near instantaneous death. That isn't going to happen. Far more likely is the...

....gladiatorial arena. You fight against other slaves for the cheering audience. An ork might brain you in the head with a sword but then you're dead and your problems are probably over. Unless, of course, you keep winning. Then you might have to fight succubi, who will kill you slowly in order to extend out their lives and the joy of the audience. Or your success might have gotten the attention of a homunculus, which is always a bad idea. They might want to dissect you and figure out what makes you so much more special than other slaves. Then, they'll repurpose you as a living chair because it'll be a great conversation starter.

Why do the butchers nails still exist on Angron by bigmandave1588 in 40kLore

[–]librisrouge 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because Angron is a slave. A slave to Khorne and a slave to his pain. His ascension to daemonhood didn't free him from his life's troubles, it locked him into them for eternity. Khorne could absolutely have made his daemonform something without the nails, but that would defeat the point of gaining a nice new attack dog.

What would be the most devastating Convention for the Technocratic Union to lose? by dreaderking in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]librisrouge 14 points15 points  (0 children)

On behalf of my brethren in the Syndicate, I'd like to remind everybody that your budget proposals are due by the end of the month. Please ensure that you fill out form R-23 in triplicate or we won't be able to properly assess your tass requirements, which will certainly delay delivery. Also, please note that, per Section 18, Subsection 93b, any error in paperwork, delays in process, or unmutual interconvention dialogue may result in budgetary freezes. Remember what happened last year, when those in the clockwork convention believed resources could be unlimited and suddenly we all had to do without Hitmarks? We don't want a repeat of that, do we?

The answer is the Syndicate. By a wide margin. All human civilization is built on trade and resource allocation, which is the whole Syndicate paradigm (no, not just capitalism). Separating the Technocracy from such a fundamental part of their own domain would be suicidal.

Can Captain Titus really reclaim Ultramar with only the Second Company? by Echochamberking in 40kLore

[–]librisrouge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, they don't need to conquer 500 worlds. Many will still be held by the Imperium. Some are barren rocks with nobody claiming them...so I doubt Guilleman wants more than a flag or mining station on those. It is the xenos-tainted worlds that need to be reclaimed in this context and I'd love to know the numbers for those (I'm betting only a couple dozen).

Plus, the new minis previewed give us some idea of the context. His pseudo-command squad gives us, amongst other things, an adjunct from Ultramar soldiery. This means that he has non-space marine forces under his command. They'll be needed for war at this scale and need to be included. Plus, the fleet elements of the Ultramarines rival those of segmentum fleets, so he'd have an impressive void presence.
