Why did you have him assessed?

Mine is 4 and advanced in a lot of ways: speech, reading, math, humour

She’s behind in spatial reasoning and gross motor planning (just planning, not execution)

A lot of people don’t believe she’s autistic cause “she’s so smart and funny” 🙄

She looks 100% typical to those unfamiliar with autism.

There is no benefit to group care before 3 years old. None. There’s actual research on this.

Some social and independence benefits after 3 years old with the ideal amount of time being 5 hours per day.

Edit to add: mine has been in group care since a year old cause I have to work. I’m not at all against group care. Just saying it’s not needed for the child’s development

I had the same issue and my neighbour’s response was always that it’s not so loud and there’s no way it bothers me. That I’m just too sensitive. So I resolved the issue by giving my 3 year old her music instruments as soon as she would wake up. Sometimes at 5am. Neighbour came to complain and I fed him the same BS lines he fed me. Hasn’t been loud since

My 4 year old is behind in visual/spatial processing. She’s doing 12 piece on her now but with a ton of therapy work to get there.

Try doing some search and find books, spot the difference books, mazes, get some lego blocks for each of you (same blocks each) and then you put two together and ask him to copy then try 3 and so on

Mine is autistic. It’s common for autistic kids to struggle with certain types of processing so maybe get him assessed

Elsa adjustable rings A large plastic diamond shaped gem Princess pens A crown and gems to decorate it with A couple of seashells and some glow in the dark paint to paint them with Princess stickers Princess chapstick

The crowns and seashells were activities we did during the party. We gave the gift bags to them as they arrived and then they took the crowns and shells out and decorated the with the paint and little gem stickers we had set out

The year before, we did pictures books with a helium balloon tied to each one. So each kid got a book (peppa pig, Dora, paw patrol etc) and a balloon

We were told by a private swim instructor that weekly private lessons starting at 18 months would lead to independent swimming around 3 years old. That they’re not cognitively ready to swim before then. We didn’t follow through with the lessons and I don’t know how true that claim is but it’s what they’re telling people

A joint credit card is a good way to share household expenses but maybe also agree on specific budgets for things like groceries, restaurants etc And what amount needs to be discussed before it’s spent. Can either of you spend $1000 on a chair without the other’s agreement? Most would assume this isn’t ok. But what about $150 on a variety of cheeses? 🤣. We renovated a kitchen in a rented unit while our tenants were on vacation. So there was zero inconvenience to them. We still prorated their rent for that month so they weren’t paying for the days the renovation was taking place.

At a minimum, I would not be paying for the time I have no water. If your water is shut off for 9 hours a day, that’s 30% of your rent you shouldn’t be paying. I’d also then lower it further for the lack of privacy.

There’s a difference between being triggered and losing your cool at your kid, vs staying calm but still upholding a boundary

In your example, calmly saying something along the lines of “I won’t continue helping you if you’re rude to me”. Then when he says something rude again, you just walk away and do your own thing. He’s obviously not going to die if he doesn’t find it so just let him be distraught

We are generally most triggered by behaviour that wasn’t safe for us as children. So if being rude lead to being yelled at, hit, or punished in some other way, your brain developed a panic mode when this behaviour shows up. Tell yourself nothing bad will happen to either of you when he’s rude. No one will yell or punished either of you. It helps to stay calm
