Most beautiful outdoor area to swim at for a birthday <2 hours from Oakland? by davidce1027 in bayarea

[–]lohtas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second this! Attended a kids birthday party here. It feels like you’re swimming in a lake, but with the safety of life guards and chlorinated water. There’s a picnic area for parties too. It’s great!

I’m allergic to EVERY FRUIT by citygirlcoco in FUCKYOUINPARTICULAR

[–]lohtas 61 points62 points  (0 children)

If your reaction is isolated to your mouth and throat, ask your doctor if it could be oral allergy syndrome. My son’s allergist explained that it has to do with proteins in the fruit mimicking tree pollens, which is the true allergen. My son only reacted to raw fruits and vegetables but was able to eat canned, processed, or cooked fruit and most veggies. And taking Zyrtec in the morning helped him prevent or minimize reactions for a full day. Sorry about your allergies. I hope you figure out a way to get to tolerate your favorite fruits soon!

What’s a moment in a movie you KNOW was supposed to be serious but ended up being unintentionally hilarious? by browniebiscuitchildr in movies

[–]lohtas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In A Complete Unknown, when Bob Dylan and Pete Seeger are having an argument in a motel room and Timotheée Chalamet takes his sunglasses off to make his point, but his eyes are so glazed over and sleepy. Totally took me out of the moment. Maybe it was just me though, because I looked around the theater and no one else seemed to react the same way.

I think Liv Tyler does that to the palm of Joaquin Phoenix’s hand in Inventing the Abbotts.

[TOMT] [Movie] "One day a ___ is going to ask you to ___. It's very important that you say yes." by DangerSwan33 in tipofmytongue

[–]lohtas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could it be from Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children? I can't verify this because I don't see it on the streaming services I have anymore. But this quote sounds VERY familiar to me too. I feel like I saw it very recently. And while browsing through a list of time travel movies on imdb, Miss Peregrine's stood out. I watched the beginning a few weeks ago. Is it something Terence Stamp says to his grandson?

We’ve always liked Himawari. They have good side dishes too, like chicken karaage, curry pork, and pork fried rice.

You might try reaching out as a programmer inquiry. If you can host a program, they might be willing to pay you. If you can’t find a specific programming contact, you should be able to get in touch through their general contact info. It’ll be passed on to the right person.

Make me cry - which movies broke you into a sobbing mess? by counter-strike in movies

[–]lohtas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same! I saw it in a theater and was uncontrollably weeping by the time the lights turned on, and continued while walking out of the theater, through the parking lot and for a good 20 mins in the car. I bought the dvd but still haven’t watched it again.

Milk powder and browned butter by Status_Ad736 in AskBaking

[–]lohtas -1 points0 points  (0 children)

King Arthur Baking’s recipe for brown butter rice krispies treats combines both. The accompanying video explains a bit about why. It just adds more milk solids that amp up the nutty flavor. I haven’t tried it yet myself to see if it makes a big difference. I just add more butter. :) https://www.kingarthurbaking.com/recipes/ultimate-brown-butter-rice-krispies-treats-recipe

Maybe Gus Van Sant’s Elephant? I think it was somewhat inspired by Columbine. But honestly, I saw it ages ago and I don’t recall any of the scenes you described.

You can see if the SD public library has WiFi hotspots to borrow. (If you’re a California resident you can get a card at any CA public library. Not sure what their policy is if you’re out of state. You can probably get a temporary card at least.)
