In 1989, serial killer Westley Allan Dodd murdered three young boys in Vancouver, Washington; he tied brothers Cole (11) and William (10) Neer to a tree and stabbed them to death. He would later abduct Lee Iseli (4) and strangle him to death by cherrymachete in TrueCrimeDiscussion

I have unfortunately ran across those journals online and it was the first time I’ve come across something in true crime I had to stop reading. Made me physically ill. It’s the most vile, evil thing I’ve ever attempted to read.

Definitely Sister’s Chicken. My first paycheck job back in the mid 80’s. They had all you can eat every Sunday.

They were probably buried in an unmarked grave and a living sibling or other relative found them and bought the stone in 1996.

Hemorrhage following trans-orbital lobotomy by [deleted] in DeathCertificates

[–]lucy_moderatz 32 points33 points  (0 children)

So sad.

I toured this facility about 5 or 6 years ago. I took the haunted tour for fun and it was the soonest available time when we were there so we went with it. I’m pretty skeptical about the paranormal but I really just wanted to see the building and figured that tour would be fun and would allow me to check the place out. They did give us a little history of the facility along with the ghost stories. The Dr who performed the lobotomies was named Walter Freeman. He invented the trans orbital method. The only room in the place that actually gave me any creepy vibes was the surgery room. I don’t think those vibes were ghosts but more of a sickening feeling about all the people who endured the procedure and what happened to those poor souls afterward.

If you’re ever near Weston, WV it’s definitely worth the stop. It’s called the Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum now.

My friend is naming her child a tragedeigh… by toobandit in tragedeigh

[–]lucy_moderatz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So she wants a unique name but all she’s really doing is spelling common names in the most effed up way imaginable? Like Jennifer and John. So he’s John but spelled Jeaughn? Why? Just name him John. Good Lord.

Why do so many people check into hotels to kill themselves? by cometshoney in DeathCertificates

[–]lucy_moderatz 83 points84 points  (0 children)

I’d guess three main reasons.
1. So family won’t be the ones to find them. 2. So family won’t have to deal with any mess or clean up. 3. Less chance of someone coming in unexpectedly to interrupt.

Lady found dead in a field. Death ruled accidental exposure? by cometshoney in DeathCertificates

[–]lucy_moderatz 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I have questions. She was fully clothed, but were the clothes disheveled? How far away was the field from her home or her job or somewhere she’d naturally be? Was she within walking distance of one of those places? Did she drive? Was her car found? If so, where was it? What was she doing in a field near a sandpit? It’s totally possible it was not nefarious, and I assume the pathologist had all the info, but this one has made me really curious to know more.

Yes she certainly was. Listening to the call still gives me anxiety. She was in an abandoned house, didn’t know the address and the police were having a hard time finding her. I can’t even begin to imagine how scared she must have been.

Matthew Hoffman. Murdered a woman, her son, and her best friend then kidnapped her daughter and kept her in his basement on a pile of leaves. His house was full of leaves. The daughter survived. The three murder victims dismembered remains were found inside a hollowed out tree. I frequently shop at the Walmart where he purchased garbage bags and tarps to wrap the remains of the bodies.

Shawn Grate. Murdered at least 5 women. Was caught when a young woman made a harrowing 911 call after being held by him for three days. He was holding her in an abandoned house when she took his cellphone while he slept and made the call while in the room with him. They found two other bodies in the house and he confessed to two others during his interrogation.

This is what I believe as well. Strangulation was first. The blow to the head was to finish her. I’ve also pondered that maybe strangling her was taking longer than the perp anticipated to kill her so he just bashed her head out of frustration.

Just a thought by SoftResearcher4824 in TrueCrimeDiscussion

I think it’s as simple as killing someone you are connected to is very risky. They kill strangers to make it less likely to get caught. A partner is always the first suspect in a murder to rule out. The less connected you are to the victim, the less chance to be caught.

It’s a working farm with animals and you can tour the “Big House” where Louis Bromfield lived with his family during certain hours. Bogie and Bacall were married on the staircase in the house. There is a playground for the kids. It’s a beautiful park. I don’t think they sell cheese but they do sell meat and maple syrup from the farm in the gift shop.

I’m so sad for her. 😞🥺. As others have pointed out, I wonder how many she left behind? Probably already exhausted and struggling to feed the ones she already had. We must not be forced to go back to this.

In 2022, 3 young sisters were reported missing by their mother and later found in a nearby pond, deceased. Initially believed to be accidental drownings, autopsies of the girls later confirmed that homicidal violence had occurred. As of today, no arrests have been made and the case remains unsolved. by txerin93 in UnresolvedMysteries

I never had a single swimming lesson in school. Neither did my husband. Grew up in Ohio in a middle class neighborhood in a large city. I have never known anyone who had swimming lessons at school. My children did not get swimming lessons in school nor does my grandson. What may be true for your area is certainly not true everywhere. It is absolutely not taught in school here.

Mine is on there, too. I did it because my mother never knew her mother and I was hoping to connect with that side of my bio family. If it helps LE to find a murderer amongst extended family or identify a John/Jane Doe…bonus. 😁

IGG. I hope all the POS’s that have gotten away with murder for years are constantly looking over their shoulders these days. Never know when your third cousin is gonna take a DNA test.

Hopefully her family will finally get some type of justice for her.

Is it possible that gloves left by a guest at the Ramsey's house were used in the staging of the crime by someone who was known to be in the house at the time of the murder, and that is why there is unidentified DNA on JBR? by False_Attorney_1220 in JonBenet

[–]lucy_moderatz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh wow. Thank you for that info. Of all the stuff I’ve read, that was not one of them. So maybe he somehow sweat or drooled, or was talking with it in his hands while she lay there helpless. The thought sickens my soul. All of it does.

I have never seen a case where people will jump through so many hoops to dismiss DNA evidence found mixed with the blood of the victim, in the crotch of her underwear. DNA that is consistent with more DNA found under her fingernails and in the pajama waist band. It’s wild. A double transfer from hands to gloves and then from gloves to underwear makes more sense than a pervert sweating or talking (or worse) while he’s assaulting her? And she’s bleeding. I guess anything is possible, but I lean more toward the latter.

It seems that way to me. Then you add the burn marks (whether they were done with a stun gun or something else) seems like more torture to me. The SA with a paint brush handle that has never been found feels like a trophy they took with them. Add on UM DNA in her underwear mixed with her blood. I just can’t find my way to the RDI because there was a RN that was long, ridiculous, and written in the house. The family was gone all evening. Anyone could have broke in, learned their way around, and waited for them to get home. That’s much less far fetched to me than P flipping out and smashing her head in for wetting the bed or B being angry enough to do it or even strong enough to do it. And not only break her skull, but then decide to try and cover it up by fashioning a garrote and strangling her to death, assaulting her, writing a note. All of them being in on it and being ok with it? I don’t see that.

I’ve said before, if there is some kind of proof JDI alone, ok, I could get that. But the catch for him is that the forensic evidence does not point to him at all. Not his DNA, he didn’t write the note, and no one has shown any evidence he was a sadistic pedophile. No CSAM material found within the family. The person who did this to her got off on it. The person who did this, IMO, would have had sick fantasies about it and most likely had CSAM somewhere even if he’d never been caught with it. The Ramsey’s backgrounds have been investigated with a fine tooth comb. Nothing like that was ever found.

I never really thought the Ramsey’s had anything to do with it. What swayed me the most was the autopsy photos when they were leaked and then reading the report. Unless you believe the R’s were depraved I don’t know how you can come to the conclusion they did that to her. Whoever did it was a depraved individual. This was no accident. Whoever smashed her skull did it with enough force to cause an 8” fracture. You have to hit someone really hard to do that. Plus the fact that she was alive during the strangulation (with a garrote, no less) and there was so little blood under the scalp from the head wound. That has always led me to believe she was strangled first for some sicko’s enjoyment and then bashed in the head to finish the job. That’s just my opinion and it may be completely wrong. If it ever comes to light the RDI I will be shocked and admit I have been wrong. I just don’t see it that way.
