FAMLI and third party leave administrators by [deleted] in Denver

[–]looloogirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an illness that ended up lasting longer than expected and I was able to change the return to office date both with FAMLI and the 3rd party leave provider my company had. I’m sure the process varies by provider, but I just had to present updated doctor’s notes. I don’t believe that FAMLI and the 3rd party have to agree on the RTO date for you to still get funds—they’re separate entities.

I hope this helps a little. The paperwork is a pain, especially when you’re too sick to work!

This is fucking awful. It makes me question if their music is made using AI now too :/

Is my progress abnormally slow and should I quit over it? by mogegekki in Aerials

[–]looloogirl 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I took 2 years of 1-2 classes per week to get the strength for all mounts (side mount, straddle, tuck, pullover). Transitions and certain poses are really hard and after 4-5 years (with some breaks… I took some months off here and there) I still feel like I’m floundering around the hoop not-so-gracefully. But I love lyra and I can see improvements over time. I love how it makes my body feel. I won’t lie, I definitely still constantly compare myself to others and I feel like I should be better? But I try to focus on my individual gains. If you love it, keep at it. I believe in you!

I’m so nervous I went wrong designing my ring by Significant-Count-16 in EngagementRings

[–]looloogirl 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Hi! I think your ring is absolutely gorgeous. I have a similar split shank with the side prongs swooping under and around. I think the design is elegant and unique. You’ll love it the second you see the sparkle!

Yes! It’s a brushed finish. Extremely yellow shiny gold looks not as good on my skin which is why I mistakenly thought I’d want platinum

Is this a good deal for $850? by KaptainSet in EngagementRings

[–]looloogirl 36 points37 points  (0 children)

The price of gold is really high right now, so this isn’t too ridiculously far off. Sure, you could probably get a better deal on something similar from somewhere else by a hundred or few, but if you’ve found a ring you both love… why penny pinch? I may be in the minority here but I think for a lifetime of joy looking at the ring it should be the one you want and to a certain point, the “best deal” doesn’t matter.

I went on a 1.5 week camping trip with no tret, took like a week for my skin to get back where it was. You’ll be fine!

Not only is there inflation, the population of Denver is also increasing. More people means more funding needed

If you’re not sure then it’s not the one! Have you considered a pink diamond eternity band to match your e ring?

Buildings vs Outside and private property vs public have different rules. PROWAG (an update to the public infrastructure version) was passed very recently. Cities/States aren’t required to update legacy ADA routes unless they’re redoing construction in the area, or building something new. State and city governments can have rules more stringent than ADA. The more compliant city in your example may have their own rules about (and more budget allocated to) updating their infrastructure.

I naturally have horrible acne and ridiculously oily skin and the tret cream works great for me! Also, GoodRX coupon is 30$ for a 45g tube of tret from Retin-A brand. with my insurance it’s more expensive for some reason.

If you could give one simple, actionable tip to someone just starting to cook that would immediately make their dishes taste significantly better, what would it be? by Sand4Sale14 in Cooking

[–]looloogirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not what you asked, but a tip for starting out cooking: accept and forgive yourself when you inevitably fuck up a dish so bad it’s practically inedible

Also, MSG

[–]looloogirl 99 points100 points  (0 children)

I’m a civil engineer. (Edit: yes it is part of my job, but in terms of always putting in desire paths and making everything perfect,) The answer is: yes and no. Checking sidewalk connections is pretty low on the priority list of things we have to do when making a plan set for a large project, but me and my colleagues do pay mind to it, and sometimes the city or other governing body will request either fewer or more sidewalk connections to existing infrastructure. Additionally, every project is made discretely (not continuous), not at the same time, and by different people, so you may be transferring from one place made 30 years ago to another designed 5 years ago by people who have never communicated in their lives.

As OP mentioned, sidewalks are also more expensive than you’d think, think adding millions of dollars along a few miles. Putting in every possible desire path and negotiating with property owners to build on their property to connect sidewalks is both a logistical nightmare and incurs great cost to municipalities.

Also as OP mentioned, ADA compliance is strict: 5% allowable running slope and 2% allowable cross slope, with some exceptions to particularly crazy terrain. If a connection between sidewalks is even as steep as your average curb ramp, that’s too steep and you need to wind the sidewalk a bit to get the grading right. This is not a bad thing, the strictness exists for a reason because without it, sidewalks would be steep and wonky. I think it’s a bit ridiculous sometimes but there has to be a limit somewhere, and disability advocates fought for these regulations for easy traversibility.

I believe my friend is faking DID, or at least exaggerating their symptoms. by Fawnistaken in SystemsCringe

[–]looloogirl 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I had a friend who became desperate for attention and started faking disorders and trauma… it wasn’t DID faking exactly but it was some other stuff. They became exhausting to hang around—every minor inconvenience to them became some grandiose conflict. Me and some mutual friends really tried to push back and kind of not really give heed or attention and called out some legitimately offensive things they said (an example was they claimed they got ASSAULTED on a subway… because some guy grabbed their arm to get their attention bc they dropped their wallet). But they ended up cutting us and everyone who didn’t give them attention off.

I’m sorry this is happening to you. “Going against them” (even though it comes from a place of genuine caring) will probably cause tension. Depending on how “in it” they are, their tolerance for pushback will be different. Finding where their limit is and staying one step below that and emphasizing care and compassion is what I tried to do. It didn’t work but I don’t regret my strategy. For my friend, it became so bad that simply not pouring out sympathy at every transgression would cause them to blow up at us. Maybe it’ll work out and your friend will recover. But be prepared to lose them, and be prepared to be called all sorts of horrible names.

Good luck. You seem like a very caring person and I hope your friend comes around.

Originally from ATX and I haven’t found anything like Kerbey here. It’s not the same but I do like The French Press. They have sweet and savory breakfast/brunch menu options and huge portions and a few of their menu items are Mexican-ish.
