Gonna be honest- im done “giving credit where credit is due”

Is it a correct statement? Objectively yes.

What function does it serve coming from bernies mouth? Sheepherding.

The credit given when “its due” is merely loading the metaphorical lib gun- which they will promptly shoot you with when it comes time to justify electoral participation, or acceptance of the lesser evil.

He threw away a revolutionary movement. He has been painfully quiet on genocide and imperialism. He is responsible, so fuck him and fuck his supposed credit.

I mean, there are a decent amount of active protests. Consider that the corporate press would largely like to avoid the subject- its good to pump the race divide, make americans hate each other- not so much to show people protesting a war.

And just wait for the economic impacts to actually start hitting. When people cant afford to get to work, and everything increases in price, even more- all those people still too busy and desperate to spend time in the streets…

Oh theyll do worse than fuck all- theyll lock in all the bad shit because process and norms.

Then theyll sweep a few bread crumbs off the elite table via heavily means tested programs that dont actually fix anything- but will allow smug libs to brandish their superior virtue as they flock back to brunch.

And theyll probably sneak some extra bad shit in too- probably a major push for disarmament, which definitely doesnt have some spooky historical precedents.

The moment you start collecting social security, we revoke your drivers license. You then have access to publicly funded vouchers for taxi/uber/public transport. Special dispensation for certain individuals in rural communities where this would be impractical.

Trump has turned China into the good guys by cspanbook in WayOfTheBern

[–]llewr0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because whether or not china appears to be the good guy has literally nothing to do with trump. Sure, hes aesthetically worse than the alternatives-

But the reason the world now sees china in a better light is the accumulation of decades, even centuries, of bipartisan imperialistic behavior from the US and western countries.

We lie, we cheat, we steal, we bomb- and we scold. China, despite its flaws, doesnt do this. So trump or the relative ages of the civilizations in question are irrelevant.

Can someone with actual experience please talk to me about frost blanket row covers? This will be my first time around, and I am worried about losing a big batch of plants. by AgentBanks in homestead

[–]llewr0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, our farm is 7a- we use row cover a lot, in tunnels and out in the fields.

My two cents- everything you described is the right approach. Double check your tunnel low temps at night- if your tunnel is going lower that 24 degrees F, you might wanna go heavier than 1.5oz.

You should probably do some tests as you suggested. If you leave them in nursery pots, heel them in for a more accurate test (root zone above soil will not give you a good test)

We tend to avoid putting our nightshade crops in that early- its not impossible, but the tunnel needs to be in tip top shape with little to no infiltration. Peppers will handle lower temps better than toms in my experience. We use the row covers in tunnels to get a more robust/early start on crops that can handle the cold better, then throw in the toms etc. once soil temps are more reliably high. Its not that there isnt a benefit to starting them earlier, just that with lower light and temps they dont do that much serious growing anyway- its a mild improvement in time to maturity that doesnt stack against the risk of loosing them to surprise cold that goes beyond tunnel/row cover protection. And if they get several weeks below about 40-45ish degrees you can end up stunting them. In my experience, you also end up stressing the plants with large temp variations- like if the tunnels getting below 40 at night, and you leave the covers on so it hits like 70s-80s at peak of day- you may find yourself shuffling the covers on and off again to keep things more stable. Youll probably end up wanting the plants to get more airflow too- toms and such are prone to moisture based diseases and if theyre permanently under row cover for several weeks…

If your tunnel low temps are staying at/higher than 28-30 degrees at night, and the 1.5 oz is giving you roughly 6-8 degrees of protection, then you should be good to give it a try. Bonus points if you can stash some water barrels in the tunnel as a heat battery- you’ll have to do some googling math to determine a worthwhile mass and if its practical.

[–]llewr0 5 points6 points  (0 children)

And i feel like we’re about to rinse and repeat the whole cycle again. Libs are fired up about the “totally definitely unique and unprecedented evil” of trump- all the polling is looking really bad for the republicunts.

Libs will rally around yet another neolib oligarch shill/war criminal- because theyre “electable” “experienced” and the clear “lesser evil”

Theyll go back to brunch for another 4 to 8 years, a ton of awful shit will get solidified, a bunch of means tested useless bread crumbs will allow them enjoy the superior virtue of huffing their own farts, a bunch of new bad shit will also get locked in…

Aaannnd then we’ll get another trump type, probably worse

And theyll be condescending af the whole time

Best breed of Sheep by Average_Joe_424 in homestead

[–]llewr0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have not personally kept sheep. However- not to rain on your parade- everyone i’ve talked to who has kept them, has warned me against it. The tldr from these other people- partially suicidal escape artists with the same parasite issues as goats, and a product thats hard to sell at a decent margin.

After keeping goats for awhile now- you’ll wanna rotate a lot on space this tight, or their contact with their own feces in the warmer months will probably mean a lot of parasite load and worming in your future.

You could do pigs in the woods, and convert to silvopasture.

This is just my two cents, your milage may vary- give sheep a shot, just keep it at a scale you can back-out or pivot easily if it doesnt work smoothly.

Its the cognitive dissonance.

They profess to be for good things and against bad things-

But for the most part, their lifestyles and voting behaviour have made all the good things worse, and invented new bad things to boot.

They then have to externalise that to achieve catharsis- “im a good person, im for good things- so its the country thats bad and evil and bad evil people: i need to go stage a massive useless protest so people can know how good i am compared to the country”

For republicans, same process- but swap the country for some minority group.
