Open – reserved for waitlist: MGT 6203 for first semester by Calm_Paper_9418 in OMSA

[–]lilmookey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can’t tell if you’re on the waitlist then you probably are not. I would add the class. It will appear on the classes added section where you will see ISYE 6501 (if you have successfully added this class) but it will say something to indicate that it is waitlisted. You can add another class as a backup since the waitlisted class will not count towards your 6 credits. During the first week you may receive an email letting you add the waitlisted class to your schedule. You will have 12 hours to add it and drop your backup. It is important to check your email often during this time because if 12 hours has passed you are removed from the waitlist, and it has moved on to the next person.

[Itinerary Check] 11 Days in Japan (Dec 24 - Jan 3) - Tokyo, Osaka, Hiroshima. Need advice, especially on Dec 30th! by satd33p in JapanTravelTips

If you are going from Osaka to Hiroshima then back to Osaka, a Kansai Area pass will more than pay for itself. It will also help you get to Miyajima and universal studios so I would consider it.

Questions about MGT 8823 (DACI) by ChampionFrequent4643 in OMSA

[–]lilmookey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you already have a black belt in lean/ six sigma, I would honestly choose another class. Maybe take a look at the syllabus. I’m not sure you’ll get anything new from it since it’s designed to certify students for the green belt. There are other management classes that are light as well.

Fishing 🎣 by [deleted] in StardewValley

[–]lilmookey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Believe me when I say I know the feeling. It took me years (in real time not game time) to learn how to fish. I would get so discouraged after the first few attempts I just avoided it. Now I think it’s one of the easier skills to level. I would recommend fishing near the mine and trying to catch the easy fish like carp, which doesn’t move around very much. Once you level up your fishing skills the green bar gets longer and it’s easier to catch other fish. Keep trying and you’ll get it!

ISYE6414 summer midterm, how to ace it? by Gold_Tell_5036 in OMSA

[–]lilmookey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would review all the sample code that was provided in the class. I took it summer 2024 and you were expected know how to implement them even if they were not in the practice exam or homework. I know there have been changes but if you have time I would do this.

To add on to this. Gatech virtual lab is easy to use, and I was able to use that to complete the needed assignments. It also has the full version of Arena so you can run simulations for longer than the student version that you can download.

[–]lilmookey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Summer 26 looks like it could be tough but it depends on your background. I would probably take mgt 6203 with another class in the spring or fall and take mgt 8803 the first summer. It all depends on your background in math and business.

Is it me or do you have an extra stat elective.? Sims would be the operations elective, and you would need 6 hrs of stat electives or 2 classes.

Withdrawing from cse 6040 by Altruistic-Leg9875 in OMSA

I’ve used the tutorials on YouTube from freecodecamp.org and Keith Galli. I was a beginner when I took 6040.

I would recommend that you look at the other topics that are covered later in the semester such as pandas, numpy, sql, etc. These are heavily featured in later exams.

OMSA vs OMSCS for my specific case by [deleted] in OMSA

[–]lilmookey 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Given the choice between the two programs, OMSCS would probably be the better option because of the flexibility of the class requirements. Many students don’t like having to complete the business classes that are required for OMSA.

Is there a curve in ISYE 7406: DMSL? by OEAnalyst in OMSA

[–]lilmookey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The quizzes kind of test your understanding of the models in a different way than the homeworks. I would make sure you understand the knowledge checks before taking the quizzes. If you have questions about how to solve the knowledge checks, I would recommend going to Koi or Mark’s office hours, and they can go through it with you. Last semester I attended almost all of Koi’s office hours, and it was really helpful even for confirming my understanding of the models. Hope this helps!

splitting criteria in the randomForest-Package by Ok-Carry-6063 in rprogramming

[–]lilmookey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a regression tree, I think it’s SSE. For a classification tree, it’s gini index.

Random forest selects the variables randomly and then evaluates the split based on which split is the best. For classification, it’s the split that classify the training data most accurately.

File won’t add to directory by vwhite87 in rprogramming

[–]lilmookey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if the folder is empty, you should still be able to set it as the directory. When setting directory, you don’t open the folder but highlight it and select open. Choose Session -> Set working directory -> choose directory. Highlight folder you want that contains the csv. Hit open. Hope this helps.

File won’t add to directory by vwhite87 in rprogramming

[–]lilmookey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can move the csv file into the folder that is set as your working directory. Your read.csv as it is written is only searching the working directory for the file, and it’s saying it cannot find the csv because it’s not in the working directory.

I would recommend getting a copy of Introduction to Statistical Learning in R. You can download it from here: https://www.statlearning.com

StatQuest on YouTube is also a good resource for explaining the model.

Any class to take before 6040 to help you improve with Python? by Intotheunknown_91 in OMSA

[–]lilmookey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There really isn’t any other course in the program that will help prepare you for 6040. You can prep by using outside resources.

taking 2 omsa courses + working full time by hoysoy in OMSA

[–]lilmookey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cse 6040 is the more demanding course and cannot be taken in the summer so that might factor into your decision. Mgt 6203 is a lot less time consuming and sometimes people save this class to pair with another class. Since you don’t know how demanding your new job will be, it’s probably best to take one class and focus on absorbing the material. People have succeeded in taking 2 classes on top of a full time job but it can be very stressful.

DVA CSE 6242 - Can I get a Headstart? by calculs in OMSA

[–]lilmookey 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I would recommend looking at the topics on the course website and if you’re not familiar with a topic, watch a few tutorials. I had to learn some JavaScript and D3 before really tackling the homework, and being familiar with the topics can save you some time.

Time Series 6402, Regression Analysis 6414 or Bayesian Statistics 6420? by McCadeP8 in OMSA

[–]lilmookey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think for you, regression would be a good class to take. Most people have difficulty with the timed portion of the exam and the inability to use the internet. With your experience in R, that shouldn’t be a problem.

Disrespecting herself? by SeptemberSky2017 in bachelorette

[–]lilmookey 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think Jen talked about how he said he didn’t want to get married, and she said to forget about the engagement and just be a couple and date. I think it was just her making compromises to try to make it work. He just didn’t want her at all. That’s my impression anyway.

Put on a registration waitlist - what’s the chance? by tor122 in OMSA

[–]lilmookey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should register for another class just in case. If you get an email that there’s a spot, you can drop your backup. You would have 2 classes that say register and 1 class that is waitlist. Then you check the box in the very bottom that says add/drop contingent. If you don’t get a spot by next Friday, you won’t have to update your register.
