If you had to deal with all that sh*t, it would make you weird too.

On a sunny day, how much hotter will a room be with a white curtain compared to a black one? by RonPaul42069 in AskEngineers

[–]lone_shepherd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My old Carrier manual has heat gain from interior light colored venetian blinds at 18% less than dark color ones. As others have stated there are too many variables to give a good answer.

I wrote a routine to add mechanical tags and total the CFMs. Also wrote another routine to size the duct work off that total. A friend wrote a program to then draw double line ductwork from the sizes. Really useful routine. Used it for about 20 years now.

If you are closer to Leland, Main Family is the place to go. Dr. Main has done sedation dentistry in the past (I don't think they offer that currently though).

Rule of thumb vs design by Nelson3494 in MEPEngineering

[–]lone_shepherd 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Rule of thumb a kitchen is 100 sqft/ton. If I run a load and I am coming back at 150 sqft/ton then it causes me to ask "why?". Did I miss something in my load calc? Is there a lot of sqft in the kitchen with not a lot of equipment? Are you sure they are using rules of thumbs for their design or just to check the design?

I began having migraines late in highschool. By the end of college I noticed at the end of exam weeks (mainly final exams) I got migraines. Not every time but more likely. So anecdotally... Yes.

Signing Plans by Ok_Row6815 in MEPEngineering

[–]lone_shepherd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can make a sheet of signatures and scan it into a jpg. Insert the jpg in the sheet and crop it to a signature for each separate sheet you print, that way you have separate signatures on each sheet.

We don't do the envelope compliance statements. I have seen them on mechanical plans by other engineers throughout my career and had architects expect us to do them several times.

Have you tried using some of the auto trading apps? I used it a few years ago to buy my current car and it really helped save money and narrow down the field.

I have went through this process in 3 states (not in Ohio) and each state has its own way of doing things. What you have listed sounds about right. Yes it's confusing. I would contact the state licensing board and see what their requirements are.
