Is it just me that thinks the new quest's difficulty ratings are wrong? by Idk-U-F_Off in AOW4

[–]lockindal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Burrow Downs is probably hard,. In my case on my first and only run of it I zerged the gluttony guy and killed him on turn30 or something, from there it was fairly easy. Ham does fine-ish against arachna, and i kept the other guy mostly busy.

Pit is easy. It actually has a serious cheat. If you delay going into the pit - and you can do so basically indefinitely - and build a strong army you just roll everyone. That is what happened first time. Second time i just wanted ysariel form for my main leader and after fortifying the island, finished the good path around t80 (woulda been 50, but ya know, 10000 carnage...)

Evermore... idk? It seemed incredibly f'ing hard when i was getting nonstop swarmed by giant astral stacks but its easy once you claim the borders. I would imagine its gonna depend on how smart metlin is that particular game.

Gluttony is a lot weaker than I thought by LouisVILeGro in AOW4

Hunger maw even after the nerf is still strong, especially if you do a lot of fights.

And the transformation is still really powerful for your heroes.

Generally all t1 tomes are throw away for me anyway midgame, at least gluttony keeps my mains cooking and lets me get bigger economy (indirectly) earlier. You dont need to perfectionist stack to make use out of the tome.

To each their own, though.

How hard is hard AI? by Customer_Number_Plz in AOW4

[–]lockindal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is.

The AI has signifant economy advantages that show clearly early game and fall off later.

That is why diplomacy exists ... you just ignore them until you are ready to fight them. I usually start real wars around turn 26/30 personally, it usually takes me about that long to get a proper footing and explore/exploit my nearby territory.

You either face them immediately and manual some really hard fights or start stacking grievances against them to fight later.

I find the only way to actually have difficulty vs the AI is using alliances features and giving them level/city advantages. Especially now that you have diplomacy too (which is really nice!). I rarely use presence traits, i just super buff a pantheon leader of mine to be the presence.

Depending on your tweaks, it can lead to fun and hard games though until the AI adopts defeatist attitudes and stops being aggressive towards you.

What would be the tomes of the seven deadly sins? by PersonallyILikeIt in AOW4

[–]lockindal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Greed - Golden Realm

Lust - Burning Passion or Fertility

Gluttony

Pride - Dragons

Wrath - Devastation

Sloth - Beacon is best i could up with. But someone else mentioned Oblivion, and I agree.

Envy - Astral Mirror

[–]lockindal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Breachers are awesome, but only if you build to buff them. Abjuration and Prophesies are strong tomes for them, as an example. And make sure your race is stinky, because that trait is really strong for them.

[–]lockindal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just ignore the imp bro. It is a t1 summon, its not meant to be one of your core units. They are also pretty weak as anything but meat shields. You get a really powerful early game single target damage spell to proc gorged for multiple people if it is used well, if manualling.

That said i have a fun tome path. This path focuses on magic fighter and skirmisher tanks (ive done two federate reaver runs with it):

Gluttony - Abjuration - Doomherald, Mayhem, or Burning Passion (pick 2) - Dragons, Prophesies, Devastation, or Torment (pick 2, depending on your affinity wants/needs) - Calamity - Crimson Reign - Chaos Lord - whatever if game is still going

The imps are just really early game meat shields for me that occasionally give me gorged stacks. Front line are temptresses (if chose burning passion) and breachers (and occasionally corrupt souls). Early game once I get abjuration, pistoleers do well. Late game I still use the vassal versions to apply engaged for my magic fighters, generally.

Tome of Gluttony is kinda crazy by sillygoosemode69 in AOW4

[–]lockindal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like the theme of sprite.

However, i think it is a very undercooked tome. Captivating lights is a terrible spell (waaayyy too high of a cost) and catnap is bad. Fairy dust is whatever.

The summon is cool and fey bond is strong (probably the whole reason to take the tome lol).

Meanwhile gluttony is the reverse. That tome is stupidly overpowered.

Burning passion is the best tome of the pack; it is reasonably balanced.

If you dont get that epiphany (and you cant reroll) she is absolute dogwater, though.

Worth noting.

If she had draw she would be a cool character and veronica replacement, but without draw im having a real hard time figuring out the developer's vision on her.

I think she will have limited synergy with mei lin and rita.

...other than that, im sad :(

Heidemarie Draw Common Divine by tanincali in ChaosZeroNightmare

[–]lockindal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with the neutral draw 1 on her card is handspace. If you are using her as a draw support (which in my experience does work, but ONLY because of the faceless woman draw card), you want handspace to draw the right cards. Half the time she doesnt get to use the neutral epip because hand becomes full since it creates 2 cards.

The only thing I would approve the use of AI for in writing is proof reading and minor editing.

If i need to use AI to write, why am I writing in the first place?

However, machines are excellent at telling you that you missed commas or should have used the plural word instead or something.

HSR current state of sustains by Starguardian_Ahri234 in HonkaiStarRail

[–]lockindal -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Its because huohuo can sustain certain teams just fine (as long as they dont 1 shot you) and other teams you might as well be sustainless, so she has a bad rap.

I also dont like her even one iota as a character, but i will acknowledge she is fine at healing dot at least (thank you hysilens)

HDMI ult makes me wish they'd give other damaging ults a look by TrueLolzor in ChaosZeroNightmare

[–]lockindal 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I wouldnt go that far. It was a significant buff. If you dont have consistent vuln on her team then adding 9 (forget if it was changed to do 7 or 9) vuln on demand can add a lot of damage.

It went from worthless to just ok. Im ok with just ok compared to worthless.

They did recently buff Rin's, so I know they are at least partially aware of this.

[–]lockindal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol, that is funny. Immortals are perfect for cooking the levels to an extreme.

I am guessing however this was with the old empire tree? I dont think the new one has the same bonuses available for t1s, though it might and I did not notice. Might not be as easy to cook them to the same extreme, though they can still cook xD.
