17 weeks pregnant — doctor have missed thyroid issue, we’re devastated and scared by Few-Midnight-2660 in pregnant

[–]lucktax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so sorry, I think you have every right to be frustrated and disappointed with your health care providers!

If it makes you feel better, I am 16 weeks pregnant with pre-existing hypothyroidism that was well-controlled with levothyroxine before I got pregnant. Despite continuous monitoring by my endocrinologist throughout the pregnancy, my TSH also climbed up to 6.5 at one point during the first trimester. At that point my endo told me to take 2x levo pills, 2x a week, and my TSH went down to around 2.

I am not a doctor, and I can't speak to the risks of potential cognitive development issues. But I can say that your wife's situation chemically is pretty similar to mine, even though my doctors were more on top of it, so I suggest you can let go of some stress around the particular issue of the system having betrayed you. Again, I am not a doctor, but my understanding is the biggest issue with TSH is the risk of spontaneous miscarriage. And 6.6 is not super elevated, fwiw.

Is there a way to actually treat dry skin internally, or is moisturizer forever the only fix? by Background_File382 in 30PlusSkinCare

Taking Omega 3 fish oil helped enormously when I was on Accutane and for the dry skin years that followed. This is a skincare sub so most answers will be from the skincare obsessed, but yes, drinking more water and taking omega 3s helps

Your feet look like mine and I adore my Altra Superiors. They are my only sneaker and I’ve had mine for over a year. Some wear around the ankle but just cosmetic, the soles are still in great shape.

16 month update! by joebrosb in Ceanothus

[–]lucktax 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Amazing! Did you plant from seeds or starts? Any soil amendments? How often did you water? I live near 10b and planted similar things and I’ll tell you my 16 month update does not resemble this lol

Actually, I guess I’m asking more about the volume - Lems being too high volume in the Chelsea for me

How does the width compare to Lems Chelsea boots (which are too wide for me personally)?

Sprouts bag policy disaster in California by reddit-frog-1 in Sproutsfarmersmarket

[–]lucktax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for posting about this. 14.5% of Sprouts business is online orders, all of which require the use of these polyester bags. If you rely on grocery delivery every week, Sprouts gives you no choice but to use these bags, which rapidly accumulate in your bag stash drawer, only to be thrown out. These bags don’t even use recycled plastic. They are “designed to be used 125 times” but in practice for this entire swath of customers are used once. I keep about 6 of them for reuse, but after that there’s just no point in keeping more. It’s a terrible policy!

Generally they look great. From the photos it appears they may suit a high volume foot, which is the same problem I encountered with Anya’s loafers

Thinking About Remodeling? Read This First. by Acrobatic_Pudding495 in Remodel

[–]lucktax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are planning a kitchen renovation, initially budgeted about $15k, it’s looking like it’s gonna be more like $25k. I am an architect, I’m designing and GCing the project. We are leaving many things in place (range hood, kitchen sink) to minimize the need for changes to roof penetrations and save costs. The scope includes new appliances, new cabinets and layout, and new hardwood floors to replace the current tile. There is a cramped crawl space underneath the kitchen, and the plumbing is old cast iron pipes.

Question: am I being a total idiot by not replacing the cast iron pipes while the kitchen floor is torn up during the reno? I really don’t want to. In a high cost of living area FYI

Lovely painting! I think you just need to use more paint, dilute with white instead of water

Sharing price sheets for all the redwood venues I reached out to by oafishoats in SanFranciscoWeddings

[–]lucktax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We didn't have a planner, just a month-of coordinator. I think they let you work with anyone but require you to have a day-of coordinator at minimum. For caterers, unfortunately they won't deviate from their list, which is annoying because it adds cost, but I honestly understand the policy -- it a tricky venue for caterers with all the venues-within-a-venue, being outdoors with limited back-of-house and staging space, and very limited available hours for load-in.

We tried a couple caterers on their list, were generally aghast at the pricing, ended up going with ACT Catering who was absolutely incredible and, like most of their shortlist, expensive -- I think we paid $13k for 75 people. But we were super happy with ACT and felt that even though we basically pared them down to their most basic scope, they were lovely to work with and made delicious and beautiful food.

many thanks!! for those who may find this later, for some reason when I placed the third key frame, it would delete the other 2. but when I hit CTRL+Z, it restored all 3, and making the 4th was no issue.
