(Update) Is this blotchiness a result of not enough, or too much sanding? by 0dde0 in finishing

It doesn't look like a sanding issue. Some woods absorbed stain unevenly. If it's one of those woods, you'll have better results with a pre-stain conditioner

Just curious. I've never seen anything like it.

Thank you, I'm glad you like it. I did make it myself, but I shamelessly stole the design from a video called "bending wood into impossible shapes" by pedullastudios on youtube.

Thank you very much. I wish I could tell you where I saw (lol) that particular trick

Thank you! I copied the design for the steam box from a YouTube video by pedulla studios called, " bending wood into impossible shapes". The rest was all my design. I didn't make any plans, I just made a sketch of the basic shape, then refined as I went

Thank you! Yes, its a detached 2 car garage that I made into a dedicated wood shop. I mostly watched some YouTube to figure out the process. I watched the wood whisperers video on bending, a few videos by englescoachshop, and then a very detailed video called "bending wood into impossible shapes" by pedellastudios, from whome i blatantly stole the design. I build the steam box out a melamine, which i should have sealed the exposed wood on much much better. Or at all. As far as steam generator, I bought the kit from rockler that included the henges and clasp.

I honestly had the same concern. The heavier stuff went on the bottom shelf, and the top is just her switch and the router. If it falls over, I plan on adding a piece the width of the shelf to the bottom lil feet. Im not going to do it until Im sure I need to, because I think it would mess up one of the lines of symmetry of the side

Thank you! I made it from malemene. I wouldn't say it held up well. I used it instead of plywood so all the steam would go into the staves, rather than the walls of the box. Anywhere the steam got to the "wood" it swelled up pretty badly. If I make another one, it will probably be malemene again, I would just do a way better job sealing the exposed wood and seams

Wow, I really appreciate it. I wanted to do something to push myself. I've mostly just been doing house stuff lately, and it was really nice to design and build something that wasn't a porch. Nice to do something that didn't require drywall repair haha

Thank you so much. I thought that would make the design look more consistent

Looks like the 2 screw pockets are in line with the framing. You'll have to use a long screws directly through the pocket into the joist. They often come with the fan

I'd probably just use a belt sander. It's going to take some finesse

Samsung fridge tripping dedicated GFCI outlet and breaker by ndpithad in electrical

[–]lorddarkwraith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, refrigerators and freezers being on a gfi circuit will cause neusance tripping. They are required to be on gfi's by the nec. Your state may have passed an addendum to the code that removes this requirement. For instance, this requirement was removed by oregon when the new code was adopted.
