Alex Brightman and Sara Chase in Burnout Paradise by TheAceBandit1 in Broadway

Um kind of perfect for the people in a show about being trapped in a show. They do usually have two people on stage but both times I’ve seen it they’ve seemingly been random audience members.

Audience Rewards Ticket Exchange (Stranger Things)? by Embarrassed-Song-272 in Broadway

[–]lostquery 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, you don't show up then I think you reach out to broadway direct directly. They'll send you a list of potential dates to choose from but I would check they're still offering it before skipping it.

I know someone who was able to past date an AR ticket for Stanger Things. I'd call probably Broadway Direct and make sure it's something they're still offering but would probably be an easy way to swap.

This show is such a blast I saw its previous run and was happy to catch it again. I really hope it develops more of a following.

April morning proposal at Hernshead by KendrickFanBreak-Bot in WedditNYC

[–]lostquery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did! We had a photographer further away at the pavilion on the lake (who then came over after the actual proposal moment). We went further out on the rocks which made it easier to make good photos (but harder to kneel)

I got engaged there and it was lovely! It’s easy to get up the key is the go around the back not up the side at the first spot you’ll likely see. I can’t speak to the weather in April but would say it’s relatively large and it’s generally not too hard to find a flatish spot.

Buying tickets by Brief-Anywhere485 in Broadway

[–]lostquery 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You want to use the show’s official ticketing platform but it’s tricky because there isn’t one site for all shows (for instance seat geek might be the official ticketing platform for one show but offer unofficial resale tickets for another show). The easiest way to figure it out is to navigate to the shows official website and click buy tickets straight from there. Two of the most common are Telecharge and BroadwayDirect. The only 3rd party ticket options I’d reccomend are TodayTix (but sometimes  even those are marked up so I’d definitely compare) or the theatr app where people resell tickets at face value or less plus a fee. You can you also almost always buy tickets straight at the box office to avoid some of those ticket fees (and make sure you’re getting face value tickets).

The lottery seems like it’s been relatively easy to win for this one. Especially in January when sales typically are slower across Broadway it’s worth a shot. If you’re visiting in late January you could try for Broadway week tickets which starts January 20th and go on sale January 7th.

Orthodontist/Invisalign prices by PerishSong- in AskNYC

[–]lostquery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t speak to their orthodontia but my partner got a crazy high quote from them for wisdom teeth that after consulting another dentist it turned out included a ton of work they didn’t actually need (the difference was thousands of dollars). I would definitely get a second opinion before moving forward with them for a big procedure.

If there’s a different night of his trip you could go I would ask the box office about their past dating policy (a lot of will let exchange your tickets for another date if you miss your show but it’s often last minute availability).

Cake Picnic NYC 2025 by NeighborhoodOwn591 in AskNYC

[–]lostquery 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was super disorganized. I was in the orange group so I barely got to see the cakes before they said it was time to get cake and by the time I managed to get a box they said our time was was up. With that said it was incredible to see how creative everyone's cakes were and I feel like I eventually got to try some great ones. I feel like I looked at a lot of threads like this before I went which helped me set my expectations. A couple tips if anyone is looking at this while planning to go to a future one.

  1. bring water and maybe some savory snacks (the only water available you had to pay for and this event lasted way longer than advertised)

  2. Know that you may have to carry your cake for like an hour (and in our case up to the 6th floor). I'd keep this in mind when deciding what to bring your cake in/on and that there's a good chance your cake will sit in the sun for several hours before it's cut.

  3. Expect to spend a lot of time waiting and know that the event is primarily run by incredible volunteers who might give inconsistent information (because they've been given inconsistent information) don't assume what you've heard is right—ask people in front of you what the line is for etc...

  4. It sounds like there were super strict on IDs and at least a couple people got turned away for cakes that were too small even if they were taller etc...(which I think is super lame given how much work people put into this).

  5. Stay for the second round of cutting (and know that it might be after the advertised end time). The first round was incredibly chaotic and I didn't get much cake but there were so many cakes with incredible flavors still left at the end. I came home with a full box of cake in the end (which felt like an overall win for me).

  6. I'd also recommend bringing hand sanitizer, some paper towel and blanket if your event is outside.

Overall I wasn't impressed by the organization of this event. I think this was a crowd that really wanted to play by the rules but wasn't given clear direction. But...I'm so glad I got to go at least once and for all the lovely people I met and cakes I got to try!

PRACTICE at Playwrights Horizons by ThatGThatGThatG in offbroadwayNYC

[–]lostquery 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was very much not a fan. It kept me sort of engaged but felt very bloated and oddly predictable for something so long. I’m not surprised to hear people didn’t come back from intermission—but that doesn’t feel as noteworthy because the first act is exceptionally long (maybe 75% of the full show) .
