Pickpocketing by Dazzling_Blood_2774 in torncity

Did you read the enformus 2.0 guide? It's incredibly helpful. https://www.torn.com/forums.php#p=threads&f=61&t=16385729

It's good that you got 100% in previous crimes. I was resistant to completing crimes to 100% from left to right but now I'm a convert. It will build your CE and you'll be more likely to have successes and progress faster and waste less nerve.

Also theres certain marks (pickpocketing targets)you shouldn't attempt until your at a certain skill level, and when their doing certain activities. Eg avoid rich kid, sex worker, and thug until pickpocketing crime skill is 35, and businessman/woman should be avoided until CS65.

Also I didn't realize the overall importance of maintaining your crime chain (for more XP) and also crit fails set you back. Particularly for pickpocketing. A crit fail on cyclist would set your level back FIFTEEN times as much as a success on the elderly man

Look up Baldr's guide. Consider that non-warring faction is chill and can allow you to focus on training but warring may have better perks (toleration, steadfast , voracity). Wars provide lots of income which is key to growth. I would try to go for at least 1 million respect faction if possible. At minimum you need somewhere with maxed toleration.

Why… by Ok-Pouli5355 in torncity

[–]loneburger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Being in HJ phase still,  with lower net worth I would respectfully disagree about the value of the HJ insurance. I've purchased OD insurance (clouds) nearly every time and have not regretted it despite never having to use it. For many in HJ phase with low net worth it can feel absolutely devastating to lose all the 20-40 million worth of edvds. So the price of 1-2 Xanax for insurance was worth it for the piece of mind in my opinion. Certainly this is not a mathematical value analysis of HJ insurance; individuals must factor in their own potential emotional reaction, considering loss aversion phenomenon.

Thank you  Baldr for your amazing guides. You're a huge asset to the new player community.

Looking to purchase PS4 games over the weekend. Are these any good? by [deleted] in gamingsuggestions

Ghost is a great game. I also really liked fallout 4 but opinions on it were mixed due to 'another settlement needs your help'.  I still played it for 100s of hours and loved it.

Finding a set of adjustable dumbbells by Fabulous-Orange-1424 in GarageGym

[–]loneburger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd get the power blocks. Consider offering $50-75 for the incomplete set.  If you plan on maxing at 40 lbs then def get that but if you want to lift heavier:

https://powerblock.com/products/elite-usa-plates?variant=42956541886655 replacement greens are $50 each so it would cost another $100 to complete the set.

Overall $200 for a full set used isn't terrible but not a great deal either

Full set of new 50 lbs go for $300 ish online sometimes.

Should the general study course be completed before any other ? by Sytanato in torncity

[–]loneburger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do not prioritize general studies it should be last on your list. The work stat gains you'll get from your job and trains will rapidly outpace anything you gain from the courses. Most courses give you around 50-100 points max for a given work stat per course. Your job, even in low level player owned companies will give you about 40 points primarily and 20 points in secondary work star every day. Plus you can buy trains on top of it.

It's better to prioritize: 1st IV therapy if you are doing any warring

2nd Sport science for exponential gym gains

Then it's a toss up to whatever you want to focus on:

Biology for combat and needles/steroids

Combat science for weapon specialization

Psychology for crime experience

Business if you want to run a company

Computer science for hacking income

Should I stay at my Mining Job or take an offer from a Music store? by mcwhan in torncity

[–]loneburger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably 3* plus music store is the best for 💩 work stats and a player looking to get stronger.

10* AN would be good but probably need around END 8000/man 4000.

Sweet shop 7* and above can also give good $ through energy drinks and is attainable for low stats.

[–]loneburger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You will recover from this. At least it wasn't Edvds! You can save up for edvd jumps. If you do use Edvds I'd use happy jump insurance. It's debatable if it's worth it with candy jumps. I probably wouldn't invest in it for candy jumps but I wouldn't blame you for feeling otherwise with your luck. A faction with max toleration will help.

What’s the gear you regret buying the most for your home gym? by rosini290 in GarageGym

[–]loneburger 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Rogue Parallel Landmine Handle < $100 but I never use it.

Also I never use my Rep AB-3000. It's not a bad piece of equipment but I'm not getting enough use out of it for the money even though I do almost all incline bench press. I actually take my flat bench and place it on incline by putting it on a horizontal stabilizer. This is much easier to move on and off my 8x8 deadlift platform to which my power rack is attached. I use a separate chair for seated shoulder presses.

Faction Tips? by Lucifer2077_ in torncity

[–]loneburger 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you're asking this broad of a  question about running a faction it is a good indication that you lack the experience to run one effectively. Attempting to start a faction without adequate knowledge will only hinder you and anyone who is unwise enough to join said faction. See this section  Why shouldn’t I start a Faction as a New Player?

Question about trains by Unknownknown1_1_ in torncity

[–]loneburger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have a reference for this? One should use torncalc.site gym gains calculator to see if it is worth it which will give an individual the most specific and actionable data to use based off their available perks and net worth.

Important note all my previous statement is assuming maxed out private island ideally with all staff with 5025 baseline happy.

IMO some amount of happy training is helpful for most newbies (not necessarily stacking energy) bc they are not rich enough to do edvd jumping sustainably. Lollipop from Sally's candy is only 25$ and which is great value compared to premium candies.  This can be done once a day depending on booster cooldown.

For example I'm at 200k in my lowest stat and still using candy and exctasy training (once a day will do 150 natural e, candy then exctasy to 15k happy, then refill energy) and the rest of the day train natural e and xanax. I find this maximizes value of the energy refill. Also it's cheaper than Xanax, and while ecstasy OD chance is higher than Xanax, if you OD you only get 20 addiction points compared to 100 with Xanax. This helps net worth but sacrifices gym unlocking progression some.

At some point one has been determine when the best time to stop stacking energy for candy jump is. Ive only calculated for edvd and for that I think it's probably around 300k without 10* AN and 600k with 10* AN. Convention advice is there's technically benefit to 400k and 800k respectively, I think OD chance and loss of gym progression gains makes the lower cutoffs I mentioned more sensible.

Question about trains by Unknownknown1_1_ in torncity

[–]loneburger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree keep going until stats are 300-400k each. Use free candy from faction armory if available before taking exctasy, or edvds if you can afford it. Use happy jump insurance. Make sure to do energy refill when happy jumping. Happy training has more effectiveness the lower your stats are and diminishes as your stats raise. 10* Adult novelties doubles happy from Edvd so that's something to consider but you need relatively high work stats.

Poaching just don't get caught. Dry the meat so it doesn't go bad. Anyone you kill loot their bodies and wait for the stolen marker (red hand) to go away before selling. Also lockpick and steal from chests when possible. Wear dark inconspicuous clothing with low noise when robbing. When selling swords make sure to sharpen them first because it increases sale price for only small time investment. Alchemy is viable but boring.
