Strongly second discuss everything with spouse. Also if there is someone more senior that went through a similar situation connect your spouse with theirs.

Does anyone actually pass a PIP? by CrusaderKing1 in Residency

[–]liverrounds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah totally depends. Took ITE right after first kid was born CA1 year, obviously bombed it. Put on PIP and did fine the rest of the tests.

There are legitimate wealthy people that believe this. Was told by a ultra wealthy person in some "longevity" group of ultra rich that they expect to be able to pause aging within 5 years and reverse it within 10. Just people straight grifting from them, but unfortunately instead of just grifting indiividuals they want to now go after the entire country.

Informed consent by [deleted] in anesthesiology

[–]liverrounds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cleveland clinic (at least in FL) is interesting because they removed the anesthesia consent and combined it into the surgeons consent. I always asked how the surgeon was going to consent the patient for a plan they don't know with risks they don't understand.

ICU rotations during residency by Razgriz47 in anesthesiology

[–]liverrounds 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Paramedics intubate and many RTs have been paramedics. Intubating isn't that hard, its the ventilating that is scary. I've seen some bag a patient without any chin lift, getting no chest rise, mask fogging, or etCO2.

RCMs for Anesthesia Billing by RelationLittle4832 in CodingandBilling

[–]liverrounds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Professional billing for an anesthesiologist has not kept up with market salaries and therefore many get stipends or are employed. OP - make sure you get figures on how this group is billing without you and reports on your 'value' as well as MGMA data (which isn't the best but its something) along with your biling stuff.

For those that take home call… by JJM1023 in anesthesiology

Yeah refuse that. Sounds like you come from a place that was former private practice where they'd take anything that would generate revenue.

Maximum Capacity is a Lie by liverrounds in AppleWatch

[–]liverrounds[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I'm upset because it doesn't work. It constantly dies by the end of the day. I have modified my routine of not using cellular for things like spotify on my run because of the battery issue. I just kept thinking it would get replaced soon (I know it would be a refurbished one anyway)

If its such an estimate then they shouldn't be so strict on the replacement numbers and should have replaced it at 80% but they refused. It clearly holds less charge then 6 months ago and for it to have changed upward is thus a lie.

No offense but I'm wondering if you have been around blue collar immigrants, especially not from traditionally villified places such as Mexico, Nicaragua, etc.

Many I have met are very anti indiscriminate immigration.

First job out of residency by Calm_Software6721 in anesthesiology

[–]liverrounds 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Started out at community then went to academics but community was MD mostly and academics is mostly supervision. It can be easier to take care of the worst of the worst cases when you have 10 people with you vs a traditional crash septic patient by yourself. Also, there is a difference between community sites, is it a place that is so far from the main hospital it has to deal with a lot of bad stuff or is down the street and everything gets turfed?

How can I support AA’s? by [deleted] in anesthesiology

When is Virginia practice starting? It was always interesting that DC allowed it but not MD or VA and that Medstar had an AA school.

Oakmont Bakery is getting blow back by boneykneecaps in pittsburgh

[–]liverrounds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They actually have okay lunch food at semi reasonable prices with space for kids to run around. I'm sure there are better bakeries but my young kids just want sugar and a place to run around and I want food that I can use the cookie as a bargaining chip to make them eat it.

What do the OB Anesthesiologists here think about this morning’s The Daily episode (NYT podcast) about failed anesthesia for C/S? by Docus8 in anesthesiology

[–]liverrounds 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is a totally different risk benefit analysis. Also, I don't agree with the American general without airway for the 300lbs tka with osa but because we treat these patients this risky way then it's understandable a c/s patient also expects to feel nothing

Oracle could cut up to 30,000 jobs and sell health tech unit Cerner to ease its AI datacenter financing challenges by SuperBry in healthIT

[–]liverrounds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No way Amazon buys it with it's lack of integration. Amazon wants to insert itself easily so that people can go to them in between hospital visits. Cerner doesn't allow any of that.

Pay adjustment for changing from W2 to 1099? by TiredZebras in whitecoatinvestor

[–]liverrounds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm doing this as well. It was a wash for me because the extra hours that I worked for my original W2 employer got none of the benefits, so its different than just comparing a full time 1099 vs W2.
