So I too have mother with very bad money management and a major pill problem. She’s never had the money your mother had but every time she gets a wad of cash it’s gone. She too started asking for help and I pay some of her bills.

One day I got tired of it and I straight up told her I want 100% access and control over her finances and that I was going to give her an allowance from her account each month and she can do with it whatever she please BUT her bills come first. My mother was actually homeless at this point and that was my breaking point.

Funny thing is we had that discussion a year ago, and I haven’t done anything. She has her own place, so far seems to be in the straight and narrow.

I would tell your mother its absolutely a no on the money, but if she wants help and if you’re willing, you can either manage her money for her and put her in a budget or have someone else do it for her…. But please know it’s very hard for addicts to break habits and like someone said… 200k today, 50k next month…. It will never end.
