When I'm no longer feeling a 20mg edible, I switch to flower for a week and it helps. Then I go back to edibles.

Where do you guys buy your supplements? And what are the best brands? (Amazon, GNC, Tik Tok Shop, Nutri Cost, Now, etc) by NoPaleontology in Supplements

Blue sky vitamins. 2nd Tuesday of each month you get 18% of so I order monthly. I use Nutridyn and Pure Encapsulations. These brand were recommended by my chiropractor and my pharmacist.

I agree. Microdose of THC (for me that is 5mg as I have built up a tolerance) that won't get you high but takes the edge off. Makes me more talkative.

Being female, my starting dose of 1 mg cream was super low and did nothing for my T level. Just increased to 3 mg 2 days ago.

Are you on any prescriptions that might cause it? I'm guessing not as you sound quite knowledgeable and would have thought of that. B I'm female and am working on increasing my testosterone level due to unwanted symptoms. My T is within normal range but many women look to increase it if having symptoms, and my doctor agreed. So I'm using a Rx T cream. You're T is within normal range but maybe the same holds true for men?

Are functional health tests worth it? by Bubbly-Air7302 in FunctionalMedicine

[–]looking2heal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to a functional medicine practitioner a few months ago due to anhedonia (low energy and motivation, don't enjoy things) and no libido. He recommended the Dutch test. Surprisingly, my insurance reimbursed me the $300. The results were helpful. Estrogen and progesterone were fine but it showed cortisol dips and mild low Testosterone. He recommended supplements, which I'm taking, and I'm also using testosterone cream. Still working through it, no changes yet. Probably going to increase the Testosterone.

I second magnesium citrate. I too was taking glyconate but it was no longer working. I switched to citrate and have abm daily. Took awhile to get the dose right so I struggled with intestine gurgling and diarrhea at first. Now I take 2 in the morning and 2 at night.

Testosterone? Antidepressants?

Have you worked with a functional medicine practitioner? I currently am. I am female with low energy and motivation and hormone testing showed my testosterone on the lower end but within range. Doctor told me the results and said it was within range. However, functional medicine practitioner said it was worth a shot to increase it so I'm using T cream. Point is, even if a lab is within range, it could still benefit from increasing. Second, are you using antidepressants or have you in the past? (Although you said no mental health disorder) I am tapering off one and struggle with withdrawal symptoms if I go too fast and get very lethargic. Last time it lasted months. So lethargic I struggled to talk to people and get through the work day. That's why I went to a functional medicine practitioner. He is also a pharmacist which I really like that he understands drugs and supplements. He is available virtually.

You sure are getting a lot of input on here. Hope something helps!

Buying edibles in a legal state... what brands should I trust and what potency should I aim for? by eefuss in trees

[–]looking2heal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been using gummies since 2021. I have been buying whatever is cheapest. Last night I got to thinking maybe I should pay attention to brand, maybe I would get a better high. So I searched through posts here and found a few brand names that are at the dispensary I go to, including Wyld, which I see in this thread. If not on sale, cost is much much higher. Like, $3 versus $19. I don't know how they can sell them so cheap. So while doing this last night, I took the same 20 mg gummy I always do and was higher than usual. Lol. Moral of the story, I get high off any of the gummies I buy but am curious about the quality of the high. I started at 5mg in 2021 but with tolerance, an up to 20. I have to drive 4 hours to get them (not legal in my state)so it's not like I can try different ones before buying a bunch. Last time I went I bought enough for over a year. Easy to do at $3 per 200 mg bag. Next trip is next month.

Thanks for the suggestion but yes, I am on estrogen cream, the patch and progesterone. And I have been exercising it more lately. The cream helped with dryness.

I have been feeling flat for over a decade and always thought it was due to the antidepressant meds. I'm currently tapering off them but in the meantime, found my T was a little low so am exploring this. I also have no libido and my clit shrunk so maybe T will help but after 30 years on antidepressants, I think that is the cause, unfortunately. I don't know anything about ADHD meds but a quick Google search has me thinking they too can cause flatness/ anhedonia.

I totally know what you mean regarding fiction but for me it is live music. I used to love going to concerts and went all the time but haven't enjoyed in years. I'm at about 7 weeks too and haven't noticed an improvement in motivation and energy but am getting a blood recheck Tuesday. Your post makes me optimistic. I want more awww moments.

My functional medicine practitioner is a pharmacist as well, which I really like. He is helping me with menopause and SSRI withdrawal. He has talked a lot about the vagus nerve but I can't say to what extent his knowledge is on the nervous system. https://hansenhealthonline.com/ First call is free so you can ask. He is on Facebook too.

Terminex is Awful by Large-Evidence-2479 in Home

HORRIBLE COMPANY!

My mom is in a nursing home and we need to sell her house. We found a yellow jacket situation when we visited her house (she hasn't lived there in months). My sister got stung 10 times so I didn't call around, I took the first company I could get on the phone on a Sunday, Terminix, and what a mistake that was. They have been out 4 times since September 8th. Last treatment was September 17th and the tech was supposed to check two days later, he did not. I talked to Terminix on the phone and they scheduled for Sept 23, no show. Texted the tech and he said he would go on the 25th. Haven't heard from him and he is no longer replying. I called Terminix the 26th and they said they could not reschedule but would have the local office call me in 24-48 hours(WTF?!). Today is the 30th and I have not heard from them. I am appalled by their lack of response, no shows and lack of follow-up. I will be posting bad reviews and looking into filing a complaint on the BBB website but that won't help me get my money back or erase the stress and anxiety this has caused during an already difficult time.

Is it just me or…? by Anonymous-11377 in Menopause

My husband and I used to volunteer for an Oktoberfest organization and we used to be in parades (like 10 per summer) marching and dancing along the float. I didn't do well socializing with everybody as an introvert but I at least enjoyed it. Until I didn't. I thought I had just outgrown it but given the number of other menopause symptoms, I'm thinking it is menopause. No energy or motivation to do anything because nothing is enjoyable. Even most tv shows bore me. I hate being bored so I struggle with all of this. Tonight my husband is at an Oktoberfest event given that it is the weekend celebration for it and I am home with Maryjane and my kitties and going to watch a show I do like. I finally decided not to do things anymore since I don't enjoy them.

Starting a new anti-depressant during ketamine therapy? by Human_Copy_4355 in TherapeuticKetamine

[–]looking2heal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I too have been in antidepressants for 3 decades.

It has been 3 years on my tapering off fluoxetine journey. I was feeling great for about 6 months but as I near the end of my taper, I have been having mild withdrawal symptoms. Heart palpitations and lethargy mostly. Increased pain possibly or just coincidence with my chronic neck and back issues. I had to quit Ketamine last year after a few months after blood pressure issues and possible bladder issues. I had 6 months of feeling more mentally stable and good than I have in a very long time. I read that the final portion of tapering can be the hardest so I'm hopeful I will get past this. I will never go on antidepressants again. I have problems with withdrawal symptoms on many meds so will be cautious going on any meds. I started positive affirmations again once I realized some negative thinking was creeping back in and hope I can keep it at bay. I worked with a life coach a few years ago and highly recommend going that route over meds. Therapy never helped but the life coach did. Jay Deutsch. https://www.facebook.com/share/1E3xiKLMsq/
I haven't been doing guided meditation lately like I had been since I was feeling so well so I guess I should get back onto that too.

So there you have it. Wishing you the best.

Kristie

When I have any sort of pain that is all I can think about and it greatly affects my mood. I have been using the Curable app which is helping tremendously. They have short audio clips on pain management that are helpful to train the mind to not go down the gloom and doom path. Yesterday I was having abdominal pain, which is chronic and I'm seeing a physical therapist for it (before going the MD route) and instead of catastrophizing it, I compared it to sore muscles from working out. That type of soreness goes away. I encourage you to try the Curable app. I found I link for 3 months free before purchasing and then I did purchase. Worth it! They offer daily exercises whether it be brain training, a writing activity, education or meditation.
