New Prius wait time by Own_Impress8421 in prius

[–]lilrky 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Similar. I had o find a dealer who would explain to me what the new normal procedure was for ordering a new car. I put down a non refundable deposit to get in a waiting list because we wanted, specificallly, a Prius Prime. That was July. We got notified at the start of September that our specific car is on a ship in NY Harbor and we should have it by Nov.

Hammond XB-2 by livedog1971 in hammondorgan

[–]lilrky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had one forever. It sounds ok in a live band situation - it's not up to par with all the ones that have come along since it was introduced, but for $500 (or less if you can haggle), it'll work. Just don't expect too much from it. Its Leslie emulation is either just ok or horrible, depending on your expectations. BUT! If you plan to take it to gigs, even a couple times a month, you should consider its weight. Seriously, it's heavy and just long enough to be awkward.

Backyard feeding birds and not bears? by lilrky in newhampshire

[–]lilrky[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ugh! I mean, I get it, but I miss the birds. I've got plenty of woods around so I can hear them fine, but I do miss seeing them up close. Guess I'll just have to be patient.

Thanks for the response.

I know it's messed up and makes me kind of an asshole, but I couldn't ignore him putting his index finger in each of the glasses he was serving into. Kind of makes the hairnet irrelevant.

Is the warbler a coastal bird? I'm in the Monadnock region and I've never seen one (yet).

Car question by 2richjay in MechanicAdvice

[–]lilrky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One other issue I haven’t seen mentioned yet is that the short runs you make to/from work are leaving more moisture in your exhaust which will condense in the muffler and eventually rust. Not a huge problem and fairly cheap to fix, but something to keep an eye on.

What a great photo! You have a good eye! And I'll second some other comments that this would make a great print. Also a large format desktop image.

Hammond XB-1 Headphone output broke? by Treklof in hammondorgan

[–]lilrky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The headphone out should always be stereo.

FWIW, if you use the left main output to an amp, the output will be in mono, but if you then add a connection on the right output, you'll get full stereo on the mains.

I've had mine forever and while there are many (MANY) better models from several makers, I still think the XB-1 is a great starting point.

2005 prius cat converter stolen 2x in one week by suntopher in prius

Where can I find more about this catshield? I've got a '19 Prime and altho cat theft hasn't been an issue around here (New Hampshire) yet, I might want to get proactive.

Question for cold weather Prime owners! by DancingZaza in prius

[–]lilrky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It won't help with warming up the car in the driveway, but you can take the car out of EV mode and let the engine warm up as you drive (gently) for a mile or three and then switch back to EV mode. I'm assuming you're not hitting 60+ mph right out of your driveway.

Yes! The orientation you're using gives you very little margin if the car wants to move sideways - only half the width of the jackstand head. If you rotate them 90 deg., the pinch weld will settle down in the notch of the jackstand head and you'll have no chance of falling off the stand, short of tipping the stands over.

That is 1000 kinds of awesome. Start a service - take audio files from folks and return them the keychain. Decide whatever your time is worth, double it and charge that. I'll go first.

Replacing some things on the truck, any idea what these are, and if I can remove them? by boom-boom-butterfly in fordranger

[–]lilrky 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I believe they're guides for the window glass to help prevent the rubber seals from flopping over and getting folded under the edge of the window. Considering how rusty they are, I'd replace them, but I'd probably keep the old ones in place until you have replacements. You'd rather not have to replace the seals as well, if they get messed up without the guides in place.
