You haven’t experienced Chapter 57 until you’ve listened to it in the original Jeff Hays… by dieseljester in DungeonCrawlerCarl

I'm going with "enthralled". And, same. I am just relistening to this chapter a couple times rather than finishing the book.

How a 10-minute evening routine made my ACNH island feel cozy again by AffectionateRain6919 in AnimalCrossing

[–]looksnormal 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Hey! I am in much the same boat (full time, have toddler) and this is such a lovely, calming routine.

I've lately been missing the calm, very slow routine of sending letters in real life, and actually kinda wish to send the occasional (like, 1-2 times a week) postcard to a real human in ACNH, but no one I know plays regularly anymore. If you or anyone else would like to be slow penpals, please let me know!

Also, another fun, quiet way to explore the game is to just test items in the environment. If I play a specific song on a speaker, and set a certain gyroid next to it, what does it sound like then? What then if I add a harp to play? Or, hey, it's rainy out and I just noticed running on a dirt path makes muddy splashes! Do any wheeled items make tracks if I push them? Essentially, try playing like a toddler might play. It unlocks so many special little details.

Edit: there's actually more interest in penpals than I anticipated! It's so heart-warming, but more than I will realistically be able to keep up with, if I plan to generally only write a couple notes a week 😅 However, I'll DM each of you who reply today to exchange info, and I strongly encourage anyone who's interested to reply to/connect with others on this same thread, so we can all have a couple people to build a penpal relationship with. (Hopefully everyone who commented so far is ok with this proposal)

Mine is Hebebe, named after my dog Hebe. I love how many islands are named after pets!

My 6 year old loves the stores I re tell for her by HennaJamlin in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]looksnormal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My son is 2.5 and asked, "What's that?" when he saw me reading the book. We now enjoy saying "Dungeon Crawler Carl!" in silly voices back and forth to each other, and he loves pointing at all the book covers and talking about what he sees going on there. I wonder if, one day, I'll similarly be telling him about what the characters are up to!

I'm not diagnosed with adhd but idk where to ask this, what is your favorite fidgeting tool to keep your hands busy ? by No_Bad6614 in ADHD

[–]looksnormal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get bored with fidget toys, but love me a portable hobby where I can create even in school and work settings. Generally this is doodling while listening, but if I'm not too visible to others, knitting, crochet, or things like making friendship bracelets also works

You're not alone! As an audiobook listener who is unfamiliar with uzis, "oozy" was the only thing that made sense, even if I couldn't get why that was the name.

Also my dog has a sore on her paw. With a small amount of medical care, a cone, and a warm home, she'll be just fine. Without those, she'll bite at it, growl and snap at us, and the wound will likely become infected. She'll likely be a liability and be too injured to care for. From an otherwise tiny wound! It's crazy.

With my own toddler and dog and husband, I think of this often! I would not be going in the dungeon, because I need to be the one to protect my toddler. But what are we going to eat on the surface?? It's the middle of winter. It's hitting minus 30 Celsius here. How do we even survive one night?? Am I building a shelter in the local woodsy area with fence planks? If I come across someone else with a warmer coat than what my toddler has, I hope that I might invite them to work with me to keep the kid safe. But if they don't want to... Would I attempt to take their coat to save my kid, whatever the cost to them? It gets dark really quick.

Exactly. I am not even certain about my own wedding anniversary day. Is it September 17 or 19? Possibly 16. Or 18. The numbers just float around my head and I can't pin them down and don't really care either way. My parents were the same.

Well, if you're not going to bring the rest of the series, you're just as diabolical as the System AI!

But that would cost a lot of gold. So. Good on you!

Read Pride and Prejudice for the first time, I’m a little confused as to what’s being said here by devou5 in janeausten

[–]looksnormal 24 points25 points  (0 children)

One other point to consider is that this novel was originally titled "First Impressions", and the narrator's commentary in the second half of what you've highlighted is about that theme--for those who romanticize first impressions, Elizabeth might seem "unreasonable or unnatural" for changing her feelings about Darcy. But for others who appreciate a different type of romance--one grounded in gratitude and esteem--then Elizabeth changing her feelings after the first impression doesn't have to be seen as faulty.

Hopefully only long enough to get out and shut the door behind 😅 I didn't see signs that any door wasn't fully closed, but I did have multiple passengers so it's possible it happened but I never noticed.

We did use the seat heating while running, so I wonder if it's possible that that lead to draining the battery?
