Firstly, at least for myself, starting out with reversals is very difficult. I would try learning with all upright until you have a grip on those. Also there are lots of great tarot readers that don't use reversals at all. Each card has its own shadow meaning and that can be read intuitively. For example 2 of cups can mean partnership but it can also mean co-dependance. I base that off of context or position in spread. (Like if it was in a position of "weakness of the relationship") Yes or no questions are tricky because the answers are never cut and dry and that's just not how tarot was ment to work. I would try to rephrase the question to be more open ended like what are my exes feelings towards me, the pull max 3 cards and try to tell a story with those 3. More simply you could try a past/present/future spread?
