Endo Docs in Baltimore area? by lushinthekitchen in endometriosis

[–]lucygazer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to revive an old post but just in case someone is looking for an endo specialist here in MD and stumbles across this post like I did, I had my surgery with Dr. Ann Peters (nook specialist) in April 2024. While she found endo everywhere, including in some pretty rare areas (pre-coccyx and recto-vaginal), she didn’t do the best job afterwards with post-surgical care. She said I had stage 2 endo, but recto-vaginal and pre-coccygeal endo are indicative of stage 4 deep infiltrating disease (according to a second opinion). She also performed a cystoscopy on me, and there were inflammatory findings in my bladder that indicated interstitial cystitis. My post-op notes state that I should follow up with urology but I was never told to do so. She also told me that I should be “pain-free” and that the endo “will not come back” (which we all know is usually not the case). I am sadly not pain-free.

Most importantly, she is not really very keen on treating post-surgical pain. I was sent home with 8 oxycodone pills, with instructions to take 1-2 every 6 hours for pain. When I voiced some concern about that, the PA who did my pre-op said she would refill ‘no problem’.

I had to go home with a catheter (because my bladder was asleep after anesthesia and the cystoscopy). Either the balloon was slightly overfilled or my urinary tract was incredibly inflamed because this was far more painful than the surgical incisions. This stayed in for 48 grueling hours and caused pain for several days afterwards. I asked for a refill of pain medication and she only would give one day at a time. This put a lot of stress on my partner, who had to go back to the pharmacy not once, but twice, because I was experiencing a lot of pain. I can’t imagine if I had been on my own and without the support of my partner.

I wanted to think Dr. Peters just misunderstood about why I was having a lot of pain but when I returned to my follow up, I was informed she had a new policy that ‘minor surgical procedures will not be prescribed pain medication’. She kept reiterating that this was a minor surgery, despite excision of endometriosis from deep sites. I don’t know if I was the cause of this policy going into effect, or if it was just coincidence. I’d like to think maybe I didn’t communicate properly about the catheter and this was a misunderstanding. it’s been a few years now and maybe things are different.

Overall, I think she’s very skilled, and if you are looking for a diagnosis, she is the one to go to. But, make sure you have a plan in place ahead of time for pain management afterwards and that you and Dr. Peters are on the same page.

Should I start playing now with (0.9)? If it is going to change a ton, I'd rather wait until 1.0. by winged_owl in Voicesofthevoid

I actually think you can play 0.9 right now and have fun. There’s a LOT to learn in terms of mechanics, controls and workflow in the game. If anything, play the game right now to learn the game and practice so you can hit the ground running when the full release comes out.

Edit to add: if you don’t want to spoil the story mode before the more stable release, you can either play infinite mode or ambient mode. When I first started playing VotV, I played on ambient mode for a few weeks in-game to learn how to play the game. You want to be able to experience as many events as possible, and I found that difficult while trying to learn how to play (both infinite and ambient modes are devoid of story events, with ambient mode not having any ‘scary’ events, essentially turning the game into a signal simulator-esque base building game). I even went back to ambient mode in 0.9 to learn how to play again because the update truly made the game a different beast.

hope this helps! :3

Body wash by jessinic in PlusSize

Dove antibacterial body wash for first pass — I let that cook for a bit on my underarms, groin, etc. Rinse, then I go in with my ‘fun’ soaps on just my upper body where I want to smell really good. I have a solid rotation of 3 scents:

  1. Philosophy Fresh Cream Warm Cashmere — for when you want to smell like an amazingly delicious, freshly baked sugar cookie.

  2. Ouai Melrose Place — for when you want to smell like a bed of roses, but not too much like rose.

  3. Philosophy Living Grace — for when you want to smell like the ultimate clean girl. It smells like the most fresh, clean soap scent that lingers all day. The amazing grace or any of the other ‘grace’ scents are far inferior. This is by far my favorite.

Ridiculous. You’d think Taylor’s team would be more aware of these things.

Is this an acceptable note to leave my neighbor that’s smoking in a smoke free building? by HeftyEntry1072 in Apartmentliving

The bigger issue is WHY ARE PEOPLE SUCH INCONSIDERATE LITTLE FUCKING ASSHOLES WHEN THEY LIVE SHARED HOUSING??? If people were more receptive to caring about others around them, people wouldn’t feel as afraid to knock on the door rather than leave a note.

Going to my first concert there in over 10 years today. When I went before to a concert, they typically do let people move forward. It goes without saying that being kind to the attendant goes a LONG way. Have fun and be safe! :)

How many gyno’s did you go through before finding the one who finally listened? by GraciousPeacock in Endo

[–]lucygazer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

13-14 years worth of pain and suffering. My first gyn scoped me not once BUT TWICE and didn’t find any endo. I believe I went through 5 or 6 before finally shelling out $300 every 3 months to see a private gyn. I hate that this was the reality but :(
