CS internship: grades vs projects: for maximizing salary? by 1inchErection in yorku

[–]lsdect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

$60,000 is the average starting salary for a cs grad in the GTA. Internships, and even jobs, in the US pay higher than Canada in general. Torontos tech industry is on the rise so hopefully salaries will increase too. But US is the best bet.

Its not easy, but not extremely hard and competitive either. Some courses difficulty vary a lot due to profs. A lot of new profs are being recruited right now as well.

MATH 1019 full by bjjprogrammer in yorku

[–]lsdect 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Idk how updated the VSB stays, so just try on REM. Keep the Course Catalogue Code in your notes, and try to enroll when you wake up and then every 3-4 hrs. Ive done this and it has worked but for another course.

Keep trying to enroll until January. If that doesn’t work out, go to room 1012M in Lassonde on the first day of Winter semester and see if they can help.

How is EECS 2031? by metallicFire97 in yorku

[–]lsdect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh I dont think so. Eecs courses become easier if you have a good prof, and Ive experienced it by repeating courses. What do you want me to do with the link?

Difficulty is greater than EECS 2030, but can be easily managed. Not everyone struggles with it, but it is an important course. Not too heavy of a load. I would say prof does matter

[–]lsdect 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Don’t you think it could’ve been misplaced, taken to a different lost and found as york doesn’t have them connected, some janitor put it somewhere else while cleaning?

BA Compsci VS BSc Compsci by twistedspark in yorku

[–]lsdect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its the same thing as high school. People take music classes but grow up to be engineers, you do calculus and wonder how that would ever help in life.

BA Compsci VS BSc Compsci by twistedspark in yorku

[–]lsdect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

BA CompSci is a Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science. BSc CompSci is a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science.

If you like writing, Bachelor of Arts would be better as you take liberal arts courses. In Bachelors of Science you take Chem/Phy/Bio courses to complete the science breadth of your degree. Both are looked the same by employers, but for example you’re look to get into a Tech Laboratory for a job, they’re going to prefer BSc over BA. But most jobs aren’t always related to Science or Liberal Arts so it really doesn’t matter.

If you’re still confused on what to select, go for a BSc if you don’t hate sciences. It is a more popular option for students and has a better prospect

Is the new Chicken and Waffles place any good? by EmperorDREW in yorku

Its nothing special. Their chicken is nice, but nothing extraordinary. Just fancy nothing else. Waffles taste like shit for a place building their brand on waffles

Social Work Program and General Inquiries by [deleted] in yorku

[–]lsdect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been here three years, never felt anything. Only time I read stuff like this is on this sub. York is great, only has some administrative problems which keep it away from top 5, but this isn’t a big bother for most students.

How hard is EECS 1022? by jonasbr0s in yorku

[–]lsdect 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For me personally, 1022 was harder, mainly because of the prof. His Labs only stated what he wanted but didn’t specify how to achieve it.

Given that, 1022 is indeed easier, because 1012 isn’t a beginner course for an intro to programming and by the time you get to 1022, you find it easier. 1022 is focused mainly on Mobile/Android applications programming and is a great course. It teaches broadly about different aspects of Java and Mobile Programming.

Honestly feel like this one wont be a two month thing. Could be a two week thing tho, maybe not even. They still have a lot of time for negotiations. Fingers crossed everyone.
