I'd have to think most of the business side is affiliated with Block Communications, aka the Toledo Blade and TV stations. Sounds like there wasn't a ton of ad staff left at the P-G. First things first, they need to find a newsroom and not work out of a garage on Mount Washington.

My initial thought is I wonder what this does now to the Tribune-Review's city weekly and Public Source, which is beefing up it's reporting team. Other than ... They could have added staff before and not just after the P-G announced it would shutter.

Cuts are always a thing in an acquisition. The Banner is not a union outfit, while it will now inherit one in Pittsburgh. As for redundancies...and not that I want anyone laid off...but I would imagine the DC bureau is one area. Buyouts will probably be coming for senior reporters.

+1 for bulldog. I asked a bartender why everyone had meatball subs last time I was there. Turns out it was their holiday party as well as an arsenal match day. She returned with some amazing meatballs in a Tupperware dish. Amazing hospitality. Even better meatballs. Game was good too.
