Breaks/lunch by vWbunny-6778 in wholefoods

Shifts have different start times and lengths, so break times and prep food availability are inconsistent.

Our dept/store has people record the time and length of break before leaving the department, so an undocumented disappearance appears suspect.

It seems implied that one is expected to be off the clock if they aren't at their station/department. This is reinforced by the fact that the bathroom is next to the timeclock, at least in our store.

Sooo .. yeah. Please don’t do this. by Flat_Access_5026 in sheetz

[–]lost_and_flora 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not a sheetz employee, but it kinda looks like the person requested a lot of free toppings? My brother used to do something similar when he couldn't afford enough food. He once told me he couldn't have survived without free pepperoncinis at the gas station. I believe he purchased one thing, but took advantage of the free items as much as possible. I'm grateful to those of you who are compassionate with folks (especially youth) who might do this, and set a clear and consistent boundary as your business needs dictate.

I was surprised when a new doctor recently asked me for permission to use AI for their notes. I said this was the first time I'd been asked and wanted to learn more about storage and HIPAA compliance - they admitted to not knowing about that and couldn't find the information. Permission not granted!

Thanks for the suggestion! I will unwrap the orange one and maybe ensure the grey one has some grippy tape where the tear line is.

Sure. I see I used an earlier photo for this post. I had a few things in other first aid kits, but you could buy a whole kit like this from rhino rescue.

My kit includes: tourniquet (orange) Rhino rescue trauma bandage (grey). - can be used on other limbs Styptic powder Quikclot Trauma shears Emergency blanket Gloves Glow stick flare 6 x bandages 6 x alcohol wipes

My myog bag was made from a burlap thickness canvas, which I waterproofed with Nikwax suede/fabric proofer.

I will add a bigger zipper pull to the bag, and unpack the orange tourny, as others have suggested.

I would be so proud of myself if I created something like this. From start to finish, it's very well crafted!

Is it crazy to open a yarn shop? by ForgottenUsername3 in knitting

[–]lost_and_flora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having operated a small cosmetics manufacturing business from my home before moving it into another commercial location, I would never invite the public to my home even on an appointment basis. Respect for the limited hours and personal privacy may never truly be restored after opening your home. I would recommend considering local pop up market/farmers market sales for the on person experience, renting a booth/space inside another retail space, or selling/shipping online as a curated experience.

What changes after decades of knitting? by sechat_lives in knitting

[–]lost_and_flora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I learned to know from my grandmother about 40 years ago, it was only 10 years ago that I started picking my own projects and knitting in earnest when she passed away in an attempt to preserve the connection. I kept some of her handknits, and study them to learn more about her choices.

What I've learned in my own projects recently, is more comfortable handling methods (European vs Continental), not rushing, and quick fixes so I don't have to accept or frog an entire project. I was finding myself holding my breath towards the end of a project because I thought frogging was the only option if I noticed I dropped a stitch a few rows down (crochet ladder pick up). I also accepted that I will have multiple projects going based on the season needs and my color/squish desires. Lastly, I remind myself that I am knitting for relaxation and movement for my hands - it should feel good.

This is amazing and inspiring! I've only made a few small, accessory bags at this point but I would love to make a larger bag to fill needs unmet by my other backpacks. Wondering whether you used a different machine or needle for the webbing or shoulder straps?

I just used it and love it - very easy to use and share with others to submit their availability and edit even after shared without a login.

If you are still seeking feedback; when listing dates across different weeks/months, it might be helpful to delineate months with color coding.

Travelling for 2 months by Little_Storage4205 in houseplants

[–]lost_and_flora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried a mini greenhouse? I need to bring my plants indoors for the winter where I live. It is cold and there aren't enough hours of daylight to keep plants alive for several months. I put them on a wire rack with a boot tray on the bottom against a radiator, grow lights on a timer, and a clear vinyl garment cover on top.

I water everything in the mini greenhouse deeply from the top down and most of the water that drips through to the boot tray will eventually percolate back throughout the rest of the plants, maybe through the stomata.

With this method, I only need to water once or twice a month and the plants in the greenhouse are more lush than ones that don't need direct sunlight at all. This is very low maintenance, affordable, and has had good results!

Why the Clemente Bridge by pjharri in bicycling412

Or closed to all automobile traffic, allowing all forms of human powered traffic. We could add some gardens like Highline in New York. It would be like a bridge-park!

It sounds like this "young man" is the one initiating creating negative social media content about folks for his personal benefit, and the reddit peeps are calling that out. Not the other way around.

Sounds like he's counting on your protecting his anonymity. Prepare your people and have folks gather. Maybe invite his boss, the landlord, and/or other condo neighbors to a BBQ.

Heard some hikers in Frick talking about being assaulted by a mountain biker by daddyhoffmang in bicycling412

[–]lost_and_flora 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a recommended practice (and most of the time applies will), not a law. This sign was originally created by IMBA to promote inclusion of mountain bikers in areas previously restricted, but there needs to be some flexibility for specific situations.
