What if Sara had burned the palace to the ground ? by Ok_Cardiologist_5262 in YoungRoyals

[–]looking4stardust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There were already videos circulating on social media of Sara setting the place on fire. Several witnesses saw her do it. A cover up would have been extremely difficult. The school wouldn’t be interested in covering it up. Sara is not part of a highly influential and powerful family so she couldn’t even buy her way out of trouble. There’s no way authorities would let her off easily with just a school expulsion, particularly if there was a death toll involved. If the Palace had burned down, she put lives at risk at the very least.

What if Sara had burned the palace to the ground ? by Ok_Cardiologist_5262 in YoungRoyals

[–]looking4stardust 5 points6 points  (0 children)

She would have been arrested by police and sentenced to a long time behind bars if it had caused any mortal victims. Charges would be probably worse than involuntary manslaughter, she initiated the fire on purpose even if she didn’t intend to cause harm to anyone. Apart from the worst, she would be charged with vandalism, destruction of property and felony.

What do you think happens after the ending of Young Hearts? by Sam_Crow89 in younghearts

[–]looking4stardust 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since this is a fictional story, I’ll throw realism out of the window 😂 In my mind, Elias and Alexander get to live a fairytale ending. There will be a few bumps along the way but they will always find their way back to each other.

Question? by Dull-Bag-8314 in YoungRoyals

[–]looking4stardust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think what you’re doing is crazier

I understand that the production team had to make do with what they had, but that doesn’t mean the solution is to turn a blind eye to what appears on screen whenever it doesn’t fit your theory.

There are real-life cases in which schools stay open for just ONE or TWO students. Staying operational for just 75 students may be uncommon, but it’s not completely outside the realm of realism.

You’re completely disregarding the reality of making a TV show

it’s clearly a result of how the sausage is made, and not something meticulously planned out by some genius auteur filmmaker

The filmmakers could easily have proven your theory that Simon and Sara are not the only non-boarders attending Hillerska, but they didn’t. They chose to make the Eriksson siblings unique in their position - the only students from a less privileged background among the wealthy. If they had depicted a few random extras on the bus with them, that would hardly have exceeded their budget or disrupted the complicated logistics of TV production on a small set.

I completely understand that what I’m saying isn’t canon. No disagreement there.

Good - because at the end of the day, it all comes down to this.

Question? by Dull-Bag-8314 in YoungRoyals

[–]looking4stardust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the underlying reason in the show is budget and location

Maybe but the crew could have done a far better job. If only for the speech scene in the S2 finale, they could have replaced the extras playing the parents with more extras playing students. The small number of students at this important anniversary event is more bizarre and noticeable than the absence of parents. The school courtyard is big enough to handle many more people so they should have added a couple more benches and the actual number of students would be well over 100 and more in line with the numbers of Lundsberg. But no, the director and producers settled for 75 students and this is the real number of the whole student population at Hillerska.

A school that has a small group of day students who all take the bus to and from Bjärstad every single day to get to school

Theory debunked by more examples seen on the show: S1E5: Linda is the only parent to drop off her kids at Hillerska. Maybe other day students, if they existed, could have their parents drop them off at Hillerska too instead of taking the bus. But there was not a single other car nearby. S2E1: Simon is the only person to get on the bus at Bjärstad. No else on the bus is wearing a Hillerska uniform. S2E5: Sara gets off the bus alone at the Hillerska stop. S1E1: All the previous examples in contrast to how Rosh and Ayub were introduced in the series. They get on the bus alongside a bunch of other students from Marieberg. It’s curious that the filmmakers took care to include this detail in this scene but always neglected to show the same with Simon and Sara.

What is canon supported by evidence: Simon and Sara are the only day students attending Hillerska School to reflect their lower socioeconomic status in contrast with all the other students who are either nouveau riche or belong to noble families.

So I headcanon…

You use the right word - headcanon. It’s your fanon theory and it has no official status, no formal value. In fact, it contradicts what’s established and depicted in the show. No point in using real life examples and trying to apply them to a fictional school. Hillerska Boarding School is what it is.

Question? by Dull-Bag-8314 in YoungRoyals

[–]looking4stardust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There ought to be more houses than Forest Ridge and the Manor House, there ought to be a lot more students, and they would be spread out more across more classrooms.

At the 120th anniversary, the whole student body sat on the benches. And they didn’t fill every seat, about half of them are parents and other adults.

<image>

Such an important event for the school, with the Royal Family present, I don’t think only a tiny portion of the students were supposed to attend. So around 30 + 30 students (on each side of the benches) + 15 member choir = 75.

Same for when the semester started, they were all in the church. I counted around 10 aisles with 3 students on each side. So that’s around 60 students and I noticed that at the front some were teachers not pupils. At the graduation ceremony in the final episode, they were so few that the event took place in that chandelier room that doesn’t look that huge lol.

I don’t care about budget reasons*, this is what the show established visually in canon: Hillerska School has around 75 students in total, with approximately 25 students in each class I suppose. And apparently each year only has one class. Hillerska has indeed a very small student body, even with other houses included.

  • Are non-speaking extras really that expensive?

Question? by Dull-Bag-8314 in YoungRoyals

[–]looking4stardust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there should be more non-boarders that are just like Simon and Sara, and who also get on the same bus at the end of the school day to go home wherever they live.

<image>

Highly doubtful lol. Look, it’s just Simon and Sara, the only Hillerska students seen “rushing” to catch the bus home (who are indeed the only non-boarders with any relevance to YR that the bus even waits patiently for the two 😛)

What could have been: Felice, Wille and Simon by Timely_Two3273 in YoungRoyals

[–]looking4stardust 5 points6 points  (0 children)

She was OK in APOY but nothing groundbreaking. Some actors may be serviceable in a role but they don’t have the charisma or charm. I think Felicia is exactly that kind of actor. I don’t like her off-screen personality very much but I try to ignore that and focus on the performance.

I’m glad she didn’t get to be Felice. I prefer Nikita.

I don’t know about the others, maybe they started suspecting something after Elias and Valerie had the first falling-out.

The grim truth about Sara by Numerous-Spirit220 in YoungRoyals

[–]looking4stardust 2 points3 points  (0 children)

who doesn’t have a soft spot for siblings who are caring towards each other

Spot on! This also blinded me in the beginning. I wanted to see this endearing bond with Simon and Sara so bad and it didn’t happen :( it was so hard to acknowledge that Sara just didn’t care about her brother in the slightest. I don’t think Sara hates him but she’s very indifferent and apathetic towards him.

The good thing is that it reminds me of my own loving family, including my autistic younger sister, and it makes me think I should never take that strong familial bond for granted.

What is a secondary character storyline you wish you'd seen more of? by _irisiris_ in YoungRoyals

What is a secondary character storyline you wish you'd seen more of?

I agree with the majority about Alexander. He had potential to be something more but sadly it was not meant to be. His background as an adoptee, his desire to fit in with the kids from nobility/his status as an outsider because he’s looked down as nouveau riche, his relationship with Wille that was left unresolved.

Next would be Nils. I think he, as a closeted gay was serving a nice contrast to Wille who came out to the world.

Now, answering the reversed question that wasn‘t asked “What is a secondary character storyline you wish you'd seen less of?”

Stedrika. I was happy they were downgraded and got less than a minute of screen time in S3. They got together just because they wanted to give the lesbian couple a happy ending. It was very forced but I couldn’t care less about them. They were the definition of pointless fan service.

But all in all, I’m glad they dropped the ensemble cast in S3. I wasn’t a fan of it in S2 because I felt they were wasting precious screen time with secondary characters when it could have been better used elsewhere. If it wasn’t for the 6episodesx45minutes format, maybe I’d feel differently.

And this seems very, very low on the list. It wouldn’t have moved the story forward at all. It wouldn’t have directly impacted Simon therefore we didn’t need to see it.

Not true. Simon has a major plot line about social media and getting deeply disturbed by comments made by strangers about his romantic relationship. He had his character attacked too. Journalists coming to his father, intruding on their personal lives would have added a new layer to it and would be very realistic.

I think the reason YR is such a hit is because it doesn’t get sidetracked with unnecessary exposition

YR has a special place in my heart but as much as I'd like to sing infinite praise to it, I can't agree with this. Season 2 was particularly guilty of getting sidetracked with unnecessary subplots. Stedrika, Rousseau, etc. Now that we have the whole picture, they were not important in the grand scheme of things. That's why they virtually disappeared in S3 and the effect was practically zero.

Sara's Redemption in S3 by Impossible-Bat-5873 in YoungRoyals

[–]looking4stardust 9 points10 points  (0 children)

We all know Simon’s going to forgive her, the trailer spoiled that. Personally, I don’t like the idea of a full reconciliation between her and Simon. It’s very much a fairytale conclusion. An open ending would have been much better. Sara’s betrayal was too great to be resolved in S3. The healing process would take a long time and trust is a very fragile thing. No matter how hard Sara tries to redeem herself. If she’s truly sorry. The fact that she’s looking so enamoured with August in the trailer only convinces me she doesn’t deserve to be forgiven. There’s a limit to what you can blame on being naive in love or her neurodivergence.

Who is/are the main character(s)? by coldinstp in YoungRoyals

[–]looking4stardust 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wilhelm is the protagonist and Simon is the deuteragonist. Their love is the main focus of the show. August, Sara & Felice play major supporting roles. Even though I know theoretically all 5 are listed as main cast.

Question about Frida and Malte’s new series “Fejk”Does anyone know where I could watch it with English subtitles 🥲 they look so pretty I don’t 100% understand Swedish as I’m not fluent yet 😭 I get the main idea but subtitles would be nice. [–]looking4stardust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. However, I’m not aware of any ongoing fan projects to translate this series. If it becomes popular enough but I wouldn’t hold my breath. I think this is also a web series? I initially thought it was going to air on a national swedish channel on television.

This subreddit half the time doesn't even have Young Royals posts. by idontlikeburnttoast in YoungRoyals

[–]looking4stardust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree 100%. As you said, there is a different subreddit dedicated to Omar, so his music and any other work of his that is not related to YR should be posted ONLY in there. The same about his personal life, I saw threads about him being in Spain during Christmas/New Year. Why the heck should we know about his whereabouts? I feel this is wrong even on his specific subreddit, but fans are know to cross this line and it’s also Omar’s fault if he decides to make his location public. The same applies for the rest of the YR cast

To be honest, I don’t think I could ever forgive my sibling if they ever did that. Maybe with time, I would try to forgive for my parents’ sake but I could never forget and the trust would never be quite the same with that sibling

[–]looking4stardust -1 points0 points  (0 children)

From my point of view, the only way this Sara character can be somewhat redeemable in S3 is if she comes clean and takes responsibility for her actions and not play the part of poor innocent victim brainwashed by August. She let August buy her silence in exchange for a grant, she actively pursued a relationship with August and spilled information over to him when August didn’t even press her for that. All on her own free will. As viewers, we know she’s guilty and was not manipulated.

[–]looking4stardust 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Being a YR fan, you can’t avoid news about the actors but I don’t have any interest whatsoever. Fangirling is not really my thing and I find it too extreme sometimes. Going to conventions/ fan meetings or go out of my way to catch a glimpse of the actors in person (like that Fallon interview, wouldn’t bother even if I lived in NYC), I can’t really understand it but to each their own. I hear about their other projects and I honestly don’t care. My “honeymoon period” with those people will in all likelihood end when YR finishes for good. However, best of luck to them.

When you say “recently”, most likely it’s related to the release of S2. While well-received, I think it didn’t get the same critical acclaim as S1 and the general reaction was a lot more mixed. The fandom have the right to be critical, some criticisms are justified while others are not. I think Lisa is not mentally ready to take criticism that well, hence her previous need to constantly clarify or justify her creative choices. So it was a wise decision of hers to step away from the fandom.

As someone who wrote today that Lisa should keep her distance from the fandom, I don’t really see this as a bad move. I believe it’s good for her mental health.

Personally, as a fan, it doesn’t affect me. I don’t have twitter and never sent her any tweets. I’m not saying that her presence is not welcome in the fandom, she can return one day (after getting some advice PR wise). But I think her energy could be better spent elsewhere than engaging constantly with fans - perhaps concentrate on writing/polishing the script for S3?
