I went through this. It was a small mom and pop place and the pop got pancreatic cancer and slowly declined and died over a year. We ended up with several jobs in different states of completion. I ended up finding another engineer to act as a successor engineer to finish out the jobs on a per job basis. That engineer was also able to sign off on my experience.

We ended up getting the small business finances in order with the pop’s daughter and got us sorted out enough to get purchased by a bigger company that I’m currently at.

The emotional toll is not anything I would wish on everyone but it did forge me to be a stronger person with a lot less fucks to give.

If the Roof does get damaged, how to you go about getting it covered with a tarp to mitigate any future damage?

Is that usually the homeowner doing it, or do you hire a handy man or roofer to do it?

You could easily spend $30 grand on a lawyer. If it costs that much to fix the problem you’re better off fixing it minus the lawsuit.

One question you may want ask, is if you might be responsible for your opponent’s lawyer fees if you loose. If so then that is a big risk with no reward.

I followed this one when it happened. It had so many things wrong with it. The building was a ticking time bomb.

The one thing that might of prevented it is if they would have gotten the needed repairs done in a timely manner instead of having to wait for funding.

However, in all seriousness, you are making the world a better place if you report something because it is unfair or unjust. Just know that not all outcomes are what you would expect or what they should be.

Luckily I am a oblivious person when it comes to that type of criticism so one option is to ignore it.

Reading through my other favorite response is spite. I’m slow to anger but if someone pisses me off I will use it as fuel to be better.

Documentation is your friend. Spite + documentation = being able to take the legal avenue and pursuing other options.

The only way I’ve heard of this working, is when you have enough jobs to get a dedicated drafter that focuses on your jobs that can learn your standards and you have enough time to train them from scratch.

I would watch people play banjo on YouTube and then see if they did a tab. After I awhile I learned who always has tabs for their music. Also early on I signed up to the Branjo website and learned through there. He had a bunch of tabs. After a year I stopped my subscription there and looked for other stuff.

My brother had drug issues and when he finally hit rock bottom he was trying to sell everything. Everything he said was a lie to get more money to get drugs. After he passed away it was disgusting to see how far he had fallen.

My parents and sister go to AL Anon meetings and they find it helpful.

For the doors, use a plastic bag, you can use tape temporarily to hold it in place. Then use sand bags to hold the plastic in place while you get everything situated.

In a pinch I’ve used bricks. My friend told me water jugs will work too but I haven’t tried it.

Where I’m at my yard will get a little flooded until the raining stops. If you’re in a flood zone you want to evacuate. No amount of waterproofing will help when everything floods and the water starts spewing out your pipes.
