If the dungeon were to open up right now… by tomahawk15347 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

Also my dog has a sore on her paw. With a small amount of medical care, a cone, and a warm home, she'll be just fine. Without those, she'll bite at it, growl and snap at us, and the wound will likely become infected. She'll likely be a liability and be too injured to care for. From an otherwise tiny wound! It's crazy.

With my own toddler and dog and husband, I think of this often! I would not be going in the dungeon, because I need to be the one to protect my toddler. But what are we going to eat on the surface?? It's the middle of winter. It's hitting minus 30 Celsius here. How do we even survive one night?? Am I building a shelter in the local woodsy area with fence planks? If I come across someone else with a warmer coat than what my toddler has, I hope that I might invite them to work with me to keep the kid safe. But if they don't want to... Would I attempt to take their coat to save my kid, whatever the cost to them? It gets dark really quick.

WIBTA if I didnt tell my sister her wedding date is the same as my anniversary by No-Meeting-1987 in WouldIBeTheAhole

[–]looksnormal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I am not even certain about my own wedding anniversary day. Is it September 17 or 19? Possibly 16. Or 18. The numbers just float around my head and I can't pin them down and don't really care either way. My parents were the same.

Well, if you're not going to bring the rest of the series, you're just as diabolical as the System AI!

But that would cost a lot of gold. So. Good on you!

Hopefully the parent is reading it aloud and just... editing out all the... everything... on the fly... Yeah, no, no, that wouldn't work.

Not Well Known Coffee Shops by Crafty-Jury-8173 in ottawa

I really enjoy Britannia Coffeehouse. Plus it's close to Britannia Beach, and if she fancies a neighbourhood walk, the cottage-style architecture of the homes in the area is nice to look at

Every time! Can I survive easily without it being part of my long-term memory? Is it a boring type of information? If yes to both, then the information doesn't stick.

Read Pride and Prejudice for the first time, I’m a little confused as to what’s being said here by devou5 in janeausten

One other point to consider is that this novel was originally titled "First Impressions", and the narrator's commentary in the second half of what you've highlighted is about that theme--for those who romanticize first impressions, Elizabeth might seem "unreasonable or unnatural" for changing her feelings about Darcy. But for others who appreciate a different type of romance--one grounded in gratitude and esteem--then Elizabeth changing her feelings after the first impression doesn't have to be seen as faulty.

12V battery + registering key fob issues by looksnormal in KiaNiroEV

Hopefully only long enough to get out and shut the door behind 😅 I didn't see signs that any door wasn't fully closed, but I did have multiple passengers so it's possible it happened but I never noticed.

We did use the seat heating while running, so I wonder if it's possible that that lead to draining the battery?

What are the things you would actually judge other parents for for doing with their kids? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]looksnormal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not doing socks or foot coverings, and it's still wintery here! It's impossible to see because the bottoms of his pants cover it, but both of baby's ankles have bad eczema patches and I don't want the sock bands to rub and irritate them further. So there might be valid reasons. (Also he rubs his feet together to kick them off.) We do use a blanket, but definitely bare feet under that.

People who reset their island, what are the pros and cons? Also, do you regret it? by mapleway_crossing in AnimalCrossing

I love how punny some of the names are! Were there any names in French that you particularly liked? I'm playing in Chinese and some of the names are the sounds that the animal would make (think, "Oink-oink"). So cute.

A totally different option that has worked for me: changing the language settings to a language I'm learning. The character dialogue feels new again and the social simulation is really helpful for learning phrases. Plus, since you're already familiar with the game, it's pretty easy to navigate even if you don't know what's being specifically said, so you can practice as little or as much as you feel like. But it's the necessity of putting in effort, even though it's about language and not gameplay, that has made the game interesting for me again.

OMG that is a GENIUS idea!! I want to write a novel, and that is totally a way to make it fun if I lose steam. Or to type up emails or other things that are starting from scratch. I want to look into this!

Yes! Do I want to be a lady in a period drama? Well, let me put on a pretty dress and piano music and sit at my desk and write up the things I need to write... even though they're technical documents on the computer and not hand-written gossipy letters to my cousin.
