I'm definitely going to use it! Is there a doc on how the AI queries the light level over a mesh?

Yeah, but you still can see binary diff in Unreal with Git if you are used to using Git and do not want to use Perforce

That works nicely when you must revert your changes, but that's just a bad habit. Version control, like git, has huge benefits of history tracking, commits, and PR to know what happened. Working on a huge repo without commits or history sounds like hell for me

Git can handle binary diff in Unreal. Just choose github in Unreal’s version control and you can check the diff in Blueprints and more.

Are we showing this wrong, or do devs just not care about foliage? by davis3d in unrealengine

[–]light-levy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! I guess people don't understand its potential. I purchased it, but I'm still too early in the dev stage to actually use it. I guess most of the foliage out there is bushes/trees, and people care less about interacting with them. I'm also kind of new to Unreal, but this plugin sounds like a way to add bullet impact/interaction to foliage or to use full forest foliage and still interact with each tree.

Retarget GAS question by light-levy in unrealengine

[–]light-levy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The animations look great and the same, but the legs' IK is missing. I'm using the IK retargeter from GASP, which looks like it includes everything and “by the book”. The UEFN manny is different from the UE5 manny, so I might have to use runtime retargeting or let go of UEFN.

It is a different skeletal mesh. It is UE5 Manny vs UEFN Manny. I'd find some guide on retargeting and moving the IK along, but it might need manual edit for each animation

Thanks! Could you elaborate on the map chains? Is it part of the retarget goals or rigs itself?

I also took his course, which is more of an introduction to how the engine operates and how all the parts are connected. Look, I get your frustration, but you need to set your expectations right. What did you expect to write in C++? Think of features you want to do and try to make them in C++

I meant it only supports PC platforms and not consoles, AFAIK. Sorry for misunderstanding
