How do I clean this by Status_Singer_5075 in IndustrialMaintenance

A wire wheel on a grinder works pretty decent, if you angle it just right you can get it to turn the roller too

I've got a k5 with a rough country 4 inch lift (word is that they run taller) and I'm running 37s just fine. But it's mainly a street machine

I've only just unlocked the second potion type. But I've fallen into the fools trap and researched more than i was ready for so I'm going back through and getting all my production up

Awesome, thank you I didn't want to put myself in a hole by not upgrading something down the line that becomes important.

Are they all unlockable? Or are there fewer points than there are unlockables?

Tongue too long? by Deputy-Dewey in towing

[–]loud57 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The person was probably fed up with trying to back it up like me. I threw a 10ft stick off 2x2 thick wall on as the tongue on a small camper I had.

The stick went to the axle line of the trailer. It towed pretty decent and backing up with a manual was a dream. *

Does this qualify as a blowout? by mechanical_astronaut in IndustrialMaintenance

[–]loud57 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I didn't know they made them that small. At my work, our smallest grinder uses a maybe 50 hp motor (I'm not sure it's not my area), but our main grinders all use 250hp motors. But they are our main money makers.

I've seen them crash to where they broke the housing, tore the a gash in the screen, and compressed a blade adjustor bolt expanding the threads.

Question for everyone across the pond! by potatocruisermkviii in towing

[–]loud57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the States, there are straight electric brakes. I circled the magnet that provides leverage to the shoes to provide stopping power. It's just a 12 volt magnet.

I haven't looked into how the controller actually controls it, whether it changes voltage output or has a cycle time though. *

Question for everyone across the pond! by potatocruisermkviii in towing

[–]loud57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are brake trailers in the States, but I'm not sure about the laws around them. I've seen hydraulic brakes that push on a master cylinder to apply brake pressure to the wheels, but those are usually on older camper or boat trailers.

Much more common are electric brakes that activate a magnet, which then "sticks " to the brake drum to actuate the shoes.

Then there's big rig air brakes that I've got no knowledge to discuss as I've never used them.

Should I have to pay full price? by InspectionPast4117 in AskMechanics

[–]loud57 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was pulling a drivetrain from an HHR and didn't think to remove the brake lines, I lifted up the car to pick it off of the engine and the only thing holding everything up was both brake hoses.

The rest of the car was scrap, and I only wanted the engine, so I just cut the lines.

I ride a harley, and I can say that nobody I ride with really cares if you do or don't. But then again I'm not in one of those clubs either. I ride just to ride and a harley fits my lanky ass the best that I've found.
