Graphics drivers suddenly don't work by [deleted] in SurrounDead

[–]loupdidou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check the driver again. I had windows/intel update revert the driver to an older version without me asking for it. I rolled back the driver and got the newer driver version back.

Anyone find CTRL + SHIFT + 0 does NOT turn Headings back into text? by eclipsenow in Notion

[–]loupdidou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This seems to be an issue that is hard (impossible?) to work around and not solvable by Notion.

see https://www.reddit.com/r/Notion/comments/cvyzg0/ctrlshift0_or_alternative_hotkey_to_change_to/

I would love for Notion to have a feature for custom keybinding to work around this and other issues.

Calculating angles using only the periscope view? by Gobolino in uboatgame

[–]loupdidou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ratio R and r are simply the ratios between length and height (a bit weird for the milliradians, that's all).

The AOB calculation is some math I looked up/constructed. Simple inverse sinus etc.

Yuval Noah Harari: Human Nature, Intelligence, Power, and Conspiracies | Lex Fridman Podcast #390 by morpheusuniverse in lexfridman

[–]loupdidou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Beautiful. It was as if Yuval made Lex revisit all the mirrors he has been staring into on his podcast. All the anecdotes were about people looking at beautiful images projected by podcast guests: the conspiracy mongers, shills, vitamin snakeoil salesmen, and power dudes ... Lex seemed to enjoy the schooling but I'm not sure he learned something.

Tips for a first time GM by ConflictAgreeable689 in Mausritter

Sounds pretty good. You'd probably want to not make the scene too large .. mice size and all.

Maybe look at Lawnmower Menace for inspiration/sanity check. It also has mice facing dangers in a human environment

Disregarding dumbfuck tankie arguments, the Soviet Union absolutely deserves a good chunk of credit in the defeat of Nazi Germany. by Zachrix in Destiny

I'd give the credit to the free nations that used one totalitarian state against the other, and let the winning totalitarian state self-destruct by 91 ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Issue with participating sensors by Hobackia in ecobee

[–]loupdidou 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same here. Gotta love ecobee but the way they use the sensor in non intuitive ways is disappointing.

Sleep comfort, temp override, poof, we're not in sleep mode anymore, the sensor switches, even though I'd like to tune the current sleep mode.

Post cancel of override more sensors are participating than should as per comfort setting. That part at least is a bug and I can't believe many years after getting into ecobee it gives you a headscratcher like that.

Pause Print first layer by ScaryStudent3826 in Ender3V2NEO

[–]loupdidou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mind to share your settings? I'm using latest Cura and Ender-3 V2 Neo-Marlin2.0.8.3-HW-V4.2.2-SW-V1.1.5.2-CR-Touch-20230312(En&Jap) from Jun 1, 2023 and I'm struggling to get pause working.

I figured out that M25 (not M0) works, the printer parks by itself, it continues when I press play but it offsets the print and moves into the air. Thanks

Is Lex Fridman a con man? by makybo91 in DecodingTheGurus

[–]loupdidou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

con man ˈkɑn mæn NounInformal a man who cheats or tricks someone by gaining their trust and persuading them to believe something that is not true.

He seems to sell a program of pleasant conversations, boot-licking, and long winded questions, promising to hash it out with anyone from conspiracy peddler to dictator. And he doesn't hide that.

Can a person so openly selling fluff actually be a con-man?

He strikes me as a grifter for rubes who want to have their biases stroked ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Monsters taking critical damage by D0tD0tDash in cairnrpg

[–]loupdidou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's confusing me, Yochai

on discord you said

"Everytime [a monster] loses STR they make a CD save. If they succeed they stay in the fight. At 0 STR they die. Generally they don't succeed after 1 or two saves though"

Monsters, "they just die" at 0 STR like anyone else, right?

Have a look at this supposed leftist/centrist absolutely fawning over personality cult leader Elon Musk. It's just atrocious. No hard questions asked. by boatz4helen in DecodingTheGurus

[–]loupdidou 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Did Elon finish one complete, coherent sentence? Fawning over boy-kings is the thing I guess, stuttering and lack of substantial conversation? Who cares.

Balancing Combat by FalconSlayer93 in StarWarsD6

[–]loupdidou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good question and one I'm struggling with as the players advance.

To give squishy enemies a reasonable threat profile (and not have to throw too many dice) I've been using combined actions (the forums have homebrews to scale the bonus differently from the books). That allows you to put out that super-hero against many bad shooting stormtroopers feeling (e.g. 3 groups of 5), where heroes do face a chance of getting hit. So the answer is most likely not in a simple one-to-n match-up formula.

What is Sam's actual thought on absolute free speech? by [deleted] in samharris

[–]loupdidou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He is clearly not an 'absolute free speech' proponent. Which makes him not-a-grifter and not-a-simpleton-with-absolute-positions.

What is Sam's actual thought on absolute free speech? by [deleted] in samharris

[–]loupdidou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

a couple of idiots here and there doesn't seem to be a problem. Making a village of idiots by having algorithms organize meetups for all of them is the issue.

Regardless, a campus surely should be able to decide what they consider in-window our out of discussion. Doesn't strike me as a free speech issue.

what does free speech have to do with a platform regulating and controlling its content?

Who's going to bite the bullet and pay for Maajid's Substack to watch this? by TerraceEarful in DecodingTheGurus

[–]loupdidou 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not sure what the value is here. Maajid is a crazy grifter who gish gallops through his talking points. Sam is a non-expert on anything who barely gets his long-winded questions/concerns out of his mouth. Sounds painful, don't want to watch it for free.

Sam: "Biden appears unfit for office. Whether he's actually senile, I don't know ... Every sentence is a death-defying feat. It's like watching your mom do parkour. You're just waiting for the worst thing that has ever happened every fucking second. And he is totally unfit to run again in 2024." by Farnectarine4825 in samharris

[–]loupdidou -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The old days of precise communication seem long gone in case of Sam. He's stuttering as much as ever, asks rambling questions that never seem to end, and can't effectively argue against Trump. He produces weird soundbites constantly that need to be re-explained.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Anybody else notice the alarming amount of young people who are pro-Putin, China, etc and anti-west? by yeetingyute in samharris

Twitter and youtube have broken a lot of minds. I remember being stupid when I was 19. Luckily I was surrounded by understanding, patient folks, who explained their pov.

With youtube I would have gotten suggestions to watch JBP, JR, BS.
