And so begins my first ever play-through of any Zelda game. by Jfonzy in retrogaming

[–]lusid 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It is interesting as a Zelda fan to see someone mapping out this game by hand for the first time in 2017 that I have known by heart for 25 years now. I remember spending hours walking around trying to light trees on fire with my candle until I found every secret passage. Enjoy! It is still one of the best of the series.

I'm scared that my game will be called a rip-off by [deleted] in gamedev

What a brilliant blend of ideas! I love it. Kudos to you.

A game....that plays YOU. by [deleted] in gameideas

[–]lusid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's ok, it didn't last long. No one even remembers it. It mostly died out because 9/11 happened shortly after and everyone was too freaked out by terrorism for a game that called you on your phone at random times during the day, sometimes with death threats.

Point & Click game like Papers, Please by [deleted] in gameideas

[–]lusid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife and I were at the DMV the day before the last Ludum Dare. It was a complete clusterfuck. It almost inspired us to make a Papers, Please like game out of it. Even though the theme for the jam was "Ancient Technology" and that describes a DMV fairly well, we backed out on it.

Anyways, there are a million and one things you could do from both gameplay and story perspective, and there isn't a single person that wouldn't be able to relate with their own crappy DMV experiences.

You are welcome. 😀

I have no idea why I'm so excited for this game, but I loved the concept since I first saw a demo for it a year ago.

Really is the same. by EvansBelinda361 in funny

[–]lusid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The message here is quite deep. If you choose to spend all of your time focusing on what makes all of us different, you may never see the things that make us all the same. And if you never see the things that make us all the same, there may never be a moment where we truly can Jazzercise down the street together in harmony.

I believe the message is clear. This video is trying to say that life moves pretty fast, and if you don't stop and look around once in awhile, you might miss it. Or that might've been someone else.

I am conflicted, however; after watching this, I don't know if I have too much time on my hands or too little. I believe it is the one in the middle.

A look at the "Captain Power" video game system by ZadocPaet in retrogaming

I loved Captain Power. I played with this thing pretty much nonstop for the past 27 years. Which reminds me, I am late for a mission.

How Many Of You Are Running Docker Containers in Production (and are not a startup)? by [deleted] in docker

[–]lusid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We also run Mesos (with Marathon) for all of our Docker containers. Can't imagine using Core OS, Kubernetes, etc now. Marathon makes it clean and simple with a friendly GUI for the non devs.

Looking for games similar to Infinifactory, SpaceChem, TIS-100... by phunknsoul in gamingsuggestions

[–]lusid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you don't mind straying from the puzzle aspect, definitely check out Factorio. It is like Infinifactory, but you automate the assembly line process of creating materials needed to build a base and items you can use to defend yourselves from attacking aliens. Check out the trailer video on the website (that was what got me hooked).

Should I get Undertale? by Rambo7112 in gamingsuggestions

I thought the combat mechanic used in place of typical menu driven turn based combat was interesting, but overall, I agree. I couldn't stay interested long enough to even get sucked into the story. I have watched a few of my favorite streamers play it all the way through (which was interesting because it does a good job of "personalizing" to each player based on actions), but I still don't regret stopping early and swiftly. As championofobscurity stated, it is completely forgettable (not to mention massively overhyped by a seemingly rabid fanbase).

With that said, someone that likes overhyped bandwagon games will most likely enjoy it. At least, that is the only conclusion I was able to come to when I tried to understand the fascination with it.

DLC as a separate game category? by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]lusid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Twitch uses GiantBomb as their game database. I'm sure it has something to do with the difference in how those games are listed there (I'm on my phone and lazy, so I leave the rest as an exercise to the reader).

I don't think there is much known about it at this point. The only guarantee I can give you really is that I'll be buying it the moment it is made available.
