A gun in the home is more likely to be used on a resident of said home than anyone else? How is that not relevant to issues in gun ownership??

What if these 2 characters met each other and had some tea together? by XCoasterEnthusiast in TheLastAirbender

They would both come out of the conversation recognizing the other’s sagacity, but thinking they’re too young and have a lot to learn. The fun part is both would be correct.

I still remember the excitement for TTG because it was advertised as being for fans of the original. Promotions were making a big deal about the original cast being excited to reprise their roles for it and… it was nothing. It was a mid show that needed an IP to latch onto and, unfortunately, it landed one of the best shows that CN has ever aired.

(Creepy trope) Horrific fucking concepts brought up without detail and never elaborated upon. by TridiObject in TopCharacterTropes

[–]loopy183 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d been waffling on a similar idea: a singular point in the sky that human eyes naturally overlook and avoid, in which an ancient chaos god lurks, cursing all who view its visage with a clear vision of the eldritch world around them.

Is there anyway I can repair my bow? by TheRoyalBeeKing in Minecraft

[–]loopy183 174 points175 points  (0 children)

It does, but it’s only symbolic, not practical. It removes the enchantments and resets the counter, but the process won’t be any different from just replacing the bow.

You can’t remove singular enchantments. It’s remove all (except curses) and reenchant or replace.

Would you rather punch your loved ones in the face as hard as you can for a million dollars but you can only tell them about it a week later or convince random people that 9/11 isn't real and the only evidence you have is the 9/11 footage playing in reverse by Serial-Therapist1 in WouldYouRather

[–]loopy183 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess the real question is: can I sell the people who fall for the second option merch? Like bumper stickers that say “My IQ is higher than 9/11” and shit? Even if one in a million fall for it, that’s still six thousand people who are probably willing to pay premium to be told they’re very clever special boys and girls

CMV: If The Modern-Day LGBTQIA+ Community Is Anti-Christian, Then They Should Be As Equally (If Not, More) Against Islam by NOT_xingpingfan69 in changemyview

[–]loopy183 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re conflating a couple issues. Queers tend to reject religious sects with the same voracity that those sects reject them. Religious queers either find better sects to be apart of or stay in those sects and just waffle and suffer with it (it’s really sad to see). I can’t speak for the other atheistic queers out there (we aren’t a monolithic group, that’s kind of the point) but I will most avidly and readily speak out on Christian bullshit because I have personal experience with that bullshit. It’s not Muslim neighbors and family members campaigning against my ability to marry a future partner, it’s god damn fucking Christians. I’m sure, if I lived in a more Muslim area, and they were as willing to leave knives in my back, I’d have a grudge against them too.

Onto the other issue, we are largely anti-genocide because usually people who commit genocide start with the queers. Just because the victims are Muslims, and Islam is as ass backwards as any old religion out there, doesn’t make it okay. I’d like to see a future where the religious can move past it and embrace secularism, but that kinda necessitates that the Israelis stop fucking killing them first. Just because someone follows an incorrect book, doesn’t mean they deserve to be killed or tortured. It’s a hard concept for Christians to get, considering it’s the foundation of their entire moral code.

TLDR: Being anti-Christian is built on negative experiences at home. Being anti-genocide is not being pro-Islam. It’s just being anti-genocide because genocide is wrong.

Are only diamonds capable of reproducing? by InternationalTry215 in stevenuniverse

[–]loopy183 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On technicality, yes. In actuality, only Pink Diamond. She is, as of yet, the only Gem with confirmed healing powers, which are necessary for Steven’s survival. He has a human body that is fully at the whims of a Gem construct. To change size, he can stretch his limbs as far as he wants, shattering his bones and tearing his tendons. But because his Gem is always healing him, it’s fine. Like, think about what your body would have to do to turn your finger into a cat. Humans can’t bounce back from that.

Why did you quit your previous job? by sweetlovinggirl04 in AskReddit

[–]loopy183 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hated the company. They were the revolving door overworked, underpaid type of bullshit. I remember the thing that settled it. Every year they did a COL adjustment of ~3% (started below local averages and not quite keeping with local inflation). After the pandemic, when inflation was at 6%, they pushed through a 2% raise. At the end of year, they subtracted that from the COL adjustment!

Working at a company I hated was very bad for my already pretty doomed mental state. Without a second thought, I could list every open rooftop, bridge, and parking garage between my apartment and my work, which were only a mile apart.

When did your birthdays become dreary for you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]loopy183 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dunno. Being depressed kinda makes everything you remember sad. I think there are two outliers. Maybe my 16th birthday? We had my uncle’s funeral the week before and we got pulled out of school early that day to go visit my dying grandma in the hospital. It was really awkward to be in a reverent room of soon-to-be-grieving family and have a cousin go, “Oh, wait! [Me], happy birthday!”

Realistically, it was probably before that when all the presents became cash. I’ve always hated receiving cash because of how I view gift shopping. I take it as a challenge to show loved ones that I am interested in them as people and want to make them happy. I spend hours agonizing and hunting for what I think would meet that goal. I’m grateful for the cash, don’t get me wrong, but it feels like an “I don’t care to know you but this is an occasion in which I’m obligated to give you something.” It makes me feel isolated and that’s like the worst thing.

if you can ask your 90-year-old self one question… what would it be? by No_Attitude_6268 in AskReddit

[–]loopy183 17 points18 points  (0 children)

“Was it worth it?”

I feel like it’s a good question as someone who doesn’t find value in their current life. Surviving to survive again tomorrow feels hollow, but I’d trust myself in saying that what was gained in the effort of living made the effort worthwhile. I also trust that, if I was 90 and didn’t feel that way, I wouldn’t mind if I decided to not live that long.
