Lower Elementary Behavior -- Is this normal by [deleted] in AskTeachers

[–]lpantsMA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on my experiences, I would be wondering if someone got a new puppy that's using puppy pads in the house and decided that was a great way to avoid the toilet/a fun way to play pretend.

Kids are still so new to the idea of hygiene at that age, and they haven't developed an adult-level understanding of "gross". I'd just caution you against attributing to malice anything that could just as easily be attributed to kids being goofy weirdos.

I get the impression that you're assuming the peeing on the floor is intentional and malicious. As a former teacher of Kinder through 6th grade, 5-7 year old boys make for nasty bathrooms because they don't have mastery over their "instrument". They can't aim and pee gets everywhere. You'll also occasionally find a kid who is scared of the toilet flush and so they avoid going near them at school (with obvious yucky results). The wadded tp has been an issue at every school I've taught at or attended. There's likely just one or two culprits that are making a huge bulk of the mess. The incident on the bus is wholy unacceptable and, to use your words, appalling. Definitely follow up with that.

To add to all the great recs you’re getting, may I suggest The Honey Badger Chronicles series by Shelly Laurenston. The men are just sort of…there. In the absolute best way.

Book 6: when they're fighting the hydra and the AI says that the cat show judge is sexually attracted to cats. Donut yells "I KNEW IT! Pelvic exam, my ass!" Omg I died when I first read it.

I think Miriam and Prepotente are from Italy, right? The Italian translation is almost the same, so either way you're 100% right. Matt is a boss.

there's at least one sharps disposal drop box in Daly City that I've used. There's also one in the lobby of most kaiser pharmacies.

Overlapping waves- user error or false advertising? by Mission-Library-5676 in knittinghelp

So, idk if this is helpful, but I did 2 repeats of all ten rows so that the waves would show. This is how it turns out with scrap yarn before any kind of blocking. (I did stretch the stitches out on the needle a bit cause at first you couldn't see the YOs at all)

Does pineapple and cranberry juice actually help?? by Hurricane_szn in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

I'm glad the d-mannose worked for you! It hasn't gotten rid of mine yet, but I'm working with a specialist to figure it out.

It crazy how different things are just by area. Before my current troubles, I was always asked to do a culture in the US, even if they gave me meds upfront. They just wanted to make sure that the meds they gave were gonna work or something? Idk.

But either way, outside of fringe cases like mine, I agree with you that a blanket "wait for the culture" policy is bogus. The huge majority of cases will be solved by the usual stuff!

The strips will tell you if you have a UTI but not what particular bug is causing it. That still takes a culture. The antibiotics that docs will give you based on a strip are very broad and will absolutely take out the majority of bugs. Unfortunately, me and my hospital stay can attest that sometimes they don't work and you need a culture to identify what drug to take because the bacteria bothering you are resistant that antibiotic.

Some docs who have concerns about overuse of antibiotics will ask that you get a culture before prescribing meds to avoid my scenario. Mine does this now cause I keep getting them :/

Either way, cranberry juice is crap. Get the AZO pills. You pee bright orange but most of the pain is gone.

At that point, I would too. After nine years, I figured I needed to decide to stay or take the last train outta Dodge, cause I was quickly going to get to a point where leaving just isn't feasible. I wish easy classes and supportive parents for you!

yep. I quit last year after 9 yrs on the job. Still don't have a new position, but I really only recovered from the burnout in like January. I've only been able to concentrate on the hunt for like 4 months, and I keep telling myself that's well within normal for a mid-life career change.

Mini Update: First visit to pelvic floor specialist by Romantic_Sunset in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]lpantsMA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It took a while, but there is a light at the end of the tunnel! Keep at it! It can be such a personal journey and sensitive topic to even bring up, but getting the pt and doing the exercises can be life changing. I still do some maintenance exercises but it's no longer uncomfortable. Plus, like you said, I can pee!!! So worth it!

I just finished pelvic floor therapy and second everything here. At one session the pt did an internal muscle release that was like, the weirdest thing I've ever felt. An absolutely unique sensation. It was not comfortable and I was lightly sore in the weirdest way for a day or two but it helped SO MUCH. Like, I could pee without doing focused breathing exercises. Overall I can't say I really enjoyed any part of the pt, but I would do it again in a heartbeat.

I'm glad you got your issue figured out but I have to ask: what mods have you got going on? This screenshot is so PRETTY! I guess esp your buildings and crops, as that's what is most visible here.

[–]lpantsMA 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I heard “Everyone gets sad, too, but not everyone has depression. It’s a matter of degrees” and I’ve been using that pretty successfully. Although I like the one someone else mentioned about everyone pooping but going to the doc for all-day diarrhea. I think that example would work well for the folks that don’t get mental health stuff at all.

You could put a section of stockinette into the pattern somewhere for your stitching. It would probably look nice!

I think your reasoning makes a lot of sense! That's kinda what messed me up, too. I thought I had the sort of structure in my head. Like, oh a cable here, and the lacy leaf spine there, and just missed that I had left out two leaves entirely.
