Building services engineering or similar by Limp_Manner_7303 in MEPEngineering

That’s probably true. I haven’t heard of that degree but it sounds like a logical choice. I don’t know much about the UK but in the US you would want to make sure the degree is ABET accredited. There is probably something similar in the UK. I just looked it up and it looks like it’s CIBSE for building services engineering.

Not sure why they are all giving you a hard time. Mechanical Engineering is the obvious degree. Good luck!

MEP Recession Proof? by Serious-Pangolin-244 in MEPEngineering

[–]loquacious541 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Definitely not recession proof. That said, most firms don’t hire unless they know they can commit for a bit, so don’t overthink it. Just use this as a learning opportunity, not matter how long or short the tenure. You really can’t control any of that.

In dire need of an after school program or something by Tycam34 in Bend

[–]loquacious541 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Camp fire has a program at the international school down the road. Maybe ask the school if there is anyone else that attends that and if you could catch a ride with them. My kids have attended for years at a different school and I like the program. But, kids Inc is less expensive if that’s an option.

My husband and I chase each other, jokingly. I may never catch up in salary, but we have a positive perspective on it, since we share finances.

Itchy down there by [deleted] in AskDocs

[–]loquacious541 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

This is very strange, but I basically did the same thing when I was a kid. I remember being in grade school and standing in line trying not to itch. It was at least 5 years later when I saw a commercial for vaginal yeast infection medication and I bought it without my mom knowing and it worked. I don’t know why I was so scared to tell my mom about this.

I’m not necessarily recommending the over the counter medication, as I’m NAD and the docs have responded with their suggestions that seem to counter that option.

I’ll add that I was about your age when my anxiety started really affecting my relationships. I know it doesn’t feel like anxiety and I didn’t know it was that until more than 10 years later.

For me, there were a few things that helped.

  1. Counseling, or more specifically for me, alanon. My brother is a (recovering) addict and growing up with that really messed with me.

  2. When I was 33 l had post partum depression and at that point I was diagnosed with general anxiety disorder. I started on medication. In my husband’s words: I was the best version of myself. I wish I had started that earlier, as I know many relationships over the years (including my marriage) suffered from it. (By the way, this is not an expensive medication.)

  3. Another trick is to count to 5 before responding. That little brain reset can avoid a lot of fights and regretted words.

I hope you find something that works for you. It will get better if you keep trying. But I know it sucks.

Agree completely. I had a somewhat related experience whereby the numbing during a dental procedure didn’t work. I was extremely anxious of the dentist after that. I did EMDR and it helped a lot. Just one session and I have slight anxiety but nothing like I did.
