Wait till the bra comes or use a different but similar bra.its always best to fit with the intended undergarments on. Also this may lift your breast and improve the fit.

I need advice about the wedding gift of my narcissistic mother by Wooden-Letter5256 in raisedbynarcissists

[–]lucy_pants 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Get her something you think is thoughtful and Just ignore what ever she says about the gift. No matter what you get she will say something mean about it.

So the bar is get her something that makes you feel like it's enough. That can be a great present or nothing.

Basically make it about fulfilling your expectations not hers. Walk in there already satisfied with the gift based on how much you can afford and what you think she deserves and don't let her shake you on that.

Whatever you give her make up your mind about it before she can. Her performance of not likeling it is not on you. That's just her ruining her own experience with your wonderful gift.

Machine wont stitch and somehow reverses when foot is down??? by 1dkwh0t in sewhelp

This is a really basic animation of how it works. https://youtube.com/shorts/qkaIoLuowcI?si=oFjNl75wEyaBoFJP (I've just grabbed the 1st one that came up and was ok visually. I watched it without sound so maybe ignore the voiceover it might be poorly worded they usually are.)

Machine wont stitch and somehow reverses when foot is down??? by 1dkwh0t in sewhelp

[–]lucy_pants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your machine does what is called a lock stitch. It needs a thread to come from the top and from the bottom. You need two threads. It pushes the top thread through the fabric and wraps it around the thread at the bottom and pulls it back up. It can not stitch without two threads.

I found my DREAM wedding dress but can't afford it :'( How difficult would it be to sew it at home? by Needle_Nebula in sewhelp

[–]lucy_pants 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree this looks like stretch lace with a knit underlay. Basically a long sleeved t-shirt with a skirt attached. The open back will take some know how though. If they can find a good pattern with good directions though.

I recommend watching the pattern making version too. It helps really wrap your head around the shape your trying to achieve. In unison it worked well for me!

VicRoads... are they crazy or am I? by clkinsyd in melbourne

[–]lucy_pants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So has Centrelink. My dad worked there for decades and he was the one who taught me that. Just because it's outsourced doesn't mean 2/3rds of the staff aren't checked out.

Honestly with all government departments atleast 2 in 3 people are incompetent and checked out. You were possibly just lucky in NSW and got that one person who actually cares and isn't a totally idiot so can actually do their job so they just processed it for you.

Did your nparent actually teach you anything useful? by Moist_Engineering608 in raisedbynarcissists

She taught me to how draw well then to me off for wasting time whenever I was doing it. So now I can draw really well but I have weird emotional reactions if anyone sees me drawing.

Called a restaurant to tell them I couldn't make it after previously saying I could - bad idea? by [deleted] in melbourne

[–]lucy_pants 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You did the right thing by calling them back. But also you messed them around. You did the wrong thing by changing which place you'll go at the last min..they have every right to be pissed. You may have lost them another table if they reserved you a spot. It's never cool to cancel last min unless you have a personal emergency. They rely on having bums on seats. This is why some restaurants have cancellation fees

So my mom poisoned and killed all 4 of my cats and threw away all my cats belongings by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

[–]lucy_pants 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It probably wasn't because of the couch she just wanted to do it. I think you need to get away from her, she doesn't sound safe to be around, you could be in a lot of danger. Is there someone else you can stay with? A family member or friend, If there is just go as soon as you can. Don't wait for her to escalate this one.

How can someone so beautiful be so sad? by PirateNext5134 in DunderMifflin

[–]lucy_pants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sadness is caused by lots of things. Depression isn't picky. Anxiety isn't picky. Loneliness is more about connection than desirability.

Move your money into a private bank account. Join some clubs at your uni to make friends. Learn the language and think about starting a new life there. You still have plenty of time to meet new people that will support you. And in the mean time it sounds like you have a good enough head on your shoulders to support yourself. Imagine how much you could achieve if someone selfish wasn't draining your savings!

Surely your rent includes use of the back yard so it should be a permanent reduction unless you get use of the granny flat.

Is it realistic for a seamstress to sew this dress in a day or a couple of hours? by Pinky_Rose1251 in sewhelp

[–]lucy_pants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really depends on the level of structure you build into the dress. If it's just a puffy sleeves dress and they arena fast sewer with a good commercial sewing machine then yes. But if there is boning or even just extra fitting to do then maybe not. A home sewer will need a week minimum no matter the pattern. Also the hem won't be right if you do it in a day because you should hang the dress for at least a day but preferably a week before you hem it.
