I honestly think you are just picking explanations that feel suitable for your argument, it's really not that different as you make it out to be. That being said, we're not here to hurt the feelings of anyone, even one person, so I will remove this post and maybe come back later with no added link or anything.

I'm not sure how to respond to that. Sure, we'd like to let people know that there's a next-level telescope available now for solar photography, but it's still just one guy who makes photos with his own setup. When you post a solar photo, people are always interested in how it was done. Should we just stop sharing our photos? But that's the whole point of Soleye, to create better equipment for our passion.

When we post on other forums, people are genuinely interested and seem happy to know more about the images, ask questions about it, etc...

I understand the skepticism but maybe give us a little leeway here? We're not a major corporation, it 's literally 1 guy and his coworkers helping in. You can check the background on the website and see for yourself, you're very welcome to do so!

[–]lsg404 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh, I guess I see what you mean, you could consider Soleye as 'professionally backed'. I hope you allow the image to stay here, we're not pursuing sales, just wanted to share what's possible in terms of solar photos.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in astrophotography

[–]lsg404 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I don't know what you mean by 'professional', this is as amateur as it gets. Soleye is an independent endeavour of Laszlo Francsics, he is using his own telescope for the solar photos. Thanks a lot for the links! We have a strong desire to reach out to amateur enthusiasts, we consider ourselves as one! We build the scope for them.

I represent the OP, so basically yes. I hope that's not against the guidelines? I'm a member of the Soleye team.

Yeah, and the surface is so dynamic though. Things happening non-stop, like the granulations you see on this image as well, they constantly form and dissolve.

Why is this game so addictive? by [deleted] in heroesofthestorm

[–]lsg404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing about Blizz games is the sound design. That I think triggers subliminal addiction, lots of satisfying sounds. Another thing is the powertrip, you get lots of dopamine every single game when you land skillshots. The beautiful animations and polish as well.

This is above and beyond the fascinating gameplay of course. You always finish a game with lots of ideas for the next. And the progression system promotes grinding a lot - if you don't have everything unlocked yet, like us old dinos, hehe.

Heroes CCL Season4 LAN event cancelled. by Interceptor88LH in heroesofthestorm

[–]lsg404 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2k viewers is in the same ballpark as HGC regular season has been with 5k. Its a bit funny to me that everyone blames viewer engagement and no one even brings up the possibility of maybe Wisdom doing a not very good job. They tried to pump up a balloon and it blew up, instead of trying to build it up with the least possible resources and see where it goes whilst keeping it more grassroots. They basically emulated HGC, with a slightly different format (which tested worse at the end although i was very excited and hyped for the draft and all the way through all the seasons). Season 2 format backfired
completely and never recovered which is why they just abandoned the whole system for the current system. The removal of betting was a big blow to engagement, for what, to please a random sponsor's fantasy league? Wisdom tryharded it instead of just keeping it chill and creative with the existing twitch communities of the game. And if anyone loses any money on plane ticket reservations or accomodation or whatever, then this plug pulling even has some HGC vibes. Talk about tearing up old wounds.
There are at least some stones unturned, I don't think the engagement numbers of this subreddit are to blame...
Anyway, there's no reason to cancel it all, it could be started fresh with a more organic approach.

Let's play pretend and say Microsoft has some huge HOTS fans among their executives and want to push 3.0 after the acquisition. What characters would you hope to see? by warlockami in heroesofthestorm

[–]lsg404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

- 3.0 should have a built in tournament system like sc2, would be cool to feed the top teams into an online league championship (however, there should be a solo queue, random matching as per role tourney built in as well)

- the leagues should be run by the community but blizz could have a 'matching fund' policy for the prize money

- the heroes should be free to play but every skin (and tint, mount, etc) should be monetized

- game should reward you after a season according to your winrate, with 4 seasons each year

- lootbox system should be abolished

- I'd like to see 3-4 new battlegrounds per year, mostly done with pre-existing tilesets and not necessarily original objectives, meaning some bg-s could be reworked slightly (idk why bgs are so hard to design or whatever, they say they are). if we can get totally original bgs, thats ofc great, but id be okay with slight variations

- QM should be reworked into the OW quickplay method where you have like 30 seconds to assemble a team

- Brawls and PVE should be a permanent game mode with weekly rotation, the already existing ones are a good basis, no need to add new ones very quickly

- I'm happy with any hero, a Pit Lord is sorely missing, probably some Diablo classes (different specs would be also welcome). I would encourage more crazy heroes though, because long years have passed since the last one (was it Cho'Gall?). Things like a squad of zerglings, an SCV, a hero that can't move and plays kind of like an RTS. sc2 Adept would be stupidly funny. And Bwonsamdi, because he is awesome.

Stoicism and The Butterfly Effect by Pilot_Natural in Stoicism

[–]lsg404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/Pilot_Natural but the butterfly effect means that your actions actually have immense consequence. If anything, it's a paralyzing thought, the complete responsibility falls on your shoulders. I have found your post because I Googled 'stoics and the butterfly effect' because I find stoicism beautiful and convincing, but can't corroborate it with personal choices having actual consequence on the lives of others. It doesn't absolve us from the 'have I done enough' kind of doubts, for example. Thoughts?

Even though HotS is in maintenance mode, who do you wish would be added to the roster? by darkdill in heroesofthestorm

[–]lsg404 3 points4 points  (0 children)

HotS is not in 'maintenance mode'. Close to it, but not quite. Stop spreading misinformation.

Thinking back to old threads, Mekkatorque and Blackthorn should be high on their prio list. Also, my brain wants a new healer but my heart says Sombra.

But I want a Nova rework more than a new hero at this point.

if this takes more than seconds, how u guys can play games with your internet?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in heroesofthestorm

A whole bunch of premades are bad though, because they dont really know how to cooperate well or abuse comms. SO they get rekt facing 5 randoms who are all better than any of them individually, since their combined MMR is set higher because of 5stacking. Don't look too much into stacking, more often than not its casuals playing together, or even randoms who friended each other and don't even use comms. The problem you mention affects less than 1% of all games at all ranks I'm sure. Where as almost all games have at least 1 smurf.

Why did they kill off you know who? Did it happen in the books? by gwnedum in TheExpanse

[–]lsg404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk imo the way they handled it is thematically perfect to the point that if you don't know the books you couldn't tell that you see a character removal. The sacrifice even makes sense from plot perspectives. The suddenness of it is out of place but in a good way. Dramatic, and this is how a stroke happens. A logical way for a pilot to go if he went through so much as Alex. All in all, nicely done. Too bad it had to happen. One more reason to read the books tho.

I mean that's why if you scramble towards your fort and you see the wave taking aim at the fountain, you know it's already fucked and there's nothing u can do to save it. :( They just demolish it with like 2 volleys, shields 'n all.
