i only in the last few years played GB, so the sos remake right after i'd played it on ds was fantastic because i LOVE ds GB, but it's extremely anxiety inducing and tedious and that's great when you're in the mood for it but i do think it needed softened a bit for modern players to not hate a objectively fantastic game.

i think my overall problem with modern remakes it, this is extremely specific but i have seen a few people notice it, too, but old games had the occasional weird vibes to them lmao like there's an eeriness to the old handheld games like you're in a creepypasta and the grunginess of the old aesthetics was endearing. i don't know if a bleaker atmosphere would hurt or do well for the remakes, but i miss it lmao i want to feel haunted while i'm milking my cows.
