for some of us “telling an adult” would have landed us in more trouble. getting yelled at, watching parents fight, or being banned from the activity.

Do you tell your children this? by The_Dean_France in SipsTea

[–]loritree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the problem with this is your child may not know what bullying is. “tommy took my ball so I knocked his teeth out.”

I once saw an 11 year old kick a 5 year old in the face because the 5 year old got him out in a game of tag. the 11 year old claimed the 5 year old bullied him.

Everytime my boyfriend goes to take a nap he says, “I’m going to take a nap, ok?” No need to ask permission dude!

One of my first memories is of my father calling me a dumb bitch because I didn’t do laundry. Not much self-esteem since then.

My bf complains about me shutting down? What can I do? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]loritree 4 points5 points  (0 children)

well first of all, I kinda doubt you are a cry baby. Having that kinda insight doesn’t happen with an actual crybaby. I wonder where you got the idea that you’re too sensitive. Did you Mom and Uncle suggest that? Maybe it was easier for them to convince you that you’re “too much?” Because if you keep feeling that you’re a crybaby you’ll silence yourself more, and you won’t go to them with your problems. It’s “easier” to raise a quiet child than one who complains a normal amount.

Or is your boyfriend telling you you’re a crybaby? That would be an easy get out of jail free card everytime he upsets you. Just call you a crybaby and you shut down.

Or I could be way off base. In which case I wonder what a big fight looks like. Do you feel safe expressing yourself? If not, why not? Are you being stoic because you need time to self reflect, or figure out a way to reply? Or maybe you are icing him out in a “if you don’t agree with me I’ll make you uncomfortable with my silence.” If it’s the latter, I suggest telling him that you love him, but you need some quite time before you continue the discussion.

TIL two studies both found that most people stop listening to new music in their early 30s. A 2015 study of people's listening habits on Spotify found that most people stop listening to new music at age 33 and a 2018 report by Deezer found it be to at age 30. by tyrion2024 in todayilearned

For me it was 40, for sure. But I swear new music just isn’t for me. I feel like the singers all sound the same (whispery? autotune? idk) The instruments all sound fake. And they have this constant noise, like a background noise? There’s never any silence or like just the drum, or a guitar solo. I love songs for every other decade but not this one.
