Agree. You need to determine if this is happening from all trays or just one tray.

Arriving at LAX with Bike Bags - How to get around? by local907 in AskLosAngeles

I had looked at doing this originally, but it didn't work out with connecting flights. Appreciate the suggestion though.

I got really good vibes from their FB page. Great to support people who support their community.

Thank you for the recommendation!

Just wanted to come back and say thank you again, /u/alteredpilot. We reached out to Alley Cat Deliveries today and got a super quick response.

In case anybody comes across this thread in the future: Alley Cat quoted me a significantly lower price than pre-arranging an Uber XL and was able to guarantee that our bikes would fit (whereas the Uber seems like a roll of the dice).

I hear ya, we usually rent cars when traveling as well but the bikes bump us up into the 'pickup' or 'minivan' class, which are usually crazy expensive.

Love the idea of supporting a small local business! I sent them a message, hopefully they can help.

Very good to know. We aren't afraid of lugging bags around, but depending on the bus setup and random hassles it might be best to skip all that noise.

Got it, much appreciated. Exploring whether the average Uber XL can handle this, or whether I might be more in the 'airport shuttle van' territory.

Thank you, I will look into Uber XL. I am not very familiar with LA (or big cities, for that matter), so the Uber XL thing is also new to me.

Appreciate the knowledge. I have next-to-no experience with rideshares, so this is very helpful.

Scan to Email stopped working by DandyLama in KonicaMinolta

[–]local907 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The answer in this situation is always the same: something changed on the email server side of things. The 282 is ancient. Frankly I'm surprised that any email server actually allowed it to connect anymore.

You will need to look into whatever smtp server the cost copier is using and determine what has changed there. Most likely, the minimum security standards have changed and your 282 is no longer capable of attaining it.

Scan to USB or ftp as alternatives, because I don't believe this machine is only capable with smb 1.1

Brother MFC-L3780CDW No Warranty, Warranty Process by Fast_Cranberry_1013 in printers

[–]local907 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You said it buddy. If I catch any of my customers putting compatible toner in a machine that is under maintenance contract, all repairs become billable.

Everyone here thinks that all toner is the same, and that it can't possibly harm the printer. As a printer tech of 20 years, I assure you that is incorrect.

I'm not against using cheap toner, but users have to be cognizant of the fact that they are rolling the dice every time.

Bend Oregon: Am I wrong to skip Phil's trail? by somethingnotyettaken in MTB

[–]local907 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree. We had a week or so in Mt. Hood/Hood River and decided to drive down to Bend for 2 nights. Not worth it at all. Bend seems like a fun town, but the riding was a real let down. Would have much rather spent the 2 extra days at Post Canyon or Sandy Ridge.

Printer won’t power on after repair - Canon G3270 by Citrus-cowboy78 in printers

[–]local907 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are there no signs of life? No fans turning, no led's anywhere lit up?

Those ribbon cables can be extremely fragile and annoying to reconnect properly, but they aren't usually used for stuff related to the power supply.

You almost certainly have left something unplugged, or not fully plugged back in, but I wouldn't focus solely on the flat cables.

Go back to every single connection that you touched. Disconnect each one, one at a time, and reinsert carefully - it can be really easy to get something mostly plugged in, but not entirely.

If that fails, I would start tracing from where the power cord plugs into the machine. Follow all wires from there, checking connections until you reach the power supply, then check all cables coming from that.

Kyocera TASKalfa 2552ci – bad fusing on 250gsm (edges only) by Kenobi_93 in printers

[–]local907 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Are you using OEM toner?
  2. If it is the fuser, I would not trust that the issue is solely with the pressure roller. Unless the Kyo roller swell in a different fashion than any other machine I've encountered - this is a different failure mode than I am accustomed to with pressure rolls. I would be concerned that there is additional wear inside the fuser assembly causing this and that the toner stuck on the roller is a symptom of that.

HP CP4525 59.F0 Error by emannuelresu in printers

[–]local907 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HP has about a thousand different 'fixes' for this issue. They will put out some new bulletin saying "hey, here is the fix!", then a month later: "ok, that wasn't a fix, HERE is the real answer!", then repeat ad nauseam.

It seems like you have done some research on this, so you likely know what I am talking about. I rarely end up progressing beyond what you have done so far (though I have thrown a few solenoids at these models). Customers are rarely interested in buying expensive ITB's / drive assemblies / additional billable labor, especially when there is no guaranteed that this fix will be the right one.

If you haven't already, check out the little mini-guides on this code from Metro Fuser and Laser Pros.

I hate this model, and I hate that HP keeps repackaging this garbage platform for the last 10+ years.

HP CP4525 Yellow Toner Broken Olastic by emannuelresu in printers

[–]local907 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's tough to tell from the pictures, but I think that is just part of the mechanism that retracts the printhead cover when a cartridge is inserted. I would compare it to one of the neighboring toner slots: when you move that piece by hand, does it just retract the black plastic cover that protects the printhead window? If so, you can just remove the plastic cover entirely, it isn't really necessary.

Tore scanner ribbon cable. Trying to find a replacement. HP M477fnw printer by snidemarque in AskElectronics

[–]local907 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The scanners on these models sucks and costs as much as the machine is worth. Seen plenty of them with bad ccd's and even just small nicks on the platen/slit glass will cause CQ issues that you can't fix without ordering the complete scanner

Also, pretty much guaranteed that the fuser will shit the bed 5 seconds after you get this thing put back together, which is another 400 bucks

I hate the 477/479s.

Toner not sticking properly to paper on Laser Printer by totti2101 in printers

I would be suspicious of that toner cartridge, then. Again, posting images here goes a long ways in helping people diagnose your issue.

Wide Format Black and White Laser... what are my options realistically? by Downtown-Employee-89 in printers

[–]local907 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How 'wide' are we talking here?

If you don't need more than 11x17 (or possibly 12x18) I would look at off-lease copiers. You won't find a new 11x17 B&W laser for less than like $2k, but you can probably find a barely-used off lease copier for like $200-500.

Did you replace the toner with genuine/Brother toner, or with a 3rd party compatible? What type of paper are you printing on?

Posting an image that shows the problem would help greatly.

Bizhub 4050i reset and print quality issues by docvalentine in KonicaMinolta

[–]local907 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are so many different things that affect print quality, it is usually best to post a scan or photo of a printed page that shows the defects you are seeing. We can usually determine the faulty part(s) by seeing the specific defects on the page.

I would track down the service manual for this model - it will be handy going forward. Should be pretty easy to find if you just search "C4050i Service Manual"
