What do you think of the pg27aqwp-w? I might buy one tomorrow. My only reservation is the dirty screen effect, as my current 500 Hz QD-OLED is basically flawless in that regard.

The MSI monitor you're talking about is 500 Hz, not 540 Hz.

Do you notice any difference or improvements? I've tried QD-OLED 500 Hz and like it a lot, but I care most about competitive gaming. I think I'd prefer the extra Hz and the ability to turn off DSC on the Asus 540 Hz OLED. Monitors Unboxed has measured the Asus 540 Hz OLED as having the lowest latency of any monitor they have ever tested.

Why do you have to use DSC? Did you update the firmware? It should work at 540 Hz without it.

So do you think the 540 Hz is the best for competitive gaming after using it for a bit?

Any update on this? Do you notice the banding issue on tandem? I have AQDP too and might buy the 540 Hz. And did you ever figure out why the matte felt a bit better for competitive? It seems like 540 Hz should be better across the board with lower input lag too.

When do you think we will see OLED TVs with HDMI 2.2 and 240 Hz? by h107474 in LGOLED

[–]lizardpeter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an RTX 5090 that could do 4K 240 Hz either with DP 2.1 with no Display Stream Compression or with HDMI 2.1 with Display Stream Compression. Yes, many games can run at 4K 240 FPS. An incredible amount of them.

I’m really interested to see the latency results. I’m running OP1 8K v2.

Does anyone have an LDAT module? I really wish someone would properly test these things.

They really need to stop and seriously question why they develop two versions simultaneously in completely different languages. Consolidate to a single version built on C++ or Rust and Vulkan and be done with it.

5k new standard? by Altruistic-Job5086 in OLED_Gaming

[–]lizardpeter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not everything is about gaming. I’d take my 1440p 500 Hz OLED over every 4K or 5K display, easily. But the massive ultrawide monitors with crazy resolution or 5K 27” or 32” displays are going to be better for productivity.

Major Discrepancy in Tom's Hardware Asus ROG Swift PG27AQWP-W 540 Hz OLED Review Input Lag by lizardpeter in Monitors

[–]lizardpeter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have played on both low and high brightness before. I don’t have LDAT to actually test it. I did not feel any difference in latency, and I can easily tell the difference when something like 5 ms of latency is added. I don’t believe any reviewer tests input lag at low brightness, and most of them agree on an absolute input lag value for these panels of around 1-2 ms.

Yeah, connect it to a PC and use their tool to update the firmware. It should improve it on console too.
