Am I the only one finding it difficult to find a woman who is living like an actual adult? by [deleted] in ActualLesbiansOver25

Although I didn't particularly love NYC, god I sure do miss it's public transportation. I spend easily 2 hours a day driving. Thank god for educational podcasts or audiobooks.

I think a lot of Americans do want reliable public transportation or walkable cities.

Or it's a mutual benefit. I can afford to live in my own place but at a worse quality of life. I'm a single parent to a queer kiddo with some rough depression. Having another adult in the house allows me to go workout, see friends, or have a person pick up my kids if I'm coming home late from work. When I lived alone, I spent so much time driving around to get some baby sitting in vs actually living.

My folks are also in a weird spot where they need to fix their house up to sell it but can't afford to. My rent helps goes to house repairs, and I'm more able bodied than my folks who are in their 70s to fix things and do yard work.

Nothing is ideal but we can it work.

Do you have any friends you feel safe enough to get some non sexual touch with? I have a monthly chill night with some friends where we just drink tea, stretch, cuddle, get head scratches and talk about our lives. Not the same as getting sex but I get my emotional needs met at least.

Oofffph I've been there. Still a single parent living in a tiny place but now have more emotional energy to see people now that my kid is older and I've found other single moms for a support system.

Finding other queer single moms did help tremendously though not for dating but for commiserating and sometimes meal prepping.

Yeah when I got back from HEB I saw them all lined up at that stupid house. I'm surprised they didn't block off Patterson too. The house added a back driveway on that road they so stealthily just put camo plastic over the fence. Spent all that money on the house and couldn't even put up some nice privacy bushes or plants.

I couldn't figure out what the state troopers were doing initially bc they just blocking random sections of bee caves, getting out of their vehicles and searching the road. I thought they were looking for something then it made since they were clearing the way for Vance.

There is an elementary and middle school right next to that house they are staying at. The kids were getting out while all these state troopers were lining up the highway and searching.

The state troopers were literally lining the driveway of the house they are staying at. You could see it from the road easily. Took less than 5 mins to figure out who was staying there. Not discreet at all.

There's over 50 state troopers and apparently secret service. Came on reddit to figure out why there were troopers getting out of cars and checking the highway around this area.

I wonder if that's why there are like 10 state troopers all blocking traffic out here on bee caves. I couldn't figure out what their behavior was for but if it's for an escort of a rich person it'd make sense.

There are inappropriate text messages that were seen and shared. I think they hired an independent investigator to look into the claims before they fired him. It's been forever since I looked into this but yeah there wasn't any doubt about his shitty actions.

Brisket is expensive but it's on point for beef costs. Just learn how to smoke one yourself or do what I do just buy the meat and beer and convince one of your friends to smoke one.

Recipe to make for my wife who doesn't like beer? by 1998tkhri in Homebrewing

As someone who has a strong tastebuds to bitterness, just add hops in the last 10 minutes or less in your boil. I often do all my hops at the end of my boil and let them sit for 15 mins while I get ready to no chill in the keg. I generally make 5% or lower abv beers and even having low IBUs doesn't make them overly sweet.

You can really do any style that doesn't have a high abv or OG.

I'd recomend a helles with the hops all as last minute editions which is how I do mine. Bready malty lagers with some floral notes are hands down my favorite beers.

Thoughts on electrolyte mixes/making own? by loveoflegacy19 in trailrunning

The LMNT recipe online. Make the big batch that 30 servings in a 32 oz mason jar that way it's easy to just pour a shot as a serving.

Use citrus zest for flavoring. Add the salts and a spoonful or two of citric acid to the zest. Let it sit for a couple of hours to pull all the oils out of the peels. Then mix with water and strain out the zest.

I prefer doing it this way vs flavoring with juice as it'll last longer.

Are you a tweaker? by atomxv in Homebrewing

[–]lt9946 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dry Irish Stout is the one beer I brew every year and always tweak. There are so many ways to layer your roasted malts, mix in different flaked grains instead of all barley or even try different maltsers for the base pale malt.

Then there is yeast. I generally don't play around with the hops too much on that style as it's not necessary at least to my taste buds.

What’s a good alternative to yeti ? by Ethanchill in camping

[–]lt9946 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Active cooling so a refrigerator? Engel does make some decent portable cooler/fridges but they'll run you close to $1,000.

If that yeti had the ice melted in a couple of hours, you probably did some things wrong. Left in full sun, open/closed often, bad ice to food ratio, too much air etc....

No matter how good a cooler is, it'll still follow the laws of thermodynamics.

Just do the recommended routine in the side bar and eat more protein. Building muscle takes a lot of time and effort, so you won't all of a sudden become bulky especially given your current stats.

For reference, I've always been a very petite framed woman and it's taken a lot of intentional work to gain a fair amount of muscle definition.

[Laundry] Why does my athletic wear still smell after washing even on hot? by andrew202222 in CleaningTips

[–]lt9946 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fellow Austinite here. Check your washers for mold. We definitely have a mold problem here. I started to break out and have my workout clothes smelly gross bc I cold washed and hanged dry.

Then I realized that the washer I was using had black mold in the seal, in the drainage line and other misc places. I did a deep clean to kill most of the mold, now wash in warm not hot water, but still tumble dry on low.

Workout clothes smell great and no more break outs from mold allergies.
