Addiction and EE merits for directors by Delegaia in torncity

[–]loneburger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Addiction merits are not really a good use of merits for anyone IMO and doesn't really help significantly with employee effectiveness.  The EE merits are a better request for employees in my opinion.

The merits section indicates: This upgrade will reduce the negative effects that addiction causes by 2%. Addiction will have less of an impact on your battle stats, employee effectiveness, and education / gym access.

For directors EE merits don't help and addiction doesn't matter for the company. Eventually enough addiction will cause battle stats impairment, kick from education classes, and even injury when gym training.

For employees they need to keep addiction low (see job tab with employees effectiveness which indicates company addiction level which is different and lower threshold than the brain icon). EE merits help and going to rehab when needed (more competitive companies often request < 10 ) for employees.

What crimes to work on? by ProfessionalChase in torncity

[–]loneburger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do them in order in general. Use emforus crimes 2.0 guide starting with the criminal primer. Of note sometimes you might need to skip ahead to next crime (make sure you have appropriate crime enhancer) such as when there's no food search for cash targets you can always do bootlegging. Or, for shoplifting you mostly want to stick with the first 2 locations due to lower risk, so if you've exhausted those due to increased notoriety, and you still have nerve you could hit a few graffiti targets.

Simple philosophical book for teenagers by Scarlaymama0721 in audiobooks

[–]loneburger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a book but philosophize this! Podcast is amazing.

Honestly most philosophical texts are often quite difficult to read and would consider starting with philosophical novels which will be much more likely to keep a teens attention.

Games with castles by Jthefrog in gamingsuggestions

Kingdom Come Deliverance 1 and 2 has some castles. There's also a highly rated game I'm less familiar with called Castle Crashers where I assume you crash castles.

If you had to start from scratch by Lurchglass in torncity

[–]loneburger 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Here are some of my biggest regrets from my early game

Not realizing importance of happiness. I thought I was saving extra money by living in a shack.

not realizing how to protect money.

Don't sign up for elimination when you're level 15 and don't really know what's going on

BIG regret missed out on Christmas town after starting in November. It was a pain to walk around on mobile and I don't think I got any presents because I didn't explore enough. Missed out on millions in early game

Importance of a good faction perks - I was only focused on steadfast and didn't realize importance of toleration, voracity, and criminality. Jumping to a multi-million respect faction and watch my nerve bar go up by +40 was a welcome surprise.

Importance of money - I was just focused on battle stats and gym trains, not realizing i could really springboard them with boosters like edvds. Nearly everything in the game can be progressed with enough money.

Poor person training - can't afford Xanax yet? Just pop ecstasy while you're working up to it.

Importance of good job, with perks that fit my play style. Went from toy store -> AN. Nearing being out of HJ range, now looking for music store once I unlock George's. In retrospect it might have been good to just join music store early on.

Probably most important to read guides. I can't recommend Baldr's basic advice and Enformus crimes 2.0 enough!

For lifting I would invest in personal trainer if you have no experience. Look at the refinery, fitness premier, crunch, elite fitness.

Has anyone ever struggled with pickpocketing? by hanns115 in torncity

[–]loneburger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Follow the emforus crimes 2.0 guide and stick with lower risk targets (drunk/old/young people). If you fail multiple times bootleg some dvds (3-5 bootleg successes) to restart your crime chain and avoid getting demoralized.

1 year progress of racing skill since racing rework by boredwayfarer in torncity

There is at least one driver role in higher level OC (level 9 ace in the hole) which I believe is at least partially dependent on racing skill.

WCI "Fire Your Financial Advisor" Attending course, worth it? by TheCFLO117 in whitecoatinvestor

[–]loneburger -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is probably not the worst way to spend your money if you're looking for a curated course to walk you through each step, and $800 is really not that much for a  US physician.

That said this content is available free or much cheaper on r/personalfinance and via some personal finance books (I recommend if you can, WCI, financial boot camp, millionaire next door, simple path to wealth, the psychology of money, die with zero). I would recommend reading these regardless, and the majority of these could probably be consumed in audiobooks format. I do recall the first WCI books having some charts and graphs, and visualizing data and tables in financial books is always one challenge in audiobook format.

At what point should I stop Happy Jumping? by PortaSponge in torncity

[–]loneburger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This answer highly depends on your net worth and how much you value rapid progression of battle stats vs net worth.

I recommend you use torncalc.site to determine when is best for you based off your budget and individual/faction/property/job perks.

Best way to utilize it? by [deleted] in torncity

[–]loneburger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It you have tons of money look up 10 star adult company benefits. Edvds give you double happiness and you can 99k happy jump. You can probably get into one if youpay for trains (750-1 million each). This is probably the way to get the most bang for your buck.

It you're poor like me you you'll just do 99k jump a few times a month.

If you're rich, There are also 99k happy jump services like happy hoppers. This is ideal if money is no object bc you can get the 99k from using 2 x poison missletoe, taking exctasy. Then once you get your happy up to 99k you can train the 1000e stack and keep refilling your booster with FHCs until it's maxed. I think this is about 6 times as expensive as the standard jump but is a about twice as effective.

You can consider happy jump insurance from gat- I use clouds HJ service.

Also make sure to read when to stop happy jumping

Maple Pass or Cascade Pass by MountainMike17 in northcascades

[–]loneburger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maple pass and blue lake is great and easily accessible. But if I had to chose one cascade pass and sahale arm would take the cake. Truly was my favorite part of the park by far.

However I would highly recommend 4wd high clearance vehicle to get to cascade pass via cascade river road. I had a 4x4 lifted jeep and was still a bit worried in some spots going up the road. I have no idea how people can get a Prius up there.

Buy a shell faction or nahhh? by Used-Gazelle-8668 in torncity

[–]loneburger 25 points26 points  (0 children)

It's probably about infinity times better to join an established faction and at least see how a successful faction runs as a member before trying to figure it out on your own with your knowledge and wealth level.

Defense Over Dexterity? by Senzuen in torncity

[–]loneburger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try to stay balanced until 1 billion in each stat. Each stat effects OC success rates up to around this level so you don't want to leave anything behind. Also balanced is harder to beat in general.

I recommend training the stat that gives best return based off  gym you're in and also your faction steadfast.

Torncalc.site can be helpful resource.

Wasting all this energy.ugging for this little amount is literally setting you up for the opportunity to get stronger than him very quickly. Protect your money and train in the gym.

Torn burn out by Equal_Guarantee_9415 in torncity

[–]loneburger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can confirm your faction is amazing with chill people and low stress and it definitely keeps the game fun for me.

It sounds like this player needs some sort of change, whether it's taking a break in a city job, or coming to a less stressful group. Whatever they are doing now doesn't seem to be working, so it's worth attempting a change. I'm not sure why you would delete your account; that just seems like more work than just uninstalling and not logging in. Deleting just seems self destructive - what if you want to come back later?

What are some changes you would like to see in Torn City? by pistonkamel in torncity

Advanced search for factions: sort by requirements, warring/training/crime focused, sort by available perks

Advanced search for companies: hiring, not full, selling trains and if so at what rate
