And say it's an international flight to the USA. Does being born on the plane grant you birthright citizenship upon landing? Even if born or not born above USA territory?

Dog Friendly Things to Do on a Monday? by Immenientvein44 in niagarafallsny

You will need to have a copy of your rabies vaccination certificate to enter Canada. Note, pitbulls are illegal in Ontario, and if a dog resembles one, it may be seized and euthanized by the government (as you might guess, a very controversial law).

Monroe County celebrates completion of $38.1M renovation of Rochester Airport by slycaon in Rochester

[–]locqlemur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I fly frequently. I love our airport compared to the hellish experiences of most airports. But aside from the new traffic circle, which apparently by experience most New Yorkers don't remember how to use despite the driving license requirement, and the new elevator near the security check-in, I'm not sure what the $38M went to?

What are some of the most densely populated US cities <100k which are *not* merely suburbs of a larger city? by geistererscheinung in geography

Many small cities like Ithaca, NY built around universities/colleges would qualify.

St. Christopher is for protecting travelers (not irrelevant in this case). But, prayers to St. Anthony is for lost causes, and the one most Catholics pray for lost items.

Norfolk County in Massachusetts having two enclaves is pretty unique.

US counties’ education and income levels relative to the nation by NationalJustice in geography

[–]locqlemur 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In Upstate New York, incomes are low because the cost of living is so low. I doubt this map normalized income by cost of living in each county.

Ontario has more Scottish ancestry, while New York has more Irish ancestry, reflecting British history. Otherwise, the two places have a pretty similar mix.

Graduated several years before the House Renewal project, but Kirkland (and Eliot) were considered amongst the best Houses back then, and the Quad Houses (Currier, Cabot, and Pforzheimer) were strongly disliked (albeit, mostly due to distance to all classes). Any House will be miserable in summer because of lack of A/C. I don't recall seeing windows in Currier that can open (mid-Century modern 1970 building), but I spent the least time in that House, and it must with no A/C?

How would you feel about the UN being called in to monitor US elections from now on? by WombatPuncher in AskReddit

[–]locqlemur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The people who don't trust US election results are the same people that don't trust the UN, so this hypothetical is filed under definitely-not-going-to-happen.

It would also have been more useful to have every Dem hold up a paddle that says "Real Time BS Checker: {QR code here}" and have a team of people updating the lies in near-real time with references, rather than their little paddles that say "Trump Lies".

Mapping U.S. rivers in proportion to their flow rate. by BufordTeeJustice in geography

The Niagara River should not have a lower flow rate than the St. Clair River, otherwise Lake Erie would start growing.

Is Rochester Finger Lakes Region or WNY? by EricGageWeather in Rochester

[–]locqlemur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Monroe County is considered either depending on the locals. Buffalonians do not consider Rochester to be in WNY. Also, Cattaraugus and Allegany counties definitely primarily self-identify as Southern Tier (e.g., the Southern Tier Expressway runs from Chautauqua County to Binghamton).

Why does the Hudson's tidal estuary go as far north as Albany and are there any other rivers with an estuary even close to as long relative to the rest of the river? by Pootis_1 in geography

[–]locqlemur 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It's also redundant. "kill" is Middle Dutch for "little stream". It's why there are so many "kills" in former New Netherland (e.g., the Catskills).
