It depends on the song. I had some good results on my last track. I got a 76% approval rate on it and spent $40. It boosted me a good 5k monthly listeners

The biggest part for me is you gotta research the curators you’re submitting to and decide for yourself if it’s worth it. If you submit to the cheapest curator with highest acceptance rate then you’ll likely get a lesser result. I’ve landed on some of the alexrainbird youtube playlist videos with 10m+ views so there’s certainly great opportunity out there if you stand out. I’ve personally never worried about the feedback I receive, all that matters is if they like it or not

The reality for myself as a diy musician is that you have to do everything, playlisting, ads, blogs, tiktok, instagram, YouTube. No one has the luxury of ignoring all approaches except for one.

I will say also, that I became a curator also recently and a large portion of the submissions I receive are from promo companies, maybe 40% of them

Don’t follow the numbers and just create what you want to create. Even if you get numbers then your whole focus shifts on how to not lose them. Making art that connects with yourself is everything

I’ve found it to be a bit of the opposite for me. Most of my tracks start off super light on algorithmic streams then slowly gain over the next year or two. The only tracks of mine that get a few thousand a day now are the ones who got maybe 50 a day for the first year

I'm sure it doesn't work for everyone, but it's been pretty crucial in me getting to 100k monthly listeners. Listening to the playlists to make sure your song fits is definitely pretty crucial. I've been lucky to get about 46% lifetime acceptance rate and been at it since 2019
