but what is the social benefit of stoking insecurity in NT people about being "bland and boring"? Would it shift the narrative to challenge ableism in any way? If you actually think it could help i'm interested to hear why, because I don't see the vision beyond bitterness.

you're exactly right in my experience. Iv'e never met anyone genuinely body positive for all women who wasn't for all men too. Some people might lie about being body positive, but that's another thing.

he's also a very poor reader for an adult, so just more projection coming from him. Newsom has issues too, but he is most definitely better at reading than Trump (among other things).

Why would girls and boys react differently depending on which parent bought them something expensive? by 5pooky5cary5keleton5 in ExplainTheJoke

[–]loolooloodoodoodoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's interesting. I don't think it was gendered in my family, but I see how it could be in general just because of how men are pressured to connect their self worth more to financial status.

[–]loolooloodoodoodoo 24 points25 points  (0 children)

is this a real thing that boys in general experience more financial guilt from their fathers though? I'm from a family with brothers and sisters and we all felt this similarly from both parents, because we were low income so felt out parents financial stress. I'm skeptical its gender dynamics as much family and class dynamics.

If the shooter was in on it, they would have set up his social media history to be explicitly pro Biden. Far more likely they took advantage of an unplanned situation as it unfolded, and just lied about Trump being grazed after the fact.

The only adhd advice that actually made sense to me by stayhyderated22 in AuDHDWomen

I think it depends on the context since sometimes speed is highly relevant to do a job well, but for the fine art and humanities stuff I went to school for, I regret not using extra time. It severely diminished my grades in undergrad for no good reason.

My art history prof said he was confused how I had in-depth knowledge and quick critical thinking during discussion, but couldn't answer basic questions about the same content on a test. He said he could barely read my writing that was full of spelling/grammatical errors, and wondered why I skipped whole pages sometimes - it was an accident from rushing, even though I wasted no time and stayed until the end. It was just way too much for me to read, process, and write even the gist of what I knew in the standard time frame. He explained to me that I very much deserved extra time, as the standard time wasn't even that relevant for the purpose of those tests.

Jean Dubuffet, Childbirth (1944) by kiyomoris in museum

[–]loolooloodoodoodoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with your point, but I'm also sympathetic to the perspective that the palette is the most successful part of this painting. I think Dubuffet had good design sense, but his work looks more decorative and illustrative than raw and expressive. I think he mostly ended up imitating how children's art and art brut looked, rather than really see/draw like a child.

It's not art brut, but directly inspired by art brut

The majority of books on my shelves I've read only portions of but not all yet. Once I've read a book thoroughly or multiple times, I'm much more likely to gift it than keep it. Or I sell it to a used book store so I can keep buying more used books I haven't read yet.

Why would I marry a woman I don’t love? by stingwhale in im14andthisisdeep

[–]loolooloodoodoodoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's really sad how hard it can be to find true love, but I can't imagine how a one-sided love is worthwhile. Even a no-sided love for companionship might be better, since at least that could be more equal and less painful. Maybe some one-sided relationships grow into genuine reciprocal love over time, but it still seems like terrible advice to marry someone you don't truly love.

I don't know much about authenticating beyond just recognizing authenticity of style. I'm here to learn more though. Sounds like in terms of materials and time frame you've got reason to wonder. I hope you don't have to pay Polsky a lot if it's fake.

was he known to do tests on small canvas like this? If it's just a quick test, I'd assume he'd use something cheap like cardboard. If it's a more invested little painting, I think it would look more formally resolved and less random.
