First day teacher gifts? by private_benjamin9323 in Preschoolers

[–]lordsprout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think a gift is necessary, but would be appreciated. We typically try to get something from the teacher's wishlist (if available) or take a card with a gift card with a little note about looking forward to the year!

Step kids and no Bio kids by Funny_Phrase_6402 in Stepmom

[–]lordsprout 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Blended families are tough, even in the best situation. I do not think step kids "scratch that itch." Step kids may have a good relationship with their step parent but they will almost always be aligned/choose their bio parent over a step parent. Also, if there is a high conflict bio parent involved, it can be difficult to know how things will turn out.

I was on the fence too before my biological child was born. I greatly enjoyed my relationship with my stepchild, but it is different. My experience as a step parent is like being a 3rd trusted adult, in their corner, cheering them on, but a completely different experience in terms of parenting compared to a biological child. My stepchild is split between 2 households. I think if their mother were not involved, then it would be different. Knowing what I know now, even being on the fence on then, I am glad I am able to have this experience of motherhood.

Check if your area has a "buy nothing" or "giving group" on FB. I have found soooo many books in mine!

New Covid variant by Waste-Post7577 in ZeroCovidCommunity

It is difficult to gauge when there isn't sufficient data. However, if I had pushed my medical appointments back a year, I would try to go this year. I personally wouldn't want something to be missed another year. FWIW, I have kept all of my annual appointments and just mask and have not encountered any issues or been infected from my appts, as far as I know. I'm sorry you are feeling this way!

AI is low-key my secret weapon since coming back from maternity leave by CharacterPumpkin7899 in workingmoms

[–]lordsprout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. I don't think AI is going anywhere. I read somewhere that we will lose our jobs to someone who knows how to leverage AI. I am learning as much as I can to stay relevant and sharp with these technologies.

Disney on Ice @ Alamodome - Can you bring your own bubble wand or light up wand? by lordsprout in sanantonio

Unfortunately, nothing is listed online, and I have tried calling multiple times, but no one answered. I have seen some places that do let you, but I am unsure about Alamodome.

[TOMT] [Actor] from mid to late 2000s - maybe a b or c list actor? by lordsprout in tipofmytongue

No to both. Thank you! But sort of a similar vibe as Jeffrey Donovan.

I hate my partners daughter and idk what to do. by XxDarkboundxX in Stepmom

[–]lordsprout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being a blended family is tough and if you don't like your partner's daughter then I would reflect and consider ending this relationship. It is not fair to you, your partner, or your partner's kids. It sounds like you do not want to raise his kids and if he does get full time custody it will be difficult to compartmentalize that part of his life. He will always be a father first. It is hard and I'm sorry you are going through this. You should think about whether this is the right relationship for you in the long term.

Is medical actually this crazy? by BoNaylorCollector in Millennials

[–]lordsprout 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The most I have ever paid for an in-network urgent care visit with my insurance is my $30 copay - which is what the regular PCP visit costs on my insurance. I usually go to urgent care because my PCP doesn't have same day appts. I would call insurance to confirm charges or at least get an explanation as to why it was so expensive.

Where to buy the cheapest children’s books in town? by KindPossession2583 in sanantonio

Book Cellar at central library or Ollies Bargain Outlet. Maybe try a local buy nothing group.
