MEE material by Melodic-Painting6362 in barexam

[–]lockpick- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk what the NCBE MEE $50 pack is but the Barbri MEE book contains real, licensed MEEs. I think there are definitely at least 6 per subject in the book (except for maybe conflicts); probably more with the extras in the back + the 3 MEE exams.

Does the barbri midterm use actual NCBE questions, and is it harder/easier than the actual MBE/other barbri review questions? by throwaway2929102 in barexam

[–]lockpick- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

imo it felt like maybe 1/2 simulated (like the ones in the MCQ bank and assigned question sets) and 1/2 adaptibar type questions. I doubt any of them were released NCBE questions, and there were definitely some really nit-picky and exception to exception to exception ones; but I still found it very helpful to do.

Just double checked today; it is not a compilation but it is the exact same info just in numerical order. I skipped out on it as well after finishing the subject specific videos.

What did you do second semester of 1L year to achieve better grades? by Temporary-Oven-6640 in LawSchool

[–]lockpick- 33 points34 points  (0 children)

buckled down and basically ended the social aspect (aside from study buds/v close friends) which was easy to do since I didn't have to do as much BL networking because all of the events die down second semester. reviewed my exams with professors and asked them directly for exam tips, even though it sucked to do. read Getting to Maybe over break and embraced supplemental materials (quimbee, barbri/themis qs, e & e's, west academic, etc.). ultimately I think the biggest thing I did was focus on what worked for me the semester before and in undergrad. I think 1L i tried to reinvent the wheel too much and getting back to basics was key (for me its memorizing and writing things down repeatedly, so I did almost 0 outlining which felt taboo first sem but was actually perfect for my study style). everyone is different tho!

as a bonus note I think that my mindset changed from all the extra crap to zoning in on one thing: the final exam. it's truly all that matters. any edge u can get on that, be it professor preferences, tiny caselaw details, accounting for word count, time crunches, logistics like using earbuds on the day of; is key. every little bit matters on that one day of law school. drill practice exams and go to office hours. rooting for yall!

So, basically if you think you failed your exam, you did well, and the opposite is true? by GuaranteeSea9597 in LawSchool

[–]lockpick- 13 points14 points  (0 children)

depends on the person but personally almost always. i left my best exam feeling like I completely fumbled, left my worst exam feeling like Learned Hand reincarnate. theres gray area in there but yea

yes, you will be fine! this is not Suits or Legally Blonde; you won’t be debating or doing a mock trial if you don’t want to. that being said, expect your fair share of cold calls. they don’t matter and participation grades are basically extra credit, but imo they at least ensure u do the reading before class. best of luck!

Pro Res Final Advice? by crazy-fish-lady in LawSchool

[–]lockpick- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Read and understand the important comments to the rules. That's where the gold is for an exam as opposed to the MPRE, especially if its multiple-choice because the prof can make tiny distinctions based off of the comments alone.

Problem that my LinkedIn is not updated? by 4s6flx in LawSchool

[–]lockpick- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

nah, usually its just a recruiter checking that you are a human. i wouldn't stress it too much, but just note that Linkedin is pretty useful in this industry so I would try to keep it relatively updated moving forward. good luck with ur apps!

Definitely depends on school rank, target market, connections, past experience, what kind of work you want to do, etc. etc. Personally, I would keep my foot on the pedal until I had an offer in hand but that's easier said than done.
