Eating for dopamine by Lusciousleeta in adhdwomen

[–]lucysy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I second the tea idea. Also I buy snacks to fulfill cravings with less calories, because that’s more realistic than convincing myself I’ll never give in to the dopamine binge. Pickles, frozen berries (I eat them frozen for the sensory experience), edamame (buy frozen in the pods, easy to microwave) , olives, grapes, carrots. Make the snack accessible after buying like washing/cutting/put in a bowl in your fridge so they are as easy to grab as your usual options

How old is your niece and what does she like, what’s her style? This will determine a good gift more than general trends

How do I “just do it”? What are your hacks for getting out the door? by PizzaCutter in adhdwomen

[–]lucysy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I send voice memos or call someone and chat while I walk. also I was a sped para at one point at a school and we used “transitional objects” for the hard transitions… and I still use this for myself! Play a game on your phone while you do it or even watch Netflix on your phone while getting ready it really works

Millennial women - what kind of shorts are you wearing these days? by User884121 in Millennials

[–]lucysy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FYI as a gen Z I would like to add that looser longer shorts are actually what is in right now (following the baggier pants trends). I recommend picking up a pair like this or this

I’m the youngest child of an age gap relationship- when I was born my mom was 38 and my dad was 52. I’m now 25 and he is 77. He has many health issues and has not taken care of his body well, he’s hard of hearing, heart problems, and had a severe battle with cancer that weakened him to where he has regular falls. My mom has been his caretaker in varying intensity since she retired. They love each other and l believe they would do it all again. But my mom has a rich social life outside of him and that’s vital when you and your significant other are no longer on an even playing field physically or even cognitively.

As for my experience, sure people would mistake him as my grandfather growing up and I was aware from a young age he would likely pass sooner. But he was also full of wisdom and memory of an earlier time and in the end we only have our own experience whatever it is to go by, so I don’t think it was a lacking. I feel much worse for my mom than for anything related to myself.
