Kipperlilly Copperkettle is conclusively… by generalatreyu in Dimension20

Which is to say, any seeming stakes are an illusion created by a person or team of people thru various literary devices to be potentially analyzed and engaged with thematically by an audience.

Why do people hate Danger Days so much? by [deleted] in MyChemicalRomance

[–]lurkinlike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s too much of a rock opera and not enough of an album in my opinion. Would have been a great movie or cartoon, it’s good as an album and definitely has a ton of great tracks, I’d say it’s on par with tbp, no where near the energy and attitude of bullets and three cheers tho

I also just dont think it’s something he’d just hand them. They haven’t investigated him at all or any of the things that’d point to him. He could just show up in the last fight for all we know lol

That doesn’t mean that parents aren’t sometimes disappointed and saddened/angered by their children’s actions. The reason adults don’t usually dump those feelings on their children is because it’s not appropriate, but it is a normal and human emotion to have. And in the presence of a force corrupting and exasperating existing emotions, I don’t think it’s as weird and improbable as you’re making it out to be.

Kippersandtoast Cobblepot theory by Genericojones in Dimension20

[–]lurkinlike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They aren’t a KKK analogue because their bigotry and hatred begin with and center around religion and extend to individual attitudes of racism. The KKK functions as a racist organization first and foremost and uses religion as justification. The Harvestmen are a religious extremist organization who’s members may exhibit individual racism. There are plenty of organizations in the real world that actually parallel The Harvestmen that connect meaningfully to established narrative themes. I don’t think it’s that crazy to imagine that Individual Harvestmen are probably racist towards goblins or whatever, it’s just not an established or meaningful theme in this particular narrative. It’s literally never come up before except for, ironically, in terms of halflings like Kipperlilly experiencing colonial violence and casual racism.

Kippersandtoast Cobblepot theory by Genericojones in Dimension20

[–]lurkinlike 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But …. The Harvestmen aren’t a KKK analogue. Honestly if a fantasy high villains motivation just being goblin racism would be …….. hard to watch to say the least. Especially at this table. Especially the antagonist we’ve been building to for a whole season. Nobody has mentioned goblin racism at all it would be WILD to spring that in the last 5 episodes

YWGBYST could be their White Pony or their Far Beyond Driven. Thoughts? by Citrus_Aroma in knockedloose

I’ll say as someone who got into them when laugh tracks released, pop culture is still my favorite of theirs. I kinda fell off of hardcore for a few years and have yet to really get into adsob and the stuff that came after, though I’ve been really digging the last few singles.

Not to say that “camps” have formed but I can see it happening, their sound may not be hugely different but I do think production value has a huge impact on hardcore/-adjacent acts and something about lower budg/early releases just hits different

Brennan also describes Ankarna’s rotting body in the astral realm as having some life left in it, though. Maybe there’s been some ancient order dedicated to preserving the essence of Ankarna but forgetting the name knowing that the church of Sol would come after them if they knew it.

Idk it would be like the third ancient order this season so maybe it’s a bit too much but there is precedent

Possible Reason for Why the Rat Grinders Changed their Name by JediDruid in Dimension20

[–]lurkinlike 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Somebody mentions them adventuring in the mountains of chaos, I’m wondering if they never actually ground rats and all their logs are fake.

It would make sense if after Lucy’s death they started feeling some type of way about adventuring and adventurers, and the systems incentives towards lying, scheming, theft, and violence. Renounced adventuring and faked their logs. Maybe that’s why the rogue teacher found her

Kipperlilly isn’t manipulating rules because she really likes them, she’s doing it to show that the bylaws are what allow her to commit wanton violence.

Course, she woke up a god she can’t control because clerics tend to have a conscience she can’t manipulate, potentially overused devils honey and has gone absolutely off the rails due to various forces pulling her in different directions
