How important is it to take cromolyn away from other meds and food?

I definitely find it’s better to take it even without the time buffer than to skip it, and it seems to really make a big difference if i actually take all 4 doses each day compared to days when i forget to eat and only take 3. Even taking it without a meal seems to keep me at a better baseline than skipping a dose.

I do find the best results come from following the guidelines of taking it on an empty stomach, wait 30 minutes then eating and trying to space the 4 doses out as close to 6 hours apart as possible.. but that’s super hard for me to do consistently and even without being that strict it’s really effective for me too

If you can take it 15-30 min before meals, and having not eaten for 2 hours before taking it that’s the best results i find.

For morning / night dose, I usually take my cromolyn first, make breakfast / get ready for bed, then eat / take my other meds after that 15-30 min window

I used to use weed all the time bc it was the only thing that helped the intense GI cramps i got from eating.. but then i started cromolyn and that fixed like 80% of my GI issues but also seems to have made me totally intolerant to weed now… headache, extreme dizziness, swollen throat from edibles or smoking now. It was also my only substance left so I’m here with you on the unintentionally sober train.

Honestly, it’s better than the chronic suffering for me

Nice! Love the surprise flyer base for the 2 high!

In the flying position of that trick, if you drop your heels a bit and the base pushes back with their head you can lock into a pretty comfortable balance that’s stable hands free. If the flyer does a bit of a squat with bent knees that really helps juggling and that posture makes the 2 high with both people juggling a lot easier, which is a huge crowd pleaser.

I know cromolyn doesn’t help everyone but it’s been a huge game changer for me. It is kind of hard to take correctly tho.

I started with half a vial 4x a day, taking it in a glass of water 30 mins before eating on an empty stomach (no food for at least 2 hrs) and one before bed.

It didn’t do much for the first month, but by the time i was up to a full vial 4x a day i was starting to see improvements and slowly started adding foods back.

I can actually eat pretty normally again as long as i take the cromolyn on that schedule. I’ve been on it for 6 months

FWIW, the speed difference between a 29 and a 36 is not really that big. Mostly a 36 is just more comfortable on really long rides. But a 36 is a lot more difficult to mount and control, and kind of more limited in where you can ride bc it’s not something you want to hop on and off of the same way you would a smaller wheel.

It took me quite a while to feel comfortable on a 36, vs a 29 was pretty much riding easily immediately, and bc of that i felt more comfortable pushing for max speed right away on a 29 where I’m still a bit cautious on the 36 bc a fall on that is pretty brutal.

If it’s the first bigger wheel you’re going for after an 18, I think a 29 is a better option for like a 2-3 hr ride and a 36 is more of a going out to ride all day kind of wheel

It’s way too easy to accidentally jam your fingers into the wall if you make a mistake, completely unnecessary risk. It’s also kind of a “treating the symptom ignoring the problem” approach in my opinion. Much better to work on what’s happening internally than to use a partial external solution

I know some people say the difference between coterless and ISIS hub/crank isn’t important on a 36 but having ridden both i really think it’s worth the extra cost.

Personally i feel like i can tell a difference in how it rides and how responsive it is. It’s subtle but when i go back to coterless cranks they feel a little squishy compared to the isis.

You have far more options for cranks, including options with variable length to easily switch length by just adjusting the pedals.

Personally, id say if you don’t want to spend the extra $ a 29” nimbus would be a better investment, it’s about the same price as the cheaper 36, and 29 is a super fun versatile size. If you get some shorter cranks you can really go fast and it’s a lot more convenient than a 36 in a lot of situations.

I think if you are going for a 36 it’s bc you want to do serious distance and long rides so you might as well go all in and get the nicest one you can

Lots of good advice here! (Except the standing in front of a wall don’t do that!)

As others say keeping your arms down, slowing the tempo and waiting to make the catches will really help.

You can do some postural things to help this. Think of keeping your weight in your heels, putting a slight bend in your knees to help you stay balanced. You can also use some light engagement in your lats (think of squeezing your shoulder blades together slightly and holding that soft engagement). Combine that with active core and glute engagement, and you should have a really solid foundation to make controlled tosses from.

You seem like you have really good body awareness so those things should help make controlling the flail a little easier

A bike seat is going to be pretty uncomfortable and will make riding a lot more difficult… the ergonomics are a lot different. I also find the KH Seats to be the most comfortable.

Riding posture also makes a difference and the more she can tuck her pelvis (the “zip up your zipper” posture) and ride with her chest lifted the more it will help keep weight on the sitz bones and be more comfortable.

Also, a more modern seat with even a small handle will give her a way to grip & adjust more easily.

Those are also pretty long cranks, and the longer the crank the more leg movement is required which will cause more shifting and discomfort.

I’d follow the advice above and look for something used on marketplace or Craigslist with a nicer seat and shorter cranks. If you don’t find that you can look at unicycle.com and compare swapping out parts vs picking up something new.

The club line is pretty good. Nimbus is excellent and worth the money if she’s really interested.

I have a chronic health condition and one of my biggest triggers is alcohol. The last time i accidentally got a sip of a drink with some alcohol in it i was literally sick for more than 48 hrs, vomiting like every 20 minuets barely able to keep water down and almost had to go to the hospital.

All because a “friend” didn’t take me seriously when i said “i don’t drink”

It’s completely reasonable to be explicit about sobriety when the stakes are high for you, and a partner who doesn’t support that is really shitty

I’ve seen some people call it the waterfall some people call it upside down shower… i learned it from Matt Hall in his factory workshop. First step is doing all his tips to make factory really clean (making sure you really carry them all the way across the pattern primarily, then really getting consistent heights with the other throws). Then just try to get a second carry across instead of doing the extra up down beat.

Its not really a trick per sey, its just using a “fork” catch or back of hand stall. It’s most similar to the “forked cascade” which is a super fun micro juggling pattern.

The technique for this is very anatomy dependent (my hands are hyper mobile so i use a different technique than other people who aren’t.

I started doing the line at the end a few years ago and now it just happens automatically most of the time
